Borderlands. Preordered it as soon as I got back from PAX. Just learned about Gyromancer, a new puzzle RPG game coming for Xbox Live Arcade from Popcap and Square Enix. Also waiting for Left 4 Dead 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Oh and Forza 3 as well, I suppose. Oh and Bioshock 2. But mostly Borderlands.
- Alex Scoble
Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed 2, Lucidity (downloadable title from Lucasarts - check out the trailers if you haven't seen it; it has a unique art style), Brutal Legend, Alpha Protocol, DJ Hero, Bayonetta, Dead Rising 2, ... I should qualify that I probably won't end up buying all of these, but they're the ones I want to check out.
- Andrew C
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 -- can't. wait.
- Jorge Escobar
Bioshock 2, and of course Starcraft 2 should be out by the end of first half of 2010, so I'll throw that on the heap. :) I used to look forward to Diablo III until I got tired of Blizz dragging their feet (slim-to-none chance of it being released before 2011).

GTI Club Supermini Fiesta, finally a – pretty – good arcade racer on the Wii. If the game is anything like the arcade version that is. Oh and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
- Remo
I'm with Scoble; looking most forward to Borderlands. Also Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age and Brutal Legend.
- Rob H.
Yokiyo, Firby and Noah's Quest.. cause that would mean I'm done with my current projects for Android devices ;)
- Pascal
I am not looking forward to Starcraft 2 but everyone I know is.
- Matt G
I have no idea if it's under development or not, but I would absolutely love to see a new installment in the Legacy of Kain series come out on the Wii. Soul Reaver was one of my favorite games on the Dreamcast, and I'd love to be able to play a similar game using the Wii controller.
- Curtiss Grymala
Kol, Batman is good, i completed it last week, well, the main story anyway and the side missions to go with it. Still a bunch to go to get all the achievements.
- Simon Wicks
Borderlands looks really good: http://www.gametrailers.com/video... - the most interesting game I've seen so far. Most of the shooters I've looked at today all look samey, so nice to see something different with some very interesting ideas (like having your friends drop in and out of your mission game).
- Kol Tregaskes
Woohoo! We're way past Techcrunch Europe on monthly uniques now...Making us the most popular tech blog in Europe! So chuffed. A long way to go though...(updated: this is old. They've caught up this month, but not to worry, we'll surge ahead again soon! :) )
Congrats Zee. I've enjoyed being able to contribute a piece every now and again. Great progress!

Well done! I must say I didn't really know about TNW until I subscribed to you on FriendFeed, and now I'm really impressed by your content. So congratulations :)

I looked at at least two pages of every user who posted. I just started learning, so I bookmarked about 20 pages that I'll be coming back to. This was nice, thanks!

Any one having issues with the Friendfeed App or the Twitter App for Facebook? my FF app hasn't updated my wall since yesterday and for some odd reason the Twitter App was updating my Facebook status.
I see. Thanks. I like the fact that FF is now showing thumbnails instead of 1-line posts though.

I'm pretty sure Scott will say Nemo, but it's Wall-E for me. The story behind Wall-E is epic in scope, definitely a learning story, and beautifully presented.
- Ladybug Heather
Yeah, I've got to go with Nemo...Wall-E was good, but too heavy for my vote.
- Scott of Two Countries
Wall-E: 19, Nemo:10 plus my vote bc those fish are crrrazy ;D

"Lady GaGa becomes just the third artist in the 16-year history of the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart to collect three No. 1 songs from a debut album. "LoveGame" (Interscope) rises 2-1, marking Lady GaGa's third No. 1, following "Just Dance" (two weeks) and "Poker Face" (five weeks). The three songs appear on her top five Billboard 200 album, "The Fame." The set has sold 1,162,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan."

