I've only seen this movie once and that is just not enough. O. R. They? - James Ferguson
This is always in my top 3 movies of all times. So awesome. - felix
I'm with felix. Rushmore is a damn fine film. I've watched it dozens of times and it hasn't gotten old. Bill Murray gives an amazing performance. - Kevin D. White
I've seen it twice and it's never clicked for me the way The Royal Tannenbaums did. I figure I'll keep trying it until it takes; I'm sure it will eventually because it feels like it's supposed to. - Akiva Moskovitz
yes, bill murray should have been nominated for an oscar. i love this movie. - edythe
While we're all here talking about the love :) I'll post my top three Wes movies are Rushmore, Darjeeling Ltd and then Bottle Rocket. Liked but didn't love the other two. How about y'alls? - felix
Of the three I've seen, I like them descendingly: Royal Tannenbaums, Rushmore, Life Aquatic. - Akiva Moskovitz
I loved this movie, esp the music. Oh Yoko! - Dave Winer
Good shout Dave the usage of music in Rushmore made it an instant classic. - Toby Graham
oh, so true -- not only is the film a small masterpiece but so is the soundtrack - edythe
+1 for the music - Steve Lynch via Alert Thingy
Life Aquatic is my fave - I seem to be in the minority - Brian Newman
Playing Ooh La La at the end of the film? Perfect. This is Wes Anderson's tour de force. - Mark Wilson
I have watched this movie so many times, it's a little scary. It's amazing to see how young Jason Schwartzman was in this movie. Finest Wes Anderson movie in my opinion: he doesn't "try" as hard as some of his other films (RT) and it shows. "So, this is where it all happens." "Where what happens?" "I wouldn't know." - Jennie Lin
to me, this is still wa's best. although i really do love Bottle Rocket. Then perhaps Life Aquatic. It isn't so much that Life Aquatic is a fantastic movie, but I think it suffers less from "cuteness." I prefer Darjeeling Limited to Tenenbaums. Tenenbaums is last for me, i think. - edythe
@edythe And yet they're all great films - Kevin D. White

Just remember how low beneath mininum wage the wages are in jobs where tips are expected income the next time you feel the service wasn't worth a tip ;) - Michael W. May via twhirl
I get shitty service, you get shitty tip. - Anthony Citrano
Anthony: I agree... in principle. I'm just not convinced that it actually gets the point across. - Roger Benningfield
I usually leave a note explaining why. usually amongst the lines of Tip = Gratuity... =( Then speak with a manager. (I've heard stories about people getting chased once they've left the restaurant) And yes, I've worked in service. - Mona N
Yeah in practice it's messier. I'm a generous tipper and have worked in restaurants - I know many things are beyond a server's control. But don't expect to be able to ignore me and leave my water glass empty all night and get 30%. That's all I'm sayin' - Anthony Citrano
A-MEN.. especially with the "foodie" boom, all these pretentious restaurants with their snooty staff piss me off. I have to be ULTRA nice border line fake in order to get semi decent service. It's tiring. - Mona N
Great pics! I never had the guts to do the ketchup one... - Mitchell Tsai
It's funny but downright rude... - Mona N
In Brooklyn we always heated up the change on a fork but... - Mark Forman
I guess I'm too easy in granting the bad day excuse to people. If I can afford to eat out, I tip, period. - Michael W. May via twhirl
But don't you think that makes it acceptable to give crap service? - Mona N
Say it how it is. - Akshay
i have to side with mwm here, definitely. if the service is really bad--I mean, assuming it is even the server's fault--then i leave less of a tip. otherwise, i always tip 20%. - edythe
polly you're awesome for that. i'm about principle. if a person is a jerk i give them zero.... - Mona N
I'm Mr. Pink. If you've seen Reservoir Dogs, you know my position. I'll tip generously if they do a good job. If not, I've got the smallest violin in the world, playing just for the waiters and waitresses of the world. - Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
OWNED! - k00pa
I think the "Boo. You FAIL" one is the tipping equivalent of teabagging. - Harvey Simmons
HA! Nice comparison, Harvey. :) - Nathaniel Payne
Had a buddy that left a negative tip once. Even subtracted it from the total. Needless to say it was horrible service - andy brudtkuhl
Giving a lower tip for poor service is fine. I do that, and also give higher tips for great service. But doing outright rude things or giving no tip only reflects poorly on you the customer, not the server. - AJ Kohn
Oh, I love, love, love that website. I was just telling my friend about it the other day. Constantly cracks me up (But stiffing a waiter/waitress is wrong. They would have to physically abuse me or something. It's a hard, hard job). - Sarah Perez
The tip is not of much consequence. Bad service means I don't go there again. Ever. - Morton Fox
I think that's rude...but I'm pretty impressed with the ketchup handwriting. - Nicholas Molnar
And mustard underlining. - Anthony Citrano
This is classic! - Tim FitzGerald
I normally round up to the nearest dollar then give 20% on that. Utards tend to be horrible tippers because of the large families so I tend to overcompensate. I can only recall two times I deliberately tipped less than 20%. Once I was short on cash. The other time the server spent the entire time talking to his buddies at the table next to me. - Kevin D. White

