It's up? I'm listening to some Miss Janet "Got till its Gone"♬♫ - Mona N.
ok, i'm officially a Mona fanboi now - i tried to stay off the wagon but just.can't.do.it. - Morgan
hmmmmm it's not uploading =( @Morgan, ludicrious! no such thing as 'fanboi' or 'wagon', since there wasn't one to begin with =\ - Mona N.
@Mona - you're like the FF queen! everyone <3's you! it was a compliment :P - Morgan
....i don't take compliments well, get flustered, then say really dumb things, when i could've plain and simply said "thank you" but like um... ya... i...get..like..... case in point UGH =| - Mona N.
wow.. great catalyst statement !! i really dont know how to answer the question. Past experince sez that each person reacts differently. They turn to something..spouse, childrens, pets, drugs, alcohol. At the center of each is a big void that we can't define and neither can judge and in that thought , its always best to be supportive, be sensitive, be empathic and just be there. This is really hard question !! :)- - Peter Dawson
Mona =>>"After a while, you just become immune" -- I really expect better of you !! When a soul speaks, can another soul really hear what is being said ? - Peter Dawson
I eat or drown it with some form of beer - Outsanity
Listen to " Look For The Silver Lining" by Chet Baker :) - directeur via NoiseRiver
Peter? The only soul that hurts me, is my own. Hence, immune. - Mona N.
yes yes Mona, a sou that is "immune" is a dead soul, IMHO ! So frankly speaking.. from what you commented / I earlier said, implies that you really dont "feel" for another person pain. Is this statement/assumption right ? - Peter Dawson
I am talking about myself and do not speak for others :) - Mona N.
Ok I can only ask that you to speak 4 yoursel :)- Therefore, " The only soul that hurts me, is my own". So what others say/feel is relevant to you in terms of pain, feelings, empathy or not ?? - Peter Dawson
I paint or read. Sometimes it´s pretty hard forcing myself to do that, but if I manage to get through that it helps. - Tine
Are you asking me a separate question? I do not see the the relevance. :) - Mona N.
Talk to the "Man of sorrows, who was acquainted with grief": Jesus - klecu
klecu - I tried talking to Jesus... but the bastard never answers my voicemails, emails, texts, etc. EDIT: I've also tried him on Twitter, and he still won't return my friend request on FaceBook. - l0ckergn0me
Just because you're not religious don't think that you're any less an irritating proselytizer when you come around with your own predilections. - Akiva Moskovitz
Wow, great answers. Reading this list, I realize I have actually considered most of these. I may write, but I can't be moved to do much else. Hugs are out, I have to carry this on my own. Mona, I thought I was immune, but this has torn the calluses I had formed and brought new freshets of blood from the wounds. In the end, I guess it only serves to make one stronger. - Rahsheen Porter
Eat and hope to die of a ruptured artery :) - Kamath
Peter, sympathy and empathy seems very different to me than a "sadness that smolders in the center of your soul like a shotgun wound." I can't speak for Mona, but I view it as a good thing if people become immune to being too sad about that which they have no control over. But developing such a trait doesn't preclude the ability to be sympathetic or empathetic. - Robert Seidman
read all of these comments & believe/realize/know/concede you are loved - Scott Moskowitz
"wha wha what don't kill me, will only make us stronger" -Ye head - Mona N.