EL OH EL!!! Actually, Tad, it's regurgiated 80's electro-pop. I'll grant she's not a bad singer, tho'.
- Helen Sventitsky
I have never heard of her or any of her songs either. And she looks like a Dawn doll from the 70's that someone dressed up in origami.
- April Russo (app103)
Those eyelashes are rather striking, aren't they?
- Helen Sventitsky
"Top 40 airplay" means most of the radio stations turned over to a pop format. That's all I got out of this article.
- Bryan Penczak
I'm sorry, but whenever I hear the name "Lady GaGa" I get mental images of drag artists.
- alphaxion
People are calling her the next Madonna. She writes her own music, is quite the spectacle, plays instruments, has good stage presence and knows how to make headlines. I'm not saying that I'm a fan (I think her songs are substanceless), but it's at least good to see that our youth are starting to appreciate an entertainer who actually cares about the art of her music, instead of just the art of gaining fame.
- Brad Williamson
Billboard has less relevance and market impact than a canary turd on the coming attractions page that happens to be lining it's cage any more. The milestones of silver, gold, and platinum records were too easy to get by the 1970's and have become easier to get with every passing year.
- Matthew DeVries
I got my picture taken with her at Emerald City Comic Con - its on my bookshelf next to my wife and kids picture. Gotta have priorities when dealing with Jewel Staite. :-)
- Alternating Reality Books
Stargate Atlantis powa ; Jewel Staite really cute
- TiTi
I really liked her as Kaylee, and she was good in Wonderfalls (although her characters was not that likable)... I've yet to see her in Stargate Atlantis however.
- Dean "Karnatos" Michaud
It was great fun, the only thing I wished for was more Alan Rickman, seeing as the title of the book is about his character, I longed for more of snape in it.
- Nick
Ronin for sure, follwoed closely by the fight/chase scene in Matrix Revolution.
- Anika
Surprisingly, for someone who likes car chases, I don't recall them too well. The most recent ones that come to mind are the racing scenes in Fast & Furious and the freeway attack/kidnapping in The Kingdom
- LANjackal
I love the fact that the credits of The Blues Brothers lists 273 stunt drivers
- Glen Campbell, B.A.
I'd have to say "Bullet" & "Ronin" are tide in my mind for best chase scene.
- Bluesun 2600
Mustang vs.Charger, with Steve McQueen as Bullitt, is tops in my book!
- CJ Guest
Just watched Ronin on Youtube, Umm!! kinda lacks action when compared to Matrix Reloaded but never seen that kinda driving before!! Hard to choose between Ronin and Matrix Reloaded though, it's girl on bike v/s girl on the wheel. I say Trinity (in that shiny leather outfit) beats the blonde.
- mridul
for the record: Ronin is REAL bad ass skilled driving, Matrix Reloaded is mostly CG crap! record book closed :)
- Marco
Ronin followed by the original Italian Job (http://www.youtube.com/watch...) Something about mini coopers jumping from rooftop to rooftop that is just awesome :)
- Robert DeBord
Sorry, but you're all wrong :). This is the best car chase ever shot http://www.youtube.com/watch.... 9 minutes, one single take, no speeding up, no special effects, no blocked street, excessively dangerous and perfectly illegal. It's also an amazing tour of Paris. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... for more.
- Jérôme Flipo
every time this question comes up, i am the only person who mentions the jetcar/bike chase at the end of "THX-1138." :-)
- Karim
another vote for Ronin... either one of the 2 car chase scenes in that one edge out French Connection.
- Jim Hearts FF
If you didn't click my link, Jeremy Clarkson said C'était un Rendez-vous "makes Bullitt look like a cartoon". Now, go watch it and let me know your new opinion :) http://www.youtube.com/watch...
- Jérôme Flipo
yeah Matrix Reloaded, Ronin, and Bourne series all have some excellent chases. I haven't seen Bullit or French Connection YET. Hear good things.
- Nathan Chase
While 'C'etait un Rendez vous' isn't strictly a movie chase scene, it's a great drive. My vote is for Ronin though. It's pretty much what you think of when you think of modern car chases.
- Will Higgins™
I hate to say this because the movie itself is absolutely terrible but.. The scene in Bad Boys where the cars are flipping over the Ferrari.. OMGWTFBBQ.. I think CGI is the way to go with car chases..
- Can Koklu
French Connection, Ronin, Bourne movie had a decent one.
- David J Lowe
The Bourne Identity had the best one IMHO, though the one in Bourne Supremacy came close to beating it. Ronin was fantastic too. Michael Bay puts together some entertaining ones, even if they are over the top - the chases in The Rock, Bad Boys, and Bad Boys 2 are definitely fun to watch.
- Eric P
The Dark Knight "prisoner transport" chase was pretty awesome.
- Steve Lynch
from twhirl
The chase scene from Bullit is great. The chase scene with the crane smashing through buildings from Terminator 3 is a fave as well.
- Jeremy Brooks
Great thread, gonna have to go back and watch a few movies. By the way, the horse chase in first Lord of the Rings was quite good :)
- jcunwired
Blues Brothers hands down. Winnebago in a lake, police car lands INSIDE a semi, 20+ police car pile-up, army helicopters, nazis, what else do you need?!
- Peter Ghosh
Blues Brothers & French Connection are tied in my mind for best, but I love the chase scene in "Day Watch" as well.
- Jennifer Dittrich
So which Ronin chase is better, the Audi / Citroen / Mercedes chase or the BMW / Peugeot one later in the movie?
- Andrew Leyden
I don't get scared much of movies, but sit me down with a Silent Hill game in the dark and I won't sleep that night.
- Brooks Bishop
from iPhone
The Shining is one that springs to mind immediately. I think often the ones with less gore, lower body counts, can be the most disturbing and truly scary.
- Patrick Jordan
Audition - japanese horror movie.. the last 5 minutes are so still haunt me
- Wang Yip
Scary: Gone Fishing. The idea that two people that dumb could live that long and procreate scares the hell out of me. Spooky: Maybe Nightmare on Elm Street or Jaws. Not because either are really that spooky while watching, but because they sit at the back of your mind for the rest of your life while you're sleeping or swimming.
- xero
In theatre, bang my knees against the seat in front of me moments: Aliens. And I lost train of thought on the spooky scary
