Yup: needs a character counter to be useful. I've wondered why there's not a full-featured Twitter bookmarklet -- one that tweets the current page and maybe produces a TinyURL for it on the fly. - Chris Baskind

tweetburner has a great bookmarklet with character count, twurl url compressing, friendfeed support and best of all analytics of the clicks on your links. - Tobias Verhoog

Tobias: Wow, thank you. The UI is a little ugly, but like you stated - the url compressing, analytics, and character count options are awesome. I mainly use the FriendFeed bookmarklet to post links and images, but may use Twurl for Twitter. Thanks for the info. :) - Mona N.