I bought an 80 lb punching bag. Works well for sadness and anger. - Stupid Blogger
<--- needs punching bag. But trying massages in the interim, - Todd Jordan
l0ckergn0me: Bible says no one comes unless the Father calls him. Just make sure your line isn't busy :) - klecu
Open the door to it, bathe in it, embrace it, try to understand it. The pain and sorrow is not something to be hidden or ignored. Each bit of sadness is carried with us through life. It is a bitter pill, but one that provides the contrast through which happiness can be observed in greater detail. It is destructive if you chose not to use it for yourself and only feed self pity. It is wasted if you try to ignore it. The experience of sorrow gives you a greater appreciation for "the little things"... - Louie
...the understanding of it gives you the confidence to carry on when a new sadness presents itself. "Yes, this is new pain, but I have felt pain before and overcome. I know that I will again." - Louie
You should click on Bitgravity's home page and see how fast the video shows up http://bitgravity.com this guy is one of the reasons why. - Robert Scoble
Robert, thanks for sharing this video. After watching it, I'm very excited about this company. There's going to be great things coming out of this company, if it hasn't already. That video from the homepage loaded almost instantaneously! - imabonehead
I just spent an hour watching www.tomgreen.com which uses bitgravity. There is so much potential for creative vlogging and idea sharing, I hope we can promote it with new subscription/monetization models. - David Lynch
had to expect something great the guys who made The Wire, a i haven't been dissapointed! - Brendan Jackson via twhirl
Anybody know when Flight of the Conchords is coming back or if it is? - Kamath
I keep finding myself wanting for it to be Band of Brothers (or The Wire). None of that is a blow against the series as it's pretty excellent, just wish I could get over those hurdles. - Blake Robinson via Alert Thingy
@blake Maybe this will help: I feel like it's the best of both. An interesting historically based account of war (like Band of Brothers) and a relevant commentary on an aspect of American life with meticulous attention to realism (like The Wire). - Chip Ramsey
I've got them on my Tivo, can hardly wait to watch. - Shayna via StumbleRead
I love HBO, always have and probably always will. - Toby Graham
I'd be all over that , like a fat kid on a twinkie - fotographic
I'd be all over that like a fat dude on Paris Hilton - Josh Haley
Now that is funny! McCain should take comedic lessons from Paris. Hmmmm, that energy plan actually sounds respectable (on the surface that is). - Darrell Bell via twhirl
If you asked her what the Oval Office was, do you think she would know? - Chris Rivait
Paris Hilton's favorite view...is that too nasty? - Kamath
K, I know what everyone *else* seems to think it is, but I see the nose and muzzle of a St. Bernard. It's just an unfinished drawing, people! - Stupid Blogger
Aha! I'm not the only one who still uses asterisks around emotes. *flails arms* - l0ckergn0me
I never even used emotes like that, but I *do* use asterisks and _underlines_ in place of text decoration (bold, italics). Plain text good. - Chris Kim A
Nope, my luck I'd drop it in and since I'm shoddy about the whole backup thing, I'd loose a lot of face at work. Can't risk that! - Stupid Blogger
My macBook (Drufus) is mentally scarred for that very reason. - Kamath
[a whole slew of jokes aside] this should be extended to include the iPhone. - Jody Carbone
@zee sometimes I want to get out of loo as quick as possible so I don't think I will productive then ;). But okay maybe if you got a smartphone or something I think you can do it, but still it's wrong :P. It's just wrong. - alfred westerveld
@Jody but surely everyone use the iphone in the loo...surely... - Zee at WeDoCreative
ehm, well, old laptop is conveniently placed at a table right outside the bathroom..it kinda helps with minimizing time before leaving house in the morning - embee
every time my other half takes a shot at me - i'm showing her that comment John... :) - Zee at WeDoCreative
@john if I ever have kids, i want them to grow up to be just like you! - embee
My wife uses it as well sometimes. We have a two year old daughter and time by yourself, even 10 minutes, is a rare commodity ... I use it to FriendFeed and edit my photos. I thought why not do it properly... - John Worthington
No. I have no TV, and I probably won't watch any online video of it, either. - Richard Klein
Ok look... I can understand human rights issues not having an effect on you watching, but to not even have any kind of opinion on it whatsoever is so damn lame. - Vincent Ferrari
