My fantasy scenario: hard drive capacity continues increasing exponentially. The ability to produce new shows does not. Therefore all shows can be stored on every hard drive, and nobody has any time to watch any of them.

Cristo, that would be enough for me. The tricky TV part is making it so my wife (news junkie) is happy. I *think* with an amplifying antenna we could get enough stations that between their news and the Internet she could get what she wants. (The Internet part is trickier than the TV part.)
