That is pretty sad to hear. Maybe it might have worked better if the TWiP folks said, "donate $40 to a fund we established to help defend photographers and get a free t-shirt" instead of "buy a t-shirt for $40 and some of the money will go to help photographers". The result is the same, but one sounds a little better/legit than the other.

Wouldn't it be nice if they were raising money to help photographers? What they are actually doing "is a fund-raiser aimed at helping defray bandwidth costs".

wishing I could do a meaningful diff on Word documents
I've been wishing this for years. The best I've seen is in Sharepoint where one can diff the current version of a Word doc with any previous one, Wikipedia style. But one has to resort to (mediocre) third party tools to do diffs of docs under development.