I normally enjoy watching the Olympics, politics should not overshadow sports. However the possibility of this year's event turning into car-crash TV due to Beijing's amazing pollution problems and over-zealous crack-downs on reporters could make for pretty compelling viewing. - Dave Kinsella
The powers that be made a decision to host it in China. We have the right to be indignant about it. But it would be good to remember that we feel indignant about it because we feel deeply for the human spirit - of the Tibetans. But please don't forget that the Olympics is about Atheletes who have spent their whole life for the 2-3 minutes they spend in the pool or on the track. What about their human spirit?Fight China's record yes but don't not watch the Olympics just because you think that's somehow noble - Kamath
@Kamath Thanks. That's definitely worth keeping in mind - Christopher Harley
+∞ Kamath. The Olympics is about putting aside political differences and admiring the beautiful feat of the human form in action. - Akiva Moskovitz
Yes! Support China's brutal oppressive regime and policies so that some kid can run in a circle for 30 seconds! I'm not saying people ignore the athletes, or even that we cancel the Olympics, but for world leaders to go into that stadium and parade around like nothing is wrong is despicable. And no, I don't really care if that offends some kid running track. Some issues are bigger than your time on the track or how high you can pole vault. - Vincent Ferrari
You know, this kind of thing makes me WANT to support oppressive regimes just to irritate people. Watching people being indignant wrongly tickles me in the same way people used to laugh at people slipping on banana peels. Every indignant word typed means nothing until it's backed up with action and, well, NOT watching the Olympics simply doesn't count because you're punishing the wrong people. - Akiva Moskovitz
No. My interest in the Olympics begins and ends with curling and I have been assured from several reliable sources that this is the wrong Olympics for that most hallowed of sports. - James Williams (willia4)
James, curling! Imagine my confusion when, after living in the Southern US for most of my life, I moved to the Pacific Northwest and accidentally came across curling for the first time on TV. Sliding a big, heavy-looking plastic pill down some ice while people furiously scratch with brooms ahead of it all the while someone is YELLING at them endlessly. I stared at it probably for a good eight minutes wearing my Sunday's best WTF face. I still don't quite get it but I like the fact that it's out there. - Akiva Moskovitz
i'm with james.....it's curling or nothing at all for me....well, until they invent bowling on ice, anyway. - carlotta fancypants
Akiva - I still live in the Southern US (and always have) so I only get to watch curling once every four years during the winter Olympics. :) It's something I look forward to. - James Williams (willia4)
Yup - will watch the USA basketball team and Phelps in the swimming events. For 2 weeks this will be about the athletes and their competitive spirit. - Ron Emrick
I like the Winter Olympics more than the Summer - Sam Chupp via twhirl
Off course Rhythmic Gymnastics is a nice thing to watch :) - Sam Chupp via twhirl
Maybe there will be riots and demonstrations like Tiananmen Square? Chinese will bring tanks to the Olympics? - Igor The Troll
@Vincent, You know, I get what burns you. I am Buddhist to boot so I really do get it. But being mindful about this with some perspective with help all of us. How does boycotting by world leaders really help? As a people, any country will get more nationalistic and rigid if it feels the world is against them. That's how Iraqis react even now because they hated Saddam but they are deeply insulted by the American invasion - its just an e.g. - I'm not asking for a debate :). I'm with the Dalai Lama on this one - Kamath
I prefer Winter to Summer Olympics, but I do plan on watching. DirecTV is going to be providing some cool coverage options, and I plan on exploiting them. :-) - Joey Gibson
+∞ Kamath. You keep this up and I'm going to run out of ∞s. - Akiva Moskovitz
"And no, I don't really care if that offends some kid running track" -- Thats your perspective and you are welcome to it. I wouldn't personally trivialize things so quickly. You see a kid running track for 30 seconds. Most people see the inspiring and often difficult journey that kid has taken to get there. That kid's & defines a country's spirit. Read about a boxer's dad in India who sold his land to be able to train his son. That dad's will is representative of something more than a sport and not trivial - Kamath
Akiva, don't worry, you can never actually run out of infinity hehe... - Kamath
Back to the sport, I am a pole vault guy myself..meaning its my star event for the Olympics - I can't actually pole vault. I think I might be too heavy for it. - Kamath
