1.1 is much better. The AI is way smarter: they'll box you in, trade away all of a single resource type and then monopoly it back, etc

Bugs are fixed, that I can vouch for. Agreed on the multi player (although on my iPhone I play more single player games and almost never action games because I rarely have long to play, so I prefer strategy). I always really want a leaderboard.

I have the usual emergency kit but for as for unusual items, I have a bed sheet, a tatami mat, and an unopened package of window blinds. The bed sheet is to cover the windshield if it's going to freeze overnight and I need to drive early the next morning. The tatami mat is for the beach. The windows blinds I bought about 3 years ago, meant to return, and never did. They're still in the trunk.

Well, let's see... the Apple 30" is 27 inches wide, and standard ergo recommendations says you want a viewing distance of 20-40"... 6 would give you a polygon with a 23" viewing distance... 7 would give you you 28"... I'd say 7. Actually 14. Two "rows" of 7.

I think the right number ignoring cost is the same as the right number including cost -- the massive energy consumption exerts downward pressure, just like the cost. But now the ideal number of 30" monitors if you ignore both cost and the effect on the environment...well I still think it's 1. Doing what Al Gore's doing here, to me, is like sitting in the very front row of the movie theatre.

Empirically speaking, zero. I've stopped plugging my laptop into my 30" monitor at work. All the windows get messed up. Plus, I have this theory that sticking to a single laptop screen helps me focus better.

Jim, I agree with you. When I had two monitors, I used one for actual work and the other for mail, friendfeed and other distractions. I do prefer using a 24" screen to my laptop screen.

@Jim, personally, I find that my laptop screen is too confining. I plug into a 23" LCD at work. I use the LCD for TextMate and a couple of Terminals, then I keep a browser open on the laptop for testing and search. That works really well for me. If all I have is my laptop screen, I spend a lot of time Alt-TABing between apps.

I've settled in on a 3-screen setup: Center (24") has 2-4 terminal windows, either half of 1/4 of the screen each; Right (22") has a Chrome window, IM, and often a couple more terminal windows monitoring processes or logs; Left (20") has either media player software or live.twit.tv in a Chrome window :-)

Ken - Are you using any special software to organize the windows on your screen? I'm using a 30" monitor at work as my main screen and my 17" laptop screen as my secondary. On the 30" screen, I use a proggie called WinSplit Revolution to split my screen into sections. It's a lifesaver. Keyboard shortcuts automatically move and size the focused window to any portion of the screen you choose.

No, Curtiss. I've tried different apps over the years, but nothing ever really clicked. However, I just discovered that the Windows key plus arrow keys in Windows 7 will now resize windows, e.g. Win+Left expands the window to the left half of the screen, Win+Left again moves it to the next monitor, etc.

Nice. That's kind of the way winsplit works, except it uses ctrl+alt. Ctrl+alt+left moves window to left monitor, ca+rt moves to right screen. It also uses ctrl+alt plus any key on the number pad to move the window to any quadrant/half of the screen.

Just ground beef tacos, but I spiced them from scratch, not a mix. I had two and some homemade refried beans. I've had a tummy ache for a couple of days, though, so I haven't eaten much other than tea and toast lately. The delicious spicy tacos were a bit shocking to my tum.

I can't decide, do I like it cool and breezy, or hot and sunny? They both actually have their good points. I like the hot weather because it's pool weather. I like it cool and breezy because it's more comfortable at mid-day. I like it when it's hot enough to eat dinner outside, but I don't like it so hot that it's still 80F in my bedroom at midnight.

Yes, my left arm, at age 10, while tight rope walking the parallel bars at the playground behind my grandparents house. I went back and forth 10 times before falling on my arm. AND it was my grandfather's birthday. Also fractured my shoulder blade, not sure that really counts as a limb though. (edit - didn't break the shoulder blade, I must have been having a brain fart moment)

Gymnastics. I fell forward off of the uneven bars and put my arms out to catch myself. In doing so I dislocated my left elbow, and it chipped the bone when it was relocating itself... OUCH!

This lame in comparison. I broke my toe jumping off the top bunk of my bunk bed when I was 7 or so. The bad part was my parents didn't believe me for a couple of days. The worst part, all the doctor did was tape it to the toe next to it and I was fine.

I saw it on Sunday. Awful, just awful. I'll write a review for my blog, but I had low expectations that were not met. Bad special effects, bad story, bad acting -- this movie fizzled on every level for me.

Was glad to take my parents to see it, definitely enjoyed it a lot. Despite some plot quibbles (and what would a trek movie be without those?), it's an extremely well-made and likable movie with a charismatic cast and plenty of summer popcorn thrills.

How do you like the Diaper showings? Is it possible to really watch the movie?

It depends on the movie and the crowd. Sometimes it works, and other times not. We went to see Horton Hears a Who there, and it was a bit chaotic, because it caters to kids, so there were lots of toddlers there. It could be said that it's a livingroom experience, (lights on, kids talking) so it's not a huge win over just Netflix, but I think it's good practice for the kids to go to a real theater. You should give it a try and report back. :)

I thought it was interesting. I don't hate him like a lot of people on FF seem to. But I will not be spending much time watching either. The new set is amazing. It did seem to go by quickly, and the 2 chair/no desk setup makes it a lot more intimate...just in time for Leno to ask Kanye about what his dead mom thinks of him interupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, watch Kanye flounder for words, then see him immediately go get gangsta rap on stage. What's not to like?

Now, she curls up next to me in bed, rolls over to let me rub her tummy whenever I pass by, and almost lets me hold her (for a minute or so, tops!) We're making progress. My vote is for the name: Rupert. (I don't know why.)

Stephen, this thread cracked me up... but it gives my hubby, Brian "sparky" Johns more justification as to why we should name our future children "Laureth' and "Ethylene". I don't want my children named after chemical compounds. (21 photos of adorable cuteness) "Name: Zoey Age: About 7 weeks young. Hobbies: cuddling with people as much as I can, learning new things (most things are new to me), perfecting being a kitten. Likes: The crack between the arm of the couch and someone's leg, ribbons on sticks, watching the big kitties. Dislikes: The kitties that used to pick on me and make me scared, wide open spaces, loud noises (but I'm getting better about the noises). Zoey comes from a litter of 5 where the larger kittens picked on her and made her rather afraid of everything. When she came to us she was very timid and didn't even know how to play, now she is a pro!! She is still timid about some things, but after just over a week she is blossoming and will be a great little lap kitty for someone. She will likely do best if there are not dogs or kids (at least until she has grown up a little and come out of her shell more), but she is already adapting to other cats and with some patience she will be a true love bug for some household!!"

When Willie Nelson passes, I will be a mess. I grew up on his music in my grandfather's music room. So many happy memories of Sunday dinners at my grandparents' house when I was a kid are inextricably linked to Willie Nelson songs. And, if anything happened to Obama, that would be absolutely devastating. There are several authors, atheletes, other musicians, even other political figures I would miss and mourn, but those are the two I actually worry about.
