“For the first time in my life, I realize making lists of things to accomplish is important. Sadly I cannot find a good clean digital way, synch between machines, allowing printouts, priorities, categories, etc - What do you use?”
a good old fashioned notebook. i buy them from barnes and noble so they're a little more special. some of my greatest achievements in life and work are chronicled in these! - Patricia
I have to agree about the notebook. It also keeps you away from the computer, which is a big time sink. - Jason Huebel
A text file or paper, whichever is handiest at the time. If it lives too long for the paper/text then it goes into a special TODO list Word doc (could use Google docs) that is nicely organized by project and range of due dates. I've yet to find something that works as well as that combo. Not all projects fit into the little molds provided in software systems, plus you have trouble taking the software with you. I used to take a full sheet of paper and put a day on every line w/ the agenda for that day. - xero
Remember The Milk. There are a million different ways to access your tasks no matter where you are. It does separate lists, tags, and priorities. You can add locations for specific tasks. It's just been the easiest way for me to stay on top of stuff. - ♫ Rahsheen™
Just wait a moment and this urge will pass. We can't lose another one to the list makers :-) - todd
Can you use Silverlight? If so, I can help. I haven't done Flash development for awhile. - Loren Heiny
Never touched Silverlight. Trying to get a grasp on Flash so I can use it in some of our eLearning modules created with Adobe Captivate. What I'm doing should be simple, but I'm still getting my feet wet. :-) - Kevin Devin
"Should be simple"...yep, know what you mean :-) - Loren Heiny
“Why do we put up with parents who take absolutely no responsibility for raising their kids? Why do we allow parents to absolutely destroy the chances of their kids ever being successful in this society? How do you inject personal responsibility as a requirement into the system and not just an ideal”
Totally ignoring your two kids while talking on your cell phone, letting the girl run a shopping cart into whatever and allowing the little boy (in pajamas no less) just sit there and scream at the top of his lungs, is a complete lack of parenting. That isn't subjective. - Alex Scoble CISSP
People are too polite to butt in on people's parenting (or lack of). - Rochelle
I would agree. But to them . . . I'm sure they would disagree. - Lindsey
Because the function required in creating a child has been so degraded by society as either an evil never to be discussed or something treated with reckless abandon that a disconnect has occurred between cause and effect. The ideas of parenting that has been glamorized by all sectors, glosses over the 'work' that is required... and some people are just fuckstains... - Johnny Worthington
" How do you inject personal responsibility as a requirement into the system and not just an ideal?” - guilt - MikeAmundsen
But Alex, kids need rich experiences, to be able to explore and imagine. Put boundaries on them too early and you'll stunt them for life ;-) - Logical Extremes
this post could be about wall street brokers - Gregory Lent
I'm sorry but the US is WAY too lax on children. To paraphrase Denis Leary, "my parents beat the shit out of me when I was a kid and I'm looking forward to beating the shit out of my kids". Children need discipline. End of story. Where I grew up, I never heard of kids shooting guns or getting shot. Having a death penalty for gun possession kind of puts a damper on that. - Leather Donut
Alex- you're completely right. My daughter was nearly beaten up by an older kid at the park and his mother could have intervened but she was too busy chatting about her nail polish on her cell. When I talked harshly to him, he seemed shocked- like nobody had ever told him what to do before. His mother never even looked up or over at us. Ridiculous. - Abby Martin
It's not that we wish to put up with it. We're just too polite to say anything. - Morton Fox
the problem is this: how would you propose to make sure parents CAN control their kids? we can't exactly make vasectomies mandatory - gov't would abuse it - Michael J. Cohen (mjc)
I get head shakes and dirty looks when I discipline my kids in public. By 'discipline', I mean "don't run around the sidewalk" or "sit up straight". Happened 3 times today. Told my son to stop standing in the middle of the staircase. Dirty looks. Assholes. - Anika Malone
This all started when people started getting in trouble for whoopin that ass in public, but seriously, your kids should have a certain amount of fear/respect for you as a parent. A lot of kids I see these days do not have this at all and it's only the "parents" fault. Once again, I point to the Dog Whisperer to illustrate the point further :) - ♫ Rahsheen™
Yup, MJC, that is the million dollar question. How do we compel parents to be responsible without resorting to Big Brother Government, which quite frankly doesn't do a good job of parenting kids in its care either? Perhaps we as a nation need to start getting more assertive "excuse me ma'am, but you need to take care of your kids, this is a public place." I should have tried that...but I'm a wuss. - Alex Scoble CISSP
Rah, agreed. Parents want to be friends with their kids, not act as a parent of the kid. - Rochelle
rah, we should make a baby. kids and dogs just want someone to be in charge. If you aren't, they will be. - Secret Squirrel
Agreed, a lack of parenting harms the kids forever, sort of dooms their future. Plus it's rude and annoying to the rest of us. - Mike Reynolds
It's a vicious cycle that I'm not sure can be corrected unless we stop letting bad parents have kids, which is damn near impossible. - ♫ Rahsheen™
Actually, if we could make our schools not suck so bad, that would be a step in the right direction. Seems like those same sucky parents are the ones teaching everyone else's kids too...lol - ♫ Rahsheen™
Unfortunately, the NUMBER ONE contributor to a child's success in school is...PARENT PARTICIPATION! - Alex Scoble CISSP
If people wanting to have children had to undergo the same process as people wanting to adopt, there would be a far fewer cruddy parents and fewer children too. - Kevin Devin
True, if the parents gave a rat's ass...the schools probably wouldn't be able to get away with sucking so horribly. - ♫ Rahsheen™
I hate bad parenting, too. I'm doing my part by not having children. Don't thank me; it's my civic duty. - MiɳiMagɘ (Sexy Scimitar)
This is one topic I'll be writing about in my blog. - Nick Humphries
This is something I'm passionate about. I see way too many parents who simply don't participate in the lives of their children, others who treat them like luggage and those that fail to understand that THEY are in charge of raising their children. Parenting seems to be looked upon as something to fit into a schedule and look out if it gets in the way of a social life! Grow up and take responsibility. If you don't want to be a parent, don't have the kids. If you do, shut up and *be a parent*. - AJ Kohn
Really good post. I went back and checked my latest project's text -- it scored a 54. Not bad, it's not in the 40's, but it certainly isn't in the 60's either. Something I'll be watching closely in the development of my eLearning modules going forward. - Kevin Devin
“Completed more envelopes, up to contacting 102 school districts with 3 yes, 4 no, 2 asking questions, 1 forwarding to committee, no reply from the others.”
Wow... this fire is only a couple of miles from my parents' home. The weren't any of the evacuees, but wow... literally, "close to home!" - Kevin Devin
Canon DSLR with IS. How will they sell there expensive lenses. Hope it is true but I cant afford to upgrade anyway. - CJPhoto
Still waiting for 5D successor, I want full frame sensor as well. - JC unwired
I haven't seen the mention of IS in the camera, and as others have suggested, Canon already sells a lot of expensive lenses with IS, and may therefore be reluctant to put it in the body. - Dave Roth
There are some good, technical reasons for IS to live in the lens, not the body. That aside, I don't see canon moving IS to the body without also moving to a totally new mount (and series of lenses). - stretta

