I wonder which Chinese exports to the US will suffer as a result of the closures. Does it mean no more iPhones? Or is that why Apple stocked up on the new iPhones in these past few months? ;-) - Raoul Pop
I can tell you first hand, steel and steel parts that are made in China are a big issue. The plants have already been shutting down for a couple weeks now so they can clean up, and the parts that have been coming in during that time were ones that US companies ordered to stock up for the shutdowns. They will be shut down until the Olympics are over, so a few (10?) more weeks to go. - cmiper
This is great -- Thomas one of my two favourite photogaphers (Bill Wadman is the other --- via Thomas Hawk --wish Bill was more a part of the online social network) - Brian Sullivan
Unbelievable. This is what it's like when corporations puppeteer governments. - Raoul Pop
Great, the European Union is in this too. Which means The Netherlands - where I live - will be the country to implement it first and enforce it the most rigorous. - Kenneth Verburg
I don't quite understand how this is even possible? If I drop a CD into my PC, and use iTunes (or whatever) to convert the files for play on my iPod (or whatever)...how is it that someone at a border crosssing or anywhere else for that matter, will be able to determine and/or prove that I don't own the CD which the files were taken from? Even though the "could" drag it out and ask for proof of the originals, but how much effort is going to go into this? Unless I am misunderstanding it all, it makes no sense to me and is doomed to fail and waste a lot of money in the process. Even with bought files that are DRM, you still have the ability to play them on diff devices, how coudl they even prove I had violated that? They will start treating legit and legal customers as criminals, it will all end badly. - cmiper
Given all of the things that are happening in the US and the UK (increased surveillance, draconian "homeland security" laws, etc.), I think the idea is not to make it easier for the people, but to get them accustomed to more crap like this. I don't know what the overarching purpose of all these filthy efforts is, but their overall effect is to seriously creep me out. - Raoul Pop
There is a very bright beacon on the horizon. Direct Note Access will smear any old definition of what a copyright violation is. When you can move every single note of a Jimi Hendrix guitar solo in time and pitch, then copyrighting a song becomes like copyrighting a blank sheet of paper. http://www.celemony.com/cms/in... - exador23
TransMist, video will probably be up in a couple of weeks, I'll be filtering many of my photos into uploads over the course of the next few months likely. I'm giving the disc of photos to Rocky on Tue. to start production. - Thomas Hawk

We have to edit the videos together. Probably three more weeks, unfortunately. I have quite a backlog of videos. Today I was sitting in Ansel Adams sink inside his darkroom. That's gonna be a real special video to show you. His real innovations were done there. - Robert Scoble