@Kamath If you want to talk about the story behind the story, how about the broken backs of Chinese people underneath the regime? Boycotting may not help, but genuflecting and putting a smiling face on like nothing's wrong doesn't help either. Hell, boycott the opening ceremonies at least. Nope. No intestinal fortitude anymore. I'll watch, but I'm not pleased at all the sycophants that are gonna bow to Hu Jintao when it all gets underway. - Vincent Ferrari
I still say we should be *OPEN MINDED* ...after all we went to the Berlin Olympics in 1938. So is dog and gay marriage served best with red or white wine? http://friendfeed.com/e/854c57... - Noah David Simon
In Seattle we get the Canadian Broadcast (CBC). It historically has been much, much better than NBC. Actually get to see entirety of events not just the chunks that NBC deems appropriate for us to watch. Also get to see more events, not just the top ratings get. While CBC does have the stories of the athletes, they are fewer. CBC remembers that I am there to watch the games, not the network reporters. - JT Perry
When I picked up my iPhone this morning, the salesman was trying fairly hard to get me to sign up for MobileMe but I kept on pushing him off, saying that I wanted to mess with the trial a little more before I committed. Very, very glad I did that. - Akiva Moskovitz
I use MobileMe and so far, no issues. knock-on-wood - Rom Feria
Been using MobileMe since it was called iTools and free with very few issues ever. It keeps my contacts and my calendars and my mail settings synced between 3 Macs. - Adam Turetzky
Is there a known set of circumstances in which this occurs, or are the circumstances fairly random? - Ontario Emperor via fftogo
No reason, no idea why it happened? I understand it's bad news for you, and could be for others, but couldn't this be a random incident? Isn't it a little hasty to go telling everyone MobileMe is a disaster? - Tim Hoeck via NoiseRiver
Thanks Robert. Signed up for MobileMe, but have yet to investigate. Looks like you saved me the trouble! - Bill
Tim: lots of other people I trust are having troubles with it too. It could be a random incident, but I'd rather have my readers be very careful with this. I've never seen this behavior before. No idea why it happened and since it's taken me more than two hours of resynching with Google Calendar to try to get it back I'm not very likely to try it again. Uninstall. - Robert Scoble
I gave MobileMe a rather rigorous testing for a week, and found it to be just one aggravating issue after the next. http://tinyurl.com/6lnzg6 if you care to read. - Evan Sims
Is this just an Outlook problem? Or can it affect iCal too? - John
John: I don't know. I'm using Mobile Me on a Windows Vista computer with Outlook 2007. - Robert Scoble
Thanks. I just backed up my iCal just in case. Apple needs to get their sh!t together. First iPhone 2.0 and then of course the MobileMe disaster. - John
Thank god, this is one of the few mishaps of MobileMe that didn't happen to me, yet. Woke up to deleted contacts on my iPhone one morning. Thank god, they were "only" deleted on the phone, so nothing was lost. But it just makes you remember: "When was the last backup?" - Holger Eilhard
I don't like to rant about Apple, but don't they test this stuff. what about 2.0 firmware for iPod touch and iPhones that is really unstable with the appstore? I know they can't test every config, but atleast try to work out the bugs. Everyday I here of another mobileMe disasters.. I'm happy I still have old treo, which is buggy too, but at least it won't automatically delete my contacts and appointments for me... - Sebastiaan van den Akker
I don't have my calendar on MobileMe, but I know it screwed up my address book. - Francine Hardaway
While there's probably a unique circumstance in which this happens, the fact it is possible at all is scary to say the least. - Sam Law
I have found that redundacy is a good thing. Which is why I keep more then one calendar. - Paul via twhirl
Are there any free and/or open source products which fulfill the same features as MobileMe? Preferably open source so anyone can just up and install as required. - Scott Jarkoff
Before making such proclamations, you might want to do a little homework. Did you even talk to MobileMe tech support? http://www.apple.com/support/m.... There might have been a simple fix had you checked. I've been using MobileMe since July 18th; I sync three Macs and my iPhone and haven't had any major issues. I'm adding an XP laptop next; I don't expect any problems with that either. - Albert Willis
Albert: a simple fix? Google Calendar has been going for six hours recreating my calendar so far. This was a problem with Outlook. I have 8,400+ calendar entries. It's only recreated 2,400 of them so far. Sigh.
