"I had my pre-ordered Windows 7 Home Premium delivered on 23rd October. I'd built a new computer back in March and had run the 64-bit beta and RC on it. When my new 1TB HD arrived shortly afterwards I installed it as the primary drive and installed the RTM 64-bit version on it. I'm using it on that computer in tandem with XP 32-bit on another box. I built the 7 box as if I were building for Vista, using an AMD Phenom 3-core CPU, and, initially, 4 GBs RAM, which I later increased to 8GBs. 7 RC (64-bit) once used over 7GB during a huge file-transfer of about 35GBs of data, otherwise the memory usage has never gone much above 3GBs. To be honest I see a few similarities to, or maybe attempted facsimilies of, Ubuntu Linux, such as the Users folder replacing Documents and Settings, and the enhanced security settings, which somehow have a Linux-y taste to them in some way. Previous to the launch I'd heard some commentators saying that Microsoft were attempting to make 7 seem like Mac osX in..."
