I guess our Xmas secret is out. 14 great years. Thanks @RonHogan and @ljndawson.
Xmas eve book shipment from unnamed publisher. 4 books, 4 covers feat. women w/weapons. Shotgun, sword, gun AND flaming sword, smoking gun.
@booksquare I warned you about Chad Kreuter.
This just in. The Apple Unicorn will support braille. There's nothing this thing can't do. http://www.appleinsider.com/article...
@lbgilbert Also, I had previously believed eBay had rules against selling humans. Apparently children are exempt from that rule.
@lbgilbert Well, in the book it's a Chaldron. But then the Muppets have been transformed to Gnuppets.
eBay search results: "0 results found for chaldron, so we searched for children" [NOT the same thing!]
Reading Lethem's Chronic City, which, naturally, lead me to search eBay for a chaldron.
@permanentpaper It's @vorman's fault. And Ammo Books.
99% through Being and Nothingness using http://www.lexcycle.com/.
I give Piatt a <50% chance of surviving the week with Wiki.
Ultimate sign that christmas is near. The Adam Piatt tree ornament has emerged from the garage. @todgoldberg
Whenever anyone asks me about the Kindle I bring up the Nook. So far not one person has had a clue what I'm talking about.
Consumers are starting to use Kindle as a generic term for ereading devices. Kleenex syndrome.
@ljndawson Lexcycle is a group of self described "java geeks". Android SDK is java. Still, it's fun to ask uncomfortable questions.
@jtallent That's funny, I heard a rumor open source was killing ebooks.
@jtallent I think ascii must have been the original sin. @ljndawson
Five famous friends of freedom (remember the EFF this holiday season): https://w2.eff.org/5friends/
@ericgreenspan Thanks for coordinating the event yesterday. Great fun. What sort of presentations are you looking for at osn101?
@brianoleary was:Shortcovers.
I have to ask. Did the Nook guy name Kobo too? I miss Shortcovers.
@jane_l Yes, exactly. That's the only reason to tout "proprietary" solution. Consumers don't care about proprietary marketing platforms.
@glecharles OpenRoad is building $1 mil. proprietary marketing platform and they're not building sales channel to go along with that?!?!?
@glecharles In that case they should skip the $1mil platform and go straight to production partnerships.
I can confirm, Yahoo HQ in Burbank is made of cupcakes.
@brianoleary Binary solo!
@brianoleary It's a good thing Microsoft stands behind LIT or we probably wouldn't have ebooks at all.
Pondering how open source can be bad for ebooks when it was so good for the web. Maybe the problem isn't open source...
And why is Apple imposing Audible DRM on authors when it's essentially an Amazon product? @brianoleary
