Какие ещё есть среды для "детского" программирования? Я знаю NetLogo и AgentSheets, ещё была Alice, но это всё лет на 10-12.

@ven: I couldn't agree less :) Guess what, as an example, webkit has 2 major contributing companies and 5-6 contributing less, about 300 commiters and 150 reviewers. It would have disintegrated pretty rapidly if not for good engineering practices. As it stands, and only thanks to this development model it is the major driving force behind modern web.

@ven, @dsl are you talking about the same practices? I can agree with both of you depending on the circumstances :)

@ven: are we talking code quality or engineering practices? These are different things. Gcc btw is one of the anti-examples. For quite a while there was no competing open-source C++ compiler, so all the mice kept eating that cactus. I think gcc code quality is the prime reason why we do not yet have a decent C++ IDE. Luckily, there is clang/llvm now, it is way better written and much more hackable, so people are switching in drones.
