I have been doing some research into the growth of social media recently and it looks pretty similar to me in some ways..in terms of bandwagon jumping by those with money to burn. Ordinary folk just seem to enjoy socialising and talking to people online and as more people are used to being online all the time these days with the spread of broadband and multi-computer homes, there are a lot more people about to chat than there were previously. - Julia Ault

Audience is definately larger and that might be a very important point. Smarter with money may be a different story. We are very conservative at the startup I work for but I have seen other blogs at other startup bragging about buying ikea furniture and aireon chairs right after getting funding. Muhammed - right, but the general consensus around parts of the blogosphere is that people are leaving Twitter in favor of FriendFeed, which will put pressure on FF to duplicate many of the core features of twitter. My concern is that FF will, in doing this, suffer from a case of too many "features". Just my $.02 :) - Brett Kelly
