Glad to hear everyone is safe. I'm arranging for a flyover today on my way to NM, so I'll let you know what I see on the bank's roof. :) PS - had trouble commenting over at your blog. Perhaps a tree hit the comment system. - Kevin Donahue
This link prompted me to check. 4.84% of my blog users are 800x600, everyone else is higher. 4.14% of Fanblogs < 800x600. Interesting. I think more and more that designers need to truly embrace 960GS grids. http://960.gs/ - Kevin Donahue
Don't think I've ever seen a storm benefit from the Everglades as much as Fay has. Incredible. I hope we can learn a lot from this one. - Jared Smith
Katrina got stronger across FL thanks to the glades. It's not a first. - Kevin Donahue
Yeah, this storm seems determined to visit every inch of Florida. - Chris Baskind
Keep a close eye on Fay if you're in Central Florida... the shift west could happen sooner rather than later. Fay is slowing down and possibly stalling out right now - John Frost
It's my first time through a major storm. I'm not worried about the house, but wondering if the kids play structures are safe, what about metal chairs and tables? How about the BBQ Grill? I'm in Orlando, so we're unlikely to get the full force of the winds. - John Frost
it's a judgement call. If you think a 60 plus mph wind can move and dangerous then get in. Orlando may get a big hit with latest tracks. Never assume. - Brad Nickel
I don't think Orlando will be hit with much (at this point). But I take in patio furniture. If your grill is sturdy, get it up close to the wall. No idea about kid structures. See how sturdy they are. - Rob Williams

Someone suggested using ropes and stakes to tie down larger structures. I think I'll give that a try. - John Frost
I think its also important to consider the direction of the items in question. If you consider the direction of the storm, items that can be secured on the north side should fare better than items on the south side of your home. Kudos to those you say "never presume". Even if the storm is light, it can still kick off tornadoes, flooding and other delightful weather conditions. Better safe than sorry and be prepared are the perfect watch words. - Kevin Donahue
I think they should hand these things out at Disney. There are a lot of people who *need* to be invisible. Or at the beach. ((shudder)) - Kevin Donahue
You were watching it but you don't know if it was English broadcast or Spanish? Well... I guess that's not too surprising. Sometimes I watch Univision with the sound off. :-) - Kevin Donahue
