I love it when the organization a person works for (Hebrew U), has people in house building the future, but they forget to invite them to a panel about what they are doing!

"The one-man show behind Tweetie is Loren Brichter, and I swear - I have no idea when this dude sleeps. He's been pushing out betas of the new release more often than I can count. And now 8 betas later, he's almost ready to send Tweetie in for Apple's approval, which, we have to hope will be quick and painless."

I would download Tweetie if it were free. It is not, so I will not.
- Zachary TG
This might be enough of a reason for me to get away from Twitterrific again and go back to using Tweetie. Can't wait to have a look myself!
- Holger Eilhard
Zachary: why does it have to be free?
- Rutger Blom
Yeah its ok. I wish they have added Posterous support in the same way that SimplyTweet does. Then all tweets that is longer than 140 char get posted automatically to my Posterous blog.

I love their uploader. Better than using the site uploader. You can pause your upload and if you or the app crashes, it will resume the upload

I wish I could have folders and not just icons on the home screen (without jailbreaking). I wish notifications were modeless instead of modal. Can't think of anything else at the moment.
- Jason Wehmhoener
so guys...video and photos are actually pretty decent?
- Zee.
Sound quality is still just awful -- no bass, even with iTunes eq tweaks -- anything with bass is a lost cause
- Christopher Galtenberg
video and photos are ok I guess. I'm not really much into video, and I use my SLR for photos most of the time. Best thing about 3GS is performance. Apps start right up. I have a 1G iTouch and watching "Loading..." for a long time gets old on that thing.
- Jason Wehmhoener
I love my 3GS. The faster processor and RAM make it so amazing. The video and camera is awesome. It is the only thing I use to take pics and videos other than my Flip sometimes.

Generally i miss multitasking, i might have to go back to nokia, camera sux, no flash, no sip, ..

I think you'll see unhappy iPhone users who should have been android users. iPhone is limited if you'd like to fully customize it, but for me, moderate geek that love ease of use and pretty things, it is an awesome device. It replaces my laptop, and as video junkie the video is decent. Won't shoot a vid podcast with it but it is decent enough to remind me of events and such. There a lot of apps, though mail and calendar could have been better.

the only complaint I have (other than AT&T's lousy service) so far has to do with trying to find a decent screen protector. I just threw away more than $20 on what was supposed to be a good one. The phone itself is rockin'... I've heard complaints before about the sound quality when playing music, but that's just not my experience.
- Jim Hearts FF
It's an amazing device for many things. My only complaint is the phone part. I can't hear conversations unless I'm using the headset.

I love, love, love my iPhone 3GS. iTunes bugs me sometimes... but other than that, I'm completely pleased with it. It's fast and can do just about everything I want. Photo and video quality is decent and like Dave above, love the cut and paste. Works flawlessly.

"נכון והזכרתי את זה בפוסט כדבר חיובי. הגישה היא עדיין ניסיון של החברות לשמר דומיננטיות שלא ניתנת לשימור. הפתיחה של גן התוכן אומר שכל בריון שכונתי יכול להכנס פנימה ולעשות מה שבא לו - והמפעיל הסלולרי, הגננת, לא יכול לעשות כלום. קצת כמו בית ספר לא?"

"Thanks for your insights Joe. Standartization flattens competitions and move it away from technology to service, marketing budget etc. If your vision is correct, Twitter as general purpose network will die even faster than I've imagined. Please take a look at my post about an event for IMTC called "2025". It might be interesting for you to speak there."

"Amir - not offended at all, the whole idea of blogging is getting feedback. In your response there is no real distinction between Twitter and Microblogging. If you look at your first paragraph, you are basically describing a microblogging service - something that I agree with you re its value. Re logging in to different sites - people are doing it already, and if there is already an active community there, it means that you have the ability to add this feature without an extra registration process. Also, there might be a scenario of logging to different sites using Facebook, Google, Open ID etc, that will solve the registration issue. And of course, I might be completely wrong :)"

Watch out for @posterous they are making up a lot of ground and getting stronger everyday. They are really working on solving everyone's biggest challenge ... workflow. Compare trying to teach a client to blog with trying to teach a client to email. Everyone emails everyday so, teach your clients to email post@posterous.com game over. This solution is so so simple, thanks for sharing Steve.

