"Joanna, as I read the list so many of these stirred up powerful memories of fears you helped me to face and walls you helped me break down. I could not have chosen one from the many posts you have written but these 12 were truly powerful. I am going to enjoy revisiting them again. "Joanna, this is brilliant. I would add that L is for Learner’s voice. You approach your topics from the learner’s viewpoint, exploring, uncovering and discovering rather than dictating. The result is a brilliant warmth that opens us up to learn and reflect. Karen Swim´s last blog ..Why Pretty Good May Be Really Good for Your Business"

"Kellye, I have not used it yet but think it is a great idea. Indie professionals truly are becoming the new workforce and I believe that we will continue to mimic the corporate experience with better, faster, more efficient tools."

Wow, thanks for sharing the link. May he rest in peace. Never forget seeing him speak and getting a chance to meet him. He truly was a great man. Prayers go out to those he left behind.

"Susan, one more great reason to visit your fine city. I have fallen in love with it from afar thanks to Joanna Young and Amy Palko. Looking forward to visiting one day!"

"Brad, you have had so many essential posts, but yes this is a perfect entry. It truly set forth the essentials of web success as it demonstrated one of your core specialties."
- Karen Swim
"Brad, great lesson here! It is memorable that they did not use the typical overhyped “world’s best,” or “Arizona’s best,” but simply stated “really good.” I agree that the simple message makes it easy to understand and believe. If cowboy jerky is like cowboy oysters, I can only imagine why it was not very good."

"ROFL! Heads up, if we're ever in the same room and there's food in my teeth, something is showing that should not be, I have toilet paper stuck to my shoe or the room's on fire, I want to know!"
- Karen Swim
"Brad, wonderful dialog and pertinent for me. I have personally discovered that even when you get clear on your focus, that can change. A community may rise up to meet you that you never expected. One of the benefits of a business blog is that when new clients research you (or have their staff research) your content serves as a testament to your expertise. In that sense your day to day may be teaching and leading those who may not directly hire you (although they may be referrers). Your site can also help you to land other writing assignments in publications that your target audience does read. There are many metrics to blogging success and it is not all measured in the comment boxes."

"Such an excellent post and I agree “success leaves clues.” I don’t watch the show but I admire her success, and love the insights you presented here. I saw her interviewed once and she uttered a quote that I taped to my wall, “Hope is not a plan.” She is a smart and generous person who has managed to remain human and real in spite of incredible success."

"Happy post Thanksgiving Robert! I share Lillie’s sentiments Robert and you daily remind me of so many reasons to count my blessings. Oh wait, that didn’t quite come out right. well remind me in a good way, aw man, shutting up now let’s all be thankful for that."

"Joanna, a powerful reminder to live fully, deeply each moment. I had a long chat with my Dad the other day (he has dementia) and he was lucid and lively. I was so thankful for his words, our talk, the time shared. That night I wrote a reminder in my journal that each day is not a dress rehearsal but the live performance. Thank you for reminding us of this today. Karen Swim´s last blog ..Adrenalin, Pie and the Holiday Season"

Really felling hermity these days. Ready to pack it in, cancel online accounts and stop interacting with the outside world. Too bad there's still the pesky issue of a job and kids in school to worry about. Also, too bad that I am alone this week, but in a house with no decent cable TV to watch.
If you are alone this week and hating it, that hermit gig might not be right for you. And TV is highly overrated. Do some reading; go to a museum. We're going to the Poe exhibit at the BMA this week. The Walters has some good stuff too.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
I'm only hating it because it is not by choice or in my own house. As for book, I've read 3 over the past 4 days. I need some mindless entertainment.
- Alan Simpson
Go to a movie? At least it gets you out of the house. Ditto on museums, especially kitschy ones.
- cecily
I don't have a lot of options right now. I am trapped sans vehicle at my in-laws house. Feeling a little ignored and self pity filled.
- Alan Simpson
A person always has options, they just might not be options you like. What about getting up and taking a walk? When I start to feel really down on myself, movement helps tremendously. And walking is pretty much free.
- cecily
Cecily, you're right. Sometimes, though, when depressed it is hard to make yourself get up and go for a walk. Just ignore me. Just have the blues today.
- Alan Simpson
Hi Alan, been there! We all have those blue days and sometimes we just have to have our pity party. Hey, I've even been known to lay on the floor and have an all out tantrum (alone of course because you know otherwise it would just be weird). Just remember that cool thing about SM is that there's always someone around to listen. If you need to rant, be depressed or whatever...we're here. :-) BTW, TV stinks this time of year!
- Karen Swim
I hope things improve Alan. Feel free to vent if you need to. Sometimes that helps.
- Junebug (aka Sarah Jill)
It's ok, Alan. I've certainly had better days. I hope you––and I––feel better soon.

"Lillie, thank you for introducing me to this talented Christian writer. I love the description of Morning Coffee and plan to grab a copy on Amazon. It never ceases to amaze me the plans that God has for us. Renae, thank you so much for sharing how God moved and continues to move in your life. It is a blessing and encouragement. "Jamie, this post captures the heart of what moves us to read and write. The books that you describe are those that pull you into the pages with rich layered stories and language that begs to be savored. While it is precisely this kind of writing that makes me want to write, it is also the standard that tweaks my inner fears that I am not good enough to write like that. Last night I read a passage from Writing Down the Bones that assured me that my love of “great” writers awakens that capability within me. I look forward to reading your slow book Jamie, and adding it to my shelf of beloved writers. Karen Swim´s last blog ..Thankful Reflection and Learning"

"Hey Robert, welcome back for real this time! I must admit I read it and could not stop laughing for several minutes. Now that I am slightly more calm, what a great story! I have your current book and look forward to adding another Hruzek classic to the ole bookshelf. So glad the vultures didn’t get ya, that would have been bad for us and Mrs. MZM. I think I’ll take your advice to keep moving you know just in case!"

"Hi Lillie, I responded to the survey and am surprised more did not. While the sample is small it does validate that new freelancers charge far less than experienced. In my own experience, new freelancers lack the confidence or business savvy to set prices that represent a fair living wage. I’ve been around long enough to prefer working with fewer clients at higher prices but admittedly it takes courage to own your value and stick to your price points. Thanks for conducting the survey and sharing the results! Karen Swim @Marketing Consulting´s last blog ..What Story are You Writing?"
