And so it begins. My comments and likes will be deleted. I have backups -- on request I can send anyone interested my old comments to be manually inserted back to their respective entries.
So Facebook entering the picture means I need to turn deletionist for this profile. Not too much committed: 127 comments, 45 likes. Quick poll: which of these would you hate to be deleted? (My decision is not likely to change, but figure it's useful to know). Poll choices in comments:
5. FF post of mine that you commented on

6. FF post of mine that you commented on and had replies to

Oh and hearty congratulations to the friendfeed team. It makes me sad to have to stop using your product somewhat (I'm considering readonly), but you guys built quality tech that solves a need, and deserve your reward. Bittersweet moment for your fans though!

All of the above :( I was using FriendFeed as a delicious replacement and as a place to discuss stuff, and will be quite sad if FriendFeed shuts down. Also private rooms were awesome for company-only discussions, etc.

Is there any news from Facebook or FF on what is going to happen to FriendFeed? I'm hoping that FriendFeed will remain as-is, and Facebook will integrate them into their site. I'll still use it if so.

The issue for me isn't if FF in its present form sticks around. It's that I refuse to provide Facebook with the data I provided FF. I understand this data has been public, but it's a matter of principle. I'll be backing up everything first, of course, but deleting would still mean leaving holes in conversations for others.

found the lightweight image browser I was looking for: feh. http://linuxbrit.co.uk/feh/ . heaps of command line options are a sweet bonus.
hehe true even the bigger ones speak in a kinda cautious tone (as if not to piss Apple off), but I guess it's cos there's no alternative. If you look at it, the AppStore has streamlined mobile app distribution like no one else. It's just that it still has a lot of flaws (which probably is a pointer to how hard the problem actually is)

Good observation but I feel for those abused iPhone devs.
