What will you do when Twitter is down? - Jeremiah Owyang
Why, Friendfeed of course. - Pete Barry
Yep. Home from China, bursting w/ stuff to say & Twitterville turns a worm loose. Grr. - shelisrael1
Keep hitting refresh on twitter.com.... uh, I mean Friendfeed. - David Bisset

So instead of a Fail Whale, what do we call this? Moan Cone? Squirm Worm? - Abbas Haider Ali
last 2 days have been bad twitter-wise - I don't even get a graphic, just 'failed to open page'..:( But I still have FF :) - WorldofHiglet
@Abbas "Moan cone" elicits entirely different images in my mind :p - Neal "thePuck" Jansons

Someone should totally hack twitter's "twitter is down" notices with a "why not pop over to friendfeed instead" redirect. - Slippy Lane
I have to concur with "Moan Cone." I'm following fewer people on FF so I feel like I'm stepping into a mostly empty pantry. I have my favorite cereals but no chips or hearty Chef Boy Ardee meals. - Cam
Add Identi.ca for a bit. - Helen Sventitsky
Just added to the Twitter down Art gallery: http://dembot.com/post/2519797... - Andrew Baron
Twitter down. 3 million tweeple working again. Economic indicators jump. - Mike Lizun
It's funny. I'm in FF now because of the "Moan Cone" and all i can think of is "look at all the potential people I can follow on Twitter". I need the "Betty Ford" equal to Twitter addiction. - David Bisset
No need for interventions, David! Better to follow people here and you get their tweets plus all their other lovely activity, too. YouTube, blogs, flickr, memes, songs, podcasts.....so much content..... - WorldofHiglet
so why do DB maintenance in the middle of the day? - Steve Mann via twhirl
Yea I mentioned that too -- Who does DB maint during peak hours? I doubt this was planned. - andy brudtkuhl
How do you tweet that Twitter is down when Twitter is really down? :-) - Zoli Erdos
I seriously doubt this was a "planned" maintenance as they would have posted a message well in advance... this is an UNplanned event, like most twitter outages. - Susan Beebe

Michael - Excellent overview. While some still discount SEO (and they shouldn't) your piece provides solid basics for blogs. It should be noted that SEO for websites is different and potentially more complex but more importantly those running around saying that social networking is a replacement for true white hat SEO are kidding themselves ... and potentially missing out on a lot of free traffic in the process. - Charlie Anzman

Apple Readying Cheaper iPhones, Macs for Black Friday | Gadget Lab from Wired.com
Friday at 3:04 pm - via Bookmarklet - Link
"A $100 iPhone, $800 MacBook or $25 iPod shuffle could be hitting Apple stores the day after Thanksgiving -- if analysts' predictions are correct. Barclays Capital expects Apple to price its gadgets very competitively for Black Friday, a consumer holiday when stores sell products at dramatically discounted prices, marking the beginning of the holiday shopping season. Barclays Capital points out that this season, low-cost notebooks priced around $300 from Dell and other companies will pressure Apple to give generous discounts on its products, too, in order to compete in the face of a collapsing economy. "We have not seen any Apple Black Friday ads yet (as is customary), but expect the company to be more aggressive than usual in its one-day sale, perhaps with $100 off a few Mac models and discounts on several iPods," Barclays Capital analyst Ben Reitzes wrote in a report to clients" - Cee Bee via Bookmarklet

f-ing BRILLIANT. - Patricia
What would be a good name for what something that is essentially Fireside Chat 2.0? - Victor Ganata
i can't wait for the comments on his videos to fill up with homophobic anti-semetic nonsensical ramblings. i can think of no better forum for presidential conversation than youtube comments. BRING ON THE GAYNESS LOL THIS SUX! - Baratunde Thurston via twhirl

FDR would've done it if they had had the Internet. Or TV. - Victor Ganata
I guess dedalusjmmr must be unaware that Presidents do weekly radio address. - Anika Malone
Brilliant!! What a way to talk to the next generation and get them involved. This is going to bring in more people. I love it!!! - Chris W
Will comments be allowed? Will it be available on iTunes like it has been for the past..ohh 6 years? - Mike L via twhirl
I agree Chris. When I was a kid, I used to listen to the weekly addresses. When the WH started putting the text online, I'd just read it. When they started posting the audio, it made it easier to do it on my time. And I like going back through the archives, though it's annoying that the current way the WH posts the address, no longer give short summaries. This will make it even easier to view/listen when I want. - Anika Malone
Certainly beats preempting your favourite TV show. "We now return to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress." - Andrew Smith
What happens to the digitally disenfranchised in these "Fireside" YouTube chats? Is there a plan "B" for them apart from XM? - Melanie Reed
If BHO wants to reach everybody on the Net maybe he needs to make a porno too. - Bill Miranda
Melanie the WH has been archiving the transcript and audio on whitehouse.gov for awhile now. The weekly addresses will still be on the radio as they have for the past 80 or so years. - Anika Malone
Anika, Thank you. I was aware of the WH site for some time. But I was concerned that the DD not be left out. It is good to know that these communications will still be radio-accessible. That is all many of these people have or understand. And that's all right. Their need and wisdom are still very vital. - Melanie Reed
He wouldn't be the first high government representative doing something like this. Queen Rania of Jordan encouraged a video debate there in the run up to Youth Day in August and the British Royals have a channel there without comments I believe, with archived videos. But I don't think it's a good idea to have the weekly presidential address. At least not JUST in YouTube. Is he doing the video with some other TV or video companies or is it just YouTube? - Cibeles
I'd love it if Gordon Brown did this, oh wait, no, maybe not. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