If you’re looking for a browser-based substitute, what about Evernote or Ubernote? If you want a desktop application, go with Microsoft’s OneNote.

Wow, seems incredibly feature-packed and polished. View posts based on geotagging or specific services like YouTube? Looks delicious, can't wait to give it a whirl on the train soon.

Sorry for the multi-posts everyone, juggling too much and not paying attention this afternoon. I think I cleaned it all up. That said: Stir is pretty nice so far. Scrolls like butter.
- David Chartier
Hey, i'm the author of Stir. Glad you like it! Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any suggestions or requests :)
- Aaron Brethorst
Please keep us posted on your tests. I've been searching FF to see if anyone was checking it out.
- metalerik
Installed and playing with it now. Really liking this, top work Aaron.
- Keith Bennett
Thanks, Keith! In all seriousness, comments like yours make the four months I spent writing it worthwhile. Also, to everyone who has purchased it: please help me out by leaving a review for it in the AppStore :) Exposing it to more people generates more revenue which lets me spend more time adding new features to it (like support for direct messages, real time support, and so on)
- Aaron Brethorst
What you mean it doesn't do dm or real time??? Well in that case.... Only joking. I'll add a review for the UK store later. In all seriousness, this is a really cool app. It's looking like my default FF app from now on.
- Keith Bennett
thanks again, Keith :) So, the backstory on DM is that this wasn't even supported for third party apps until the release of FF's v2.0 APIs, which only happened a few weeks ago. By then, I was in to final testing of my app, and didn't want to switch over to a new API version or figure out how to shoehorn in a feature I hadn't originally planned on. As far as real-time goes, I spent a lot...

Good to hear mate, always a difficult decision about when to release something I guess. Keep adding those features. Any chance of an option to send something to twitter in the same way you can with the send to facebook?
- Keith Bennett
Also, any chance of setting up a support/feature request group here on FF?
- Keith Bennett
Cheers, will post my requests in there.
- Keith Bennett
Downloading it now. Took a look at the screenshots at the home page, and this looks very promising. Looking forward to testing it soon :)

I already have BuddyFeed which is a pretty decent app. I'll be downloading Stir too. I prefer the FriendFeed service to any other Social Networking destination but have to admit that, especially from the point of view of posting, I use Twitter more. The explanation is simple, superb third party iPhone apps, especially TwittelatorPro which is really best of breed. If Twitter wasn't served so well by the likes of TP then I'd hardly use it at all. Best of luck with this new application.

wish someone would make the blackberry app...
- Richard Reeve
Kudos Aaron. I'm using Stir to post this reply, and I'm really, really liking the app. It's well designed, has pretty much all the FF features (and those it doesn't have look like they'll be coming soon), and it's rock solid. BuddyFeed is good, Stir is way better!
- Brad Brooks
Thanks, Brad. I'm glad you like it. If you have a spare minute, please leave a review on the AppStore :)
- Aaron Brethorst
Awesome, finally another FF app to try! I like BuddyFeed, but it seems like the dev isn't going to update it anymore. That the Stir dev seems active here, fielding questions and requests, is promising. Thanks for posting about it here.
- Cheryl Jones
I've posted a review on the AppStore (UK), Aaron. It should be up soon :)
- Brad Brooks
@Brad: Unless your review gets rejected for objectionable content or something. ;)
- David Chartier
@David: Well, you never know with the AppStore reviewers :D
- Brad Brooks
I'm finally starting to use my FriendFeed account now that there is a decent iPhone App available.
- Justin Stevens
Got it yesterday (after reading it here). So far so good. Very good FF client for the iPhone!
- Peter van Teeseling
I've bought buddyfeed, but I still buy stir, it's much better. I like it.
- pastas9
Seems awesome bit buggy. For enchance, everytime I hit load more it just adds the first batch of updates again with no older updates. Way better features and interface than any of the alternatives though! Will try it again later, maybe the FF API was freacking our with it.

