Contributing by commenting! Love Disqus, it's allowed me to have an in-depth communication with my blog readers. However, live comments would rock.

All this is, is an evolution of IRC chat and Usenet, now web-enabled.
- Victor Panlilio
Because people who think that their site is the only place where discussion lives misses the power and the potential of it. It's not about your blog with FriendFeed, it's about your blog with 5 different sites, all at once.
- Johnny Worthington
Its becomig impossible to track the comments here.:)
- Roberto Bonini
Live is better than the alternatives.
- Eric Logan
Live comments enables you to have a conversation and gain more insight into the topic that's being presented as the audience can facilitate brainstorming and more!
- Eden Hensley
And it's cool pulling in comments from other countries live. It's Sat. morning here in Philippines.
- Nick in Manila
Jesse: Daniel is here, says hi back.
- Robert Scoble
if only it played a teletype noise as they appeared :-)
- Robert O'Callaghan
I'm not sure everything has to be live... live comments might lead to less thoughtful comments. I appreciate when someone writes out a thoughtful comment which enhances a thoughtful blog post.
- Rory Conway
Mark: Disqus is a commenting service for bloggers and those who comment on them. Shoves those comments into friendfeed quickly too!
- Robert Scoble
i'm trying to think of something novel to say here. +1 live commenting
- Charles Ying
I just filmed a video here at Disqus, will get that up soon.
- Robert Scoble
The boundary between IM and A-sync chat disappears, and all of it relevant to the parent topic, indexed and searchable, integrated with identity and exists across the social graph of the people participating.

Roberto: everyone who sees this is rocked by it. They see their world changing.
- Robert Scoble
Live comments rock. Would love to see live + shareability integrate - comment live, then broadcast it elsewhere to drive people back to where you're commenting.
- Suzi Craig
friendfeed chat is here, very useful, when did this come out? today?
- David Lynch
Brian: but that one needs to be refreshed manually.
- Robert Scoble
No it doesn't not in my browser anyway.
- Brian Sullivan
Because live and dynamic interaction is where this has all been going from the beginning. The only reason we were doing it the other way was a limitation in the technology that isn't there anymore.
- Neal Jansons
Trying to wrap my head around what live comments offer smaller, less active communities...I guess the ability to have livelier exchanges when the conversation heats up.
- Scott Rogers
If Friendfeed is the new IRC, then I'll have some popcorn while waiting for the bad ASCII art to appear.
- Heather
Actually, there are more spam messages coming through Disqus lately. They may want to clamp down on that challenge but I'm not sure how ...
- LPH™ and his dog P™
Ok. I love Disqus too. Whatever you tell them treat them right. It's hard to beat FF anyways.
- Carlos Lorenzo
I'm glad they haven't invented smellivision yet ;-)
- Richard
Only one problem - my comments to FF get pushed to Twitter, which posts to my wall on FaceBook. Too many feedback loops.
- Victor Panlilio
Live comments would be very cool. No more double "First".

Scobleizernatordebutantificator: Will have another Guinness, then comment. Transparency is much more fun with booze. At least for the recipient . . .
- Suzi Craig
hey, why not. Better, hook with Twitter, and everytime I have an @me, it sends me an email as if someone commented on my blog or replied to one of my comments, and I can reply to this message from my email. Twitter should be more like Disqus! Real time is just a buzz.
- xavier vespa
Robert, you've successfully got me on FF bandwagon.
- Adi
Checking out FF for the first time. Cool...I like it. Thanks, Robert.
- Anthony Weeks
This is the day of interactive communications and rapid feedback. CNN gets interaction and rapid feedback from its polls and Larry King call-ins. Bloggers get interaction and rapid feedback from blog comments.
- Greg Griffith
I'd also like a few more basic features to work in Disqus. Like allowing readers to subscribe to *all* of a post's comments via email - currently they can only get emails when someone hits the little Reply button below a comment of theirs. A lot of folks like following all comments on a post once they're in on it. Also would like to be able to moderate trackbacks without workarounds, and to have the whole Moderation section work much better ...
- Patrick Jordan
real-time is the future and will push filter and discovery.....
- david fishman
Real time comments in blogs FTW !!!
- Nir Ben Yona
I've actually got this little popup friendfeed window open... it's taking up way too much of my life right now. ;)
- Susan
Agreed. FF beta is the way forward, and live Disqus comments can only strengthen that. Today's @oprah and @aplusk will add awareness to the social web, but as long as FF and D continue, the social web will truly move along.
- Pinksy
@Giannii, can you give details on how soon email subscriptions are coming? In this thread http://disqus.disqus.com/notify_... Daniel Ha said you guys were working on email subscriptions a year ago.
- Rob Boek
@ Giannii - cool, glad to hear it. Please look into better / more complete Moderation as well. As it stands now, you lose a lot when turning Disqus on for a Wordpress blog (vs. what we had before in Wordpress's own admin panel) ...
- Patrick Jordan
I just recently added Disqus comments to my tumblr blog and love it so far. Live would be very cool.
- mrsha
Oh, Rob's point reminds me of another. You need to improve support please. The Support Wiki strikes me as very badly organized and hence nearly useless, and the support forums have questions that sit there for days and days and days with zero response ...
- Patrick Jordan
Uh, duh, cause it's more useful. Live web updates (like beta.ff) allows you to participate in real time if you're able. Gets a touch closer to actual human conversations from the average comment board. And live commenting on a blog or FF doesn't necessarily demand all attention like IRC or IM would tend to make you feel you have to stay participating. Remember, some people still have fun with the conversation and add value even though they don't realize it's live - they just read a stream, add a comm...
- Shane Curcuru
... ment like it's just a plain old blog. (Hmm, FF comments have a limit, eh). Key features are still making it easy and seamless for all users to participate. Oh, and make sure you place nicely with other tools.
- Shane Curcuru
@ Giannii - my support experience may not be typical then - but over the course of submitting four separate queries, I've never had timely or effective response. My first query sat on the forum for 7-8 days with no response until I searched out a Disqus Twitter account and (twice) tweeted asking whether Disqus provides any support. Another consistent thing on all my queries was that there would be no response for quite some time, followed by a request to try something I had already stated I'd tried in my
- Patrick Jordan
Cont'd: original post. All four issues ended up being genuine problems / bugs / missing features as well - so they were not user error type stuff. Again, mine may not be the typical experience, but having had very poor response on four separate queries over a period of 2 -3 weeks does not strike me as just a single off day or bad luck kinda thing either ...
- Patrick Jordan
The real question here is whether it would be smarter and easier to bring blogging here (and have FF entries replace blog entries) rather than bringing real time commenting to blogs.
- Brian Sullivan
This is very interesting. If Disqus had live comments and seamless FF integration all packaged together ready to plug into your website/blog/whatever it would be clearly different to any other system. Juggling various sources of information and discussions on multiple platforms is time-consuming so if you offer a solution to that you will win. Show how ppl can feed everything into FF and from there in and out to their sites...or whatever way so that it can all be bundled and managed. Keep us informed!
- WorldofHiglet
@ Giannii - thank you. I like Disqus a whole lot - its features are great, if support is improved it will really be the bomb ...
- Patrick Jordan
Disqus, Friendfeed and Twitter shld merge, and make this integration a lot easier for all of us.
- William Mougayar
I agree with William M. Social network feeders need to lead the new era of collaboration. If universities can do it and disciplines can do it, then sites need to get on board and either merge or work together more coherently to offer better integration for users

Every single STINKIN weekend for the past MONTH, every time it's time to mow my lawn (aka Friday), IT RAINS! My backyard is a JUNGLE of WEEDS! :(
