There are different kinds of fitting in. Superficial conformity like wearing the same fashions is one thing but there are certain ways of behaving, social cues, etc. where there are very real social punishments for not fitting in. Even when you have no idea how to fit in. People with Asperger's struggle with that, for example. :-/ - Spidra Webster