from FreshFeed
Whoops, sorry. Works fine on every feed but everything. It doesn't just not add more either, it addsthe same items already loaded below the current items
- Chris White
Chris- can you follow up with me at support@structlab.com? I'd like to better understand what you're seeing.
- Aaron Brethorst
I just downloaded this app. It replaced FreshFeed as my FriendFeed iPhone app.
- Chris Martin
I really like the UI, but so far it has crashed the three times I've tried using it (once while trying to leave a comment). FreshFeed is a bit more stable, but I just left a comment that got truncated (with no warning from the app). :P
- Cheryl Jones
I downloaded it on David's recommendation. It's a nice app. A few UI quirks and areas I would have designed differently, but a generally positive experience.
- Justin Williams
I've been using amigo for the last few months. how does stir stack up against that app?
- David Miller
Cheryl, Justin - please follow up with me at support@structlab.com. I'd like understand what seems quirky in the ui and get to the bottom of those crashes.
- Aaron Brethorst
I downloaded it, and understandably it's a 1.0 release, but I'm regretting the purchase immediately: the menu system is unintuitive. Clicking on my name doesn't bring up my feed, it brings up my home feed. Clicking the Everyone link brings up the public feed instead of people I'm subscribed to: why is the public feed the top link? There's no link to my discussions page, my likes page,...

Hi Mark - 'My Discussions' is coming in the next release. Likes and comments can—for the time being—be found through saved searches. Direct messages weren't supported through the FriendFeed API until v2.0, which was released about 4 days before I submitted Stir to Apple. Same thing with Best of Day and OAuth. Not sure what I'm going to do regarding my RSS workflow. I've used Google Reader to hold hundreds feeds to allow quick skimming & also used NetNewsWire separately on my Mac and iPhone for only the 10 feeds I loyally read every post from. Now that they're joining forces, I'm sure what I'm going to do. Perhaps setup another GReader account for NNW?
Mike, I haven't tried it but someone I know who uses NNW couldn't sync to google because it had issues with his internal feeds. So I am going to guess 'no'. What about using Vienna (without syncing) for your 10 religious feeds? (If you need the syncing then the 2nd account makes sense.)
- Bill Grant
Ditch Google, no one ever reads those massive OPMLs
- sofarsoShawn
Bill: http://www.vienna-rss.org/vienna2... looks cool but I definitely need the syncing between the Mac and iPhone. I think I will probably create a 2nd Google Reader account to use with NNW as you suggested.
- Mike Bracco
Yeah i've never heard of a syncing solution for the iPhone, only via Viigo on the Blackberry
- sofarsoShawn
sofarsoShawn: NetNewsWire for the Mac and the iPhone app sync absolutely perfectly. It's the best RSS syncing solution for Mac & iPhone
- Mike Bracco
Oh, I meant with google reader sorry
- sofarsoShawn
Why can't you just use folders/labels in Google Reader?
- Kevin Mohr
Yes but I don't know if i can select only certain folders to sync with the NNW client. I only use NNW to read 10 feeds whereas I use google reader for hundreds of feeds.
- Mike Bracco
from email
Use a "Must read" label for your favourites..?
- Jules

I think whatever is in Google Reader Netnewswire will bring down.

Check out feedly. Great ff plugin where you can divide your feeds to tabs
- Kfir Pravda
from iPhone
On the iPhone, you can use Doppler and choose which feeds or folders of your Google Reader you want to sync. That's what I do: I've got 15 "need-to-read" feeds (out of a 100) selected for the iPhone. It's worth the few dollars it costs.
- Patrice-Guy Martin
I would just make a folder (with a name that will sort near the top) in NNW and put your must-read feeds in that folder. While it doesn't remove the clutter of having all the other feeds, it at least would allow you to group your must-reads in one easily findable/accessible place. If you are concerned about syncing time for all the feed, I believe the syncing proceeds alphabetically so feeds in a folder near the top should sync first, and then you can ignore the syncing of other feeds. YMMV.
- Seth Greenblatt
if creating a folder doesn't work, I'd just create a new Google reader account for those 10 feeds and sync that. It sounds like the 2nd simplest solution to me.