I wonder where I could buy some of these ... they strike me as an interesting collectible, though obviously they'll be worthless from a monetary perspective in 6 months. - Alex Power
I just read an article where they have run out of paper to print money. - Sheila Taylor
+1 Alex. People probably do collect Weimar-era German Marks, Confederate money etc. so why not Zimbabwean dollars? Then I thought, "Wouldn't it be funny if you could buy those on eBay?" So of course I checked eBay, and it looks like you can get five $500,000 banknotes for $20. (free shipping!) So for a paltry $2.5 million, at least *someone* in Zimbabwe is going to get considerably more than four oranges. - Karim
Indeed, on queue, a link from Marginal Revolution to an eBay auction of these appeared in Reader literally 5 minutes later. - Alex Power

Is this because there is going to be an increase in demand? Or are there other reasons? I just had a bunch of work done on my bike - guess I'm glad I did. - Kim
Buy a used bike. - Kevin D. White
Increased demand; material costs are way up; and bikes are really an international product. That means lots of transportation, shipping parts and materials all over the place (like most manufactured goods). Probably some greed involved here, too. I can tell you this: local bike shops are not the ones benefitting. - Chris Baskind
I'd only add that fuel prices affect everything, including the shipping/distribution of parts (esp. in a globalized industry). Still geeked that so many more people -- Americans, in particular -- are turning towards sustainable transportation, including bicycles. - Jonathon D. Colman
I quit patching tubes when they got cheap back in the 1980s. Time to re-learn. ;-) - Chris Baskind
@Kevin - I thought the price of the used bikes was high where I got my bike repaired. Of course, I know I'm getting older because my idea of what prices should be is stuck in the late 80's and early 90's. :-) - Kim
Bikes are still a great deal. I worked in a shop back in the early Eighties. Thinking back on what we were selling and how much it cost, you get sooo much more for you dollar these days. - Chris Baskind

"Her future daughter-in-law called dozens of places before finding the Visual Edge, a pin-striping shop in Lascassas, Tenn., which airbrushed a stunning American flag pattern with realistic-looking folds at the bottom of the mixer stand. 'I’m the only woman I know of who polishes her mixer with car wax,' Mullin says." - Michelle Martinez
hee! awesome. - edythe
OMG, I LOVE THIS. I'm slated to purchase my first Kitchen Aid mixer of my very own! - Melissa
We have a Kitchen-Aid mixer. Looks nice on the outside, and it's horribly flimsy on the inside. The gears are made of plastic, and when they fail, most people have to throw them out, not knowing they can buy a replacement gear from specialty parts stores. But for a kitchen appliance made of metal, made to look tough, it's hypocritical to engineer it in such a way that it will fail well before its real expiration date. So, beware of Kitchen-Aid. - Raoul Pop
That make my ole yeller look absolutely ancient. I love it! :) - Mathew A. Koeneker
Raoul, I've heard that, but mine may be old enough that it doesn't count. I've had my 350-watt K-A for over 10 years. I've been calling it "Tank" because all the latest reviews say that they don't last. I think I'll get it painted to look like an M1A1. - Harvey Simmons
Appliances never survive salt water flooding. After Katrina, Mom pulled her Kitchen-Aid mixer out of the muddy ruin of the kitchen, hosed it off, and forgot about it. Much later, someone decided to give it a try. It bitched for a moment, then spun up -- the only electrical device on the lower floor to survive the storm. - Chris Baskind
that is way cool!! - lisa-k
