Traveling to Victoria tomorrow morning to team up with Andy Thornley (inventor of The Flying Scotsman) for the beginning of the Tolmie Avenue Lecture Series. I'll be making the first presentation at midnight, "How Tolmie Avenue Destroyed a Generation of Young Poets, Thespians, and Other McDonald's Employees."
Had a fantastic time at the North Delta Rotary Lobsterfest. Final score: 1200 lobsters and 600 pounds of prawns consumed by 450 people, plus various salads that no one really cares about. $55,000 raised for the Food Bank. A great night for charity - a horrible night for crustaceans.
The Kelowna Gospel Mission does great working assisting the homeless. This year they are having a Bikeathon to raise money for transitional housing. My friend, Sonja Nelson, is the Volunteer Coordinator for KGM and she would like your support. Please make a pledge for a great cause.

A thorough discussion of the controversy over depression as a biological disease or a "sane reaction to an insane world." Discusses the implications of over-prescribing anti-depressants, the value/lack of value of the DSM in assessing mental illness, and the value/lack of value of psychotherapy in treating depression. No firm conclusions, but an interesting read on the subject.

I read online that someone is writing a political history book about the future. It's called "The Palin/Limbaugh Administration: How America Uninvented Electricity."
