Just a little more patience for the Apple iTablet/iPad (iWhatever) ... sure, price tag will be $699 - 849 but you will get what you pay for and it will blow all other tablets away immediately. Don´t cry Arrington.
- HansVanRock
Pricing mentioned earlier was always delusional.

"This certainly paints a picture of a future version of iTunes that supports streaming music."

Perhaps Apple will use Lala to drive traffic to the iTunes store. Imagine discovering a song on Lala, paying 10c to listen to it, then later paying the full price on Lala.com. You go home and fire up iTunes and the song downloads to your computer. Or buying a song on iTunes and have it added to your Lala.com library. With a Lala iPhone app you could possibly stream your entire iTunes collection to your device.

What I don't understand is why no one is talking about StumbleUpon. Nowhere do they tell their users that they are slipping in ads, but one out five pages smell an awful lot like payola. No where on the page does it say that company X is sponsoring that hit, they just try and pretend like it social content that's been recommended by people with similar interests. This seems a lot more deceptive to me than most conflicts of interest

Cool. Would be awesome if we could dynamically add them to a post based on tags :)

BTW - The best ones are behind the link. :)

I've gotten a free book before but I want to level up to "some sweet gadgets"!
- Rochelle
Awesome. But where is "writer is friends on FriendFeed"?
- DeWitt Clinton
DeWitt, I assume we could have made 20 of these. But Jeannine is too good to be free! She got Mad Scrilla for this work. :) I would have added advisory roles and social networking buds, real life buds, friends of a friend, blah blah blah.
- Louis Gray
Davis - there's an icon for sponsored links on the FF and IE toolbars that looks like a dollar sign (at least the last time I used it). Disclosure: I worked on the IE toolbar and put that feature in (to reach feature parity with the Firefox toolbar).
- Matt Mastracci
Louis, these are fabulous. Although, Full Disclosure: The FTC has no jurisdiction where I live :)

Wow! That's huge. RIM, Palm, and Nokia must be quaking in their proverbial boots. Will we see a market develop around Android on the low-end and iPhone OS on the high end or do you predict Android everywhere? How will the OS fragmentation (new phones are shipping with 1.5,1.6 and 2.0 versions of Android) affect the user experience?

"Fuck those condescending, ignorant, self-important, stupid, blind, fearful pricks. Fuck them real hard. Where it hurts. And fucking them real hard where it hurts is exactly what Apple is doing right now."

so the developers of an app that used an API call to return a machine image - created for developers to use by apple themselves in OSX - had their iphone app update (they had already had a v1 app with this already in it approved) blocked because it "looked too much like apple software" were at fault? Apple doing no wrong here? This left users of their software with a known bug and no...

I gotta ask, where on earth did this erronious "Apple does no wrong" meme come from? And this isn't the odd developer here and there complaining, there's quite a number suffering similar problems with Apple being bi-polar in its authorising procedure. Also, speak to the guys who had ipint removed from the store because Guinness wanted to launch their own, or what about the iboobs app...

The problem is not the idea of an app store. The problem is not with the concept of an approvals process either. The problem is with the way Apple are managing the approvals process. Apple needs to have clear guidelines for what can and cannot be approved. Apple needs to have a clear arbitration process for apps that fall in the gray areas. Apple cannot have a double standard with app...

@roberto aye, I wish people would stop banging on about how the web is where all our apps should be. I own an iphone, and I'm extremely happy it has support for local apps as you can't be on the net 24/7 and the speed of it simply isn't enough at times. Imagine you're in a hospital waiting room. You have been asked to turn off your mobile and there is a total lack of anything...

How many iPhone app developers have a problem with app approval process compared to the number of apps available in the app store? Is this a problem of the vocal minority?
- Khürt Williams
considering the Facebook app makers and Rogue Amoeba have called it quits with iphone app development, I'd say this problem is very real.
- alphaxion
oh, and have you seen the majority of the apps on the store? cloned drek for the most part with decent and innovative apps far and few between.
- alphaxion
Alpha - i agree that good apps are few and far between (I rely on reccomendations instead of simply searching). But I'd rather have too many apps to choose from than too few. For twitter alone i've got four iPhone apps.
- Roberto Bonini
Khurt - the problem is very very real. I'm not an iPhone dev, but I feel for my fellow programmers who are.
- Roberto Bonini
oh, I didn't say the number of apps itself was an issue... I merely stated that a good chunk of them shouldn't really have passed the approval process due to being drek or outright clones. It contrasts with decent apps that have problems getting out due to the poor system currently in place - I have a friend who submitted his game to them and had a few issues with getting it out of the doors.
- alphaxion
Oh, yeah, definately. Didin't apple kick a dev off a few months ago for making 500 apps that had somthing to do with junk rss or something.
- Roberto Bonini
This is cool mate. Can I just ask, are you dual posting to there and elsewhere, or dedicated content for the FB page? Also, what made you think about doing an FB page? Just interested, no hidden agenda.
- Keith Bennett
from BuddyFeed
Trying to keep the dual posting to a minimum. I have a couple people over there that don't frequent FF so I thought It'd be a nice way to get some more commentary going.

SyncAcross automatically synchronizes your contacts, calendars and tasks and keeps them up to date. No matter what application you are using or where you are located, your information is always current. It works across platforms for syncing multiple computers and devices. It is currently in beta but if you beg them, they may let you in. :-) So far, it works for Outlook, Gmail, and Mac platforms with iPhone, Blackberry, Win Mobile, and other devices in the works. The site itself, is nicely designed.

Interesting service if Linux (Evolution) once will be supported

Once you discover the App Store, you’ll see how applications can make your iPhone do just about anything. There are thousands of iPhone apps to choose from. Here are a few that will help you get the most out your iPhone, wherever you go.

Goodness gracious he's looking around a lot. Very curious baby.

DGentry: yeah, we noticed that he's a lot more awake than our other two kids were during their first hours alive. Interesting how each kid had a different personality almost immediately. Lots of fun to watch.
- Robert Scoble
Congratulations! Yes - he's very alert - and VERY calm. He already knows the drill!

Mary: yeah, the drill is you gotta get poked and prodded. Hey, it's almost like using Facebook! :-)

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a video screen capture for a Mac, currently using Jing but finding it too limiting. Doesn't have to be free, but not too expensive?
