Is it possible to wake up one morning to find your hair actually wants to be parted to the other side or have I been combing it the wrong direction for 33 years now? - http://kevinmurray.posterous.com/is-it-p...
I really don't see why people would be anything but excited about this Facebook freindfeed deal. Great news as far as I am concerned. The Friend feed team is going to go over facebook and make it that much easier to connect, share... isn't that what the social web is about?
Sure. Fine. But what this represents is that the Valley is stifling innovation. You have 3 companies left - Facebook, Google and Microsoft. The latter two are fighting over Twitter and then it's all done.

Anybody who thinks you can have the experience you have now in FriendFeed, but over on Facebook, either has a crystal ball, or has been ignoring things to date. We'll see. Huge "IT'S COMPLICATED" on this one.
- Louis Gray
FriendFeed is open by design. Facebook is closed by design. Is openness going to win out here? I hope so, but I doubt it.

you assume that that 1) the tech will flow in a quality/best-practice wins manner and 2) turf battles don't exist

FB shoots from the hip, so we have no clue what the future of FF will be under the new ownership. FB ignores its users, FF development team is like a loyal dog. Most of all, I'm concerned that the community I've grown to admire and learn from the last 18 months or so will all go away.
- jcunwired
Not really. I like to keep my FriendFeed subscriptions mostly separate from my Facebook friends. I keep Facebook for personal friends.
- John Wang
That's exactly right, Louis. We need some real innovation and competition here. It's not that I don't like and us FB (as many of you know) but FF is where I live and has always had a different feel. I don't want this to become another Orkut.
- Neal Jansons
The FF team is going to go over to Facebook, get mired in bureaucracy and hate, drop FF and its ideals and function, get disillusioned and after their mandatory waiting period take their money and run.
- Brian Sullivan
Louis Gray pretty much said it '3 companies left Facebook, Google and Microsoft, the latter two are fighting over Twitter and then it's all done. Twitter is the last of the Social Media Innovators, I could see Google or Microsoft making a an offer to Twitter by the end of the year. Social Media works better when you can enjoy and share the whole collaboration experience 'whole package' without having to leave the browser.

To be honest I never had much interest in Facebook until it acquired FriendFeed! Not convinced the acquisition is going to warm me to Facebook, still think Facebook have a way to go with clearing the clutter on the screen (I get FriendFeed, don't get Facebook ...)
- Julie Williams
Is anyone else having an issue logging into feedly? Im logged in to google, but get this screen when I click on my feedly button. I enter my password and it goes right back to the login screen.
What browser do you use? I feel so lost. What am I going to do go outside and actually talk to people???
- Kevin Murray
I always use Safari - therefore, no Feedly.
- Louis Gray
I used to only use safari as well until i met sharaholic and feedly so i moved to firefox. Uninstalled feedly and re-installed, all is right int he world again. have a good Sunday!