Seems cool. And it will be interesting to see the 5D successor as well. But me, my 5D is only 7 months old... I'll use it 'till it croaks. - Tom Harrison
The in body IS was a translation error. They were talking about lens IS compatibility. - John Ford
I'm disappointed to see that it has more megapixels on the same size sensor. - TranceMist
TranceMist- What would you expect? That's how it works. At least it's not more megapixels on a smaller sensor. - Alex Scoble CISSP
“Good news and bad news... Good news, I commuted by bike 3 days this week door-to-door for a 12.27 mile trip each way. Significant part is, the last 3/4 of a mile of the ride home is up a good size hill. Bad news... I have to work this weekend to complete a last-minute marketing presentation --...”

I have a pair of those... the only problem I've had with them is if you do attempt to use while traveling -- like in a car. The bumps experienced during the ride/drive tend to cause drop-outs in the audio. - Kevin Devin

Wow, that's a great suit. I'd love to see that in person. - felix
love it...but whats up with the guys legs being exposed. kinda F's it up for me. I mean for such a great job on the suit a little more work would have hid the guy completely. or am i being nitpicky? - Carlos Ayala
He should also occasionally clip someone with the tail, just to keep it real. - Todd Brunner

cool movement. for authenticity's sake, its breath should probably smell like a hot nyc subway restroom - Cee Bee
The legs showing makes no sense to me. Otherwise, Wow! - ♫ Rahsheen™
I didn't even notice the legs until i read the comments. - Jason Toney
Where is this located? I assume somewhere in NYC, but with no sound at the moment I can't figure it out - Bartek Gniado

“Arghhh! I've just heard a news-reader on the ABC Evening News (the Australian ABC, that is) tell us that somebody was making their "first debut" in a cricket team. This, I suppose, is a precursor to their second debut?”