- Michael W. May
The fact that you've even seen Gigli, Louis, will have us all reevaluating you.
- Akiva Moskovitz
The Ring was scary but the scariest for me was The Exorcist and I still have trouble watching that movie.
- Zulema ◕ ◡ ◕
Silent Hill, the game, freaked me out too. :-) Best game for that, even better than Resident Evil, though I prefer playing ResDes in general. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Louis, you've seen Gigli? Shame on you. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
+1 for Jacob's Ladder, although I'm not a fan of the genre, and don't typically see many horror flicks.
- Steve "Daddy do it!" Lacy
Michael, agree on Aliens. I watched Aliens when I was young and the end scared me to death - loved it. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
I thought it ended twice and was wrong :P
- Michael W. May
Honestly, I think Aliens was scariest for me.
- AJ Kohn
Oddly enough? John Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness"...don't know why but it freaks me out.
- ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
American Werewolf in London scared me a lot too. Again I saw that when I was young.
- Kol Tregaskes
Ring (the original japanese version). That movie was really poetic and beautiful, but it really scared me.
- Brome
Aliens got me good, but ok I was what would now be thought of as waaaay too young. I remember hiding behind my mom and under a blanket at the same time. Now its one of my favorites.
- Rasmus Lauridsen
For those who have said the Ring, what did you think of the Ring 2 and have you seen the original Japanese movies?
- Kol Tregaskes
If I think about it, the Grudge (American version) didn't frighten me at all because the scary girl looked like a puppet to me. She didn't look real, she looked like a doll and the whole time I was thinking, "Why would anyone be afraid of a doll?" Idk, it made me laugh mostly
- Zulema ◕ ◡ ◕
Original Ring is definitely better ( I think). I watched the jap before the american one and wasn't really all that scared from the american version. I do think the american one cleared up a lot of stuff that wasn't exactly clear in the jap version though
- Wang Yip
What freaked me out in the Grudge (US version) was the part when Sarah Michelle Gellar was on the bus and she saw the face in the glass.
- Kol Tregaskes
The Ring spooked me out for weeks. I couldn't even walk back to my car alone. Then my brother who graciously walked me to my car needed a lift to his car. If he's spooked, it's spooky. :-|
- Lisa L. Seifert
I didn't think there was such a thing as a scary movie until The Ring (but I've not seen the original.) The Ring 2 was lame.
- Wade Dorrell
Usually what freaks me out (other than the scary jump scenes itself) is the fact that people do weird things in the movies for no reason (like in the Grudge US version, Sarah reaches into a bathtub filled with dark water that you can't see anything in
- Wang Yip
OMG mikepk, especially the scenes where the cop is investigating and matching the missing 'stuff', that is just freaky
- Wang Yip
"Summer with Monica." ***SPOILER ALERT*** most people do not see this as a horror movie because there is a fair amount of nudity in it. :-D see, there's this guy, Harry, and this girl, Monica, and they decide to reject society, get away from it all, and live on a boat. and it's like the best summer ever, because they are spending it languorous and naked in the golden sun and living off...
- Karim
The original Japanese versions of Ju-On (theatre and direct-to-DVD versions) were pretty freaky. I felt like the low-budget look of the direct-to-DVD version made it even more creepy. Plus, there were more scenes with the husband and his reactions to the wife's crush. Japanese and Korean horror films are creepy and pretty gory.
- Cheryl Jones
I know it's probably considered pretty cheesy these days, but I saw the Blair Witch Project in the cinema when it was released and it scared and disturbed me deeply.
- David Young
The Serpent and the Rainbow, biatches.
- Jim Hearts FF
+1 @Wang, definitely the Audition. I never got to see the last five minutes of it and have been waiting for it to come back on TV. I only got to the point where the dude was paralysed before the recording cut out, and I was sooo into the movie. Scariest part of it until then... the body in the sack. Creepy stuff.
- Travis Koger
The original Alien. Scared the crap out of me. There were some scenes where I knew the monster was coming but I still jumped out of my seat when it showed up!
- Alex Hellstrom
from iPod
Blair Witch Project - Saw in some small town in Georgia when I was camping in some deserted area. Odd.
- Mike Reynolds
The Exorcist was definitely one of the scariest, which I saw in a theater.....but I still have problems watching it at home on the TV. The first Alien movie is a close second.
- Bonnie Foster
Crime Statistics, The Depravity of Modern Violent Primitive Paraculture
- Petr Buben
+1 Abby... Tale of Two Sisters was definitely a freaky film. There are still parts of that film I don't understand also. Another film was the original The Eye (??).
- Travis Koger
from iPhone
Mike, yeah Blair Witch spooked me too. I never follow the hype on movies, particular this one and I think it made the movie a whole better.
- Kol Tregaskes
The Grudge scares the absolute bejesus out of me! I always find myself clutching things in front of me and holding my breath.
- Amy
The Exorcist, When A Stranger Calls (the original, not the poxy remake!), The Ring.
- Mellissa Jane
Oh, man, Poltergeist. After seeing that when I was a kid, I had a nightmare about maggots in a can of Coke and couldn't drink anything I couldn't see for months after.
- Akiva Moskovitz
The Ring gave me the freak out, too. So did Blair Witch which I had been following on the Internet long before it was released. I saw the first or second weekend of release at a local indie cinema; best movie-going experience of my adult life.
- Akiva Moskovitz
April - not laughing, just curious - what about The Matrix was scary/spooky for you?
- Alex Hellstrom
from email
Think about it. What if it's true and all this is an illusion and being fed into your brain and everything you think is real, really isn't. The whole idea really wigged me out and was on my mind for quite awhile after seeing the movie.
- April Russo (app103)
Yeah, I can understand being wigged out by that!

