PERFORMANCE LED Bulbs use ocular lenses to harness the output of high power Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The light output is comparable to incandescent and halogen products and can be used for both distance and close-range directional light. What makes these special is that they achieve their brightness with up to 90% less energy than the bulbs they replace, and they last up to 30,000 hours. They are RoHS compliant and 100% mercury free.

Kenley: Any info on prices? I'd love to use LEDs instead of regular bulbs or chandelier bulbs--but last time I checked, an LED replacement for a 60w incandescent was something like $75.

I just ordered one through Amazon for $15 to give a trial spin. So, the price is considerably higher than halogen but it may be worth the extra money for the longer life and the environmental aspects.

You mention stuff like this in your classes, right? Because it's so important for students to know that the work of a librarian goes beyond reference behind a desk, cataloging and circulation.
- Jennifer McDaniel
Kenley, that's awesome. Very good to hear.

I do mention where possible. It is my plan to write up about 400 words on the work that I do at SBCC that is not "library" related. However, I'm having a hard time finding 30-minutes to do the actual writing. Haha!

Anyone know the dates for Internet Librarian 2010 in Monterey? Trying to schedule a workshop next fall.