"A nice Pixar battle. While "A Bug's Life" was certainly a cute story with excellent characters, Ratatouille was beautiful and tugged at all the right heart strings. A quirky story that worked wonderfully." from my comment at Flickchart.
- Nathan Chase
bugs life is great, but something about Ratatouille just elevates it way above other pixar movies.
- Nick
I have two daughters who would love to join you in that enterprise, Steven.
- Anne Bouey
I don't get why they call them "Vampires" when they don't do a damn vampiric thing by any tradition. Just call them cookoolingus and then you have the same story, and the rest of us can ignore the shit because it doesn't claim to be what we're fans of.
- Matthew DeVries
I would totally join in bashing this film. I've done it about a dozen times already. It's almost a hobby.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
It's just.. I want to go through my entire life without seeing this film. Like Erin Brockovich or Million Dollar Baby.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Haggis is just bitter because he has a twin running around making terrible vampire films with a naked Alyssa Milano while he's stuck here watching terrible vampire films with us.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
What was wrong those movies, Haggis?
- Steven Perez
Ah, I just have a deep seeded hatred for Julia Roberts, and won't watch MDB because I know about the depressing ass ending. Also I don't like Hillary Horseface.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
AND QUIT TRYING TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT! This movie is ripe for mockery!
- Steven Perez
The term is Whore'sface. It's like BFE or Could Care Less. Everyone miss-uses the term.
- Matthew DeVries
OOH OOH! I know the answer to this one! :D
- Steven Perez
Answer is still NO. There is no amount of good nights sleep that can make me change my mind, even if said good nights sleep included a sex marathon with Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johannsen
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
So, that's a maybe? *looks for Jessica Biel and Scarlett Johansen's phone numbers*
- Steven Perez
from IM
Tell ya what, Steven. If you can make that happen, I will watch Twilight for an entire 24 hours.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I'm telling you Bunneh Perez, every time I watch this movie I hear you mocking, "DON'T LOOK IN THE MICROSCOPE" I'm all for a complete review full of mockery!
- Zulema ◕ ◡ ◕
OK Haggis, what'll it take? I bake lots of really awesome things. Name your price.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
That looks suspiciously a lot like your previous answer. Also wrong. Hm. Maybe there's a missed translation between Californian and Texan? :P
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Haggis - You keep resisting man, I give you my strength to hold out. And when you just feel like you can't punch back any more, tag me in and I'll punch for you. Looking at glitter monsters and calling them "Vampires" for reason ain't no way to go through life.
- Matthew DeVries
Life is no fun unless you choose truly awful films to review. MST3K would have been nothing without an endless supply of cinematic dreck. THINK OF TEH CHILDREN!
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Of course, it's always possible that the advertising department knows something about this guy that we don't.

Now, I want to know, how many people, like me, used it for a few minutes and then went back to Firefox or Chrome?
- Mathew™ one of a kind

I agree with Nick. I made the mistake of trying V3 on my Windows machine and I won't do it until I see a compelling reason to for V4.
- Kenton
I'm loving Safari 4 with the Click2Flash flash blocker, and SafariAdBlock addon. Really nice and fast, the Mac OS integration is making me use it most of the time, and FFox3 doesn't seem all that special anymore.
- Siddharth Deb
While FF alone isn't that special. FF with my awesome extentions puts it above the rest. Speed is great and all but, it is not everything. And that is all Safari has in my eyes.
- Mathew™ one of a kind
IMO Safari is a memory hog, and a little slower overall than Chrome, but it seems to run JavaScript more efficiently even if not faster (more even sustained processor utilization, not so many 100% spikes like chrome) FireFox is a deletion candidate, kept around only for testing an bug replication.
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
You know, people talk about Firefox crashing all the time and I just don't see what they are talking about. Firefox has crashed on me twice in the last few months. And that is about as much as any other browser crashes on me.
- Mathew™ one of a kind
The new safari is crashing regularly on me (this is the latest update from the other day 530.17) grrr
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Safari 4's been quick and nary a single crash running over 3 days now with 15+ tabs open. I love the "open address in new tab/window" feature on right-click (as opposed to FFox3 which only has "Open link in new tab/window"- not a text address), as well as the Dictionary integration, Developer tools (though I'm not a dev), Services, better font-rendering and scrolling behaviour.
- Siddharth Deb
I used it for a day and switched back, but I'm keeping it as a backup.

Thanks. I've been having so many problems with the old uploader.
- Nick Humphries
I have no idea if this fixes much by the way. I just saw that they updated the bulk uploader yesterday and posted it here because I'm hopeful that it addresses some of the problems that the old uploader seemed to be having.
- Thomas Hawk
Are there any solutions that allow me to download my entire photostream so I can back it up? An anti-bulk uploader if you will.
- Davis Freeberg
Guess this will kill the 3rd party shareware utilities.
- dthree
Nah, David, I don't think that this will kill the 3rd party apps. I don't know actually that this upgrade really is any big deal except that it may improve some of the specific sorting and double posting problems that the uploader's been having in more recent versions.
- Thomas Hawk
nice. i was hoping the desktop uploader would get updated. the flickr upload in iPhoto needs some work (hello, PROGRESS BARS, anyone?!)

I use the Lightroom plugin for exporting to Flickr. It eliminates an extra step in my workflow.

I use the lightroom plugin as well. Seems to work quite well though some of the automation (ie. marking certain tags as private) doesn't seem to work.

Do the employees at Best Buy get paid on commission? I went in there today and they're like fleas. If you stand still too long, 10 will jump on you before you can get away.
a skillful shopper can keep 3 of them busy running and checking on made up products and prices :D

Earl, that is exactly what I do. Keep them looking for stock. In red.

It's an indirect incentive not a "bonus". Regardless of the semantics, it's a lousy shopping experience compounded by the fact they no little about the products they sell.
- robert holiday
I think they do if they're working the big products - televisions, computers, washing machines, that sort of thing. I could be making that up.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
AIUI, no to commissions on regular items, but yes to extended warranties. And maybe to overpriced accessories like HDMI cables too.
- Andrew C
Interesting! That sounds like a decent way to design commissions - get the whole team to work -as a team-. (I can see how it still might be suboptimal overall if the customer feels taken advantage of.)
- Andrew C
LOL - omg that is so TRUE! I hate going in there for that very reason! and Earl what an absolutely hilarious idea!

Whenever I go to Best Buy, the only part of the store I get bothered in is appliances. Otherwise, I can never find anyone who wants to help me.

Maybe they saw what happened to CompUSA and Circuit City and don't have a backup plan?
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
They didn't when I worked there in '95, and it was a point of pride, but things do change. I couldn't say for sure now.
- Jim Phillips
Minimage, I think Circuit City's wounds were half *from* Best Buy and half self-inflicted. (The latter refers to laying off all the top-paid salespeople to replace them with min-wage labor. Surprise, the sales staff didn't care as much as they used to.)
- Andrew C
I'm not saying that sales reps had anything to do with CUSA and CC's downfalls. What I'm getting at is that maybe the BB folks are trying really hard to secure their jobs by giving customers the kind of service that one cannot get from Newegg or other online dealers (no offense to NE; we've gotten along great, but I don't think their staff can follow me around the site to help me get what I'm looking for; good thing I don't need that).
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
