Re: Kepler-22b could be inhabited - http://www.independent.co.uk/news...
"...Unless, of course, you're in some sort of warp-field; which renders your vessel in a sense separate from the time/space continuum. - Maybe I've been watching too much Star-Trek, but this has never been ruled out as a possibility." - Sharron Field
Re: Google Takeout Is Good And You Should Use It - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
"I'll just back up VIVROCKS' comment above: Facebook allows you to download a folder of absolutely everything; deleted and still-posted, that you've ever posted on Facebook since the day you started your account. This includes everything; text, data, pics, the lot. You can get yours by going to Facebook, clicking Home>Account Settings, and click the link "Download a copy of your Facebook data"." - Sharron Field
Re: Which Is Better: Google Plus Pages Or Facebook Pages? - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
"Addy everything Google - well OK, a lot of things Google - is seemingly perpetually in beta, so it's no surprise that G+ goes along with that trend." - Sharron Field
Re: Is Data Hoarding Bad? - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
"Interesting that you write this article at this point: I just deleted 150 gigs of crap and overly-copied stuff this last week. - Great minds think alike. :)" - Sharron Field
Re: 67% of Online Adults Use Social Media To Stay In Touch With Friends - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
"I thought exactly the same myself as I was reading. Loads and loads of entrepreneurs are climbing aboard the Facebook commercial bandwagon; a lot of them with products that really suck too I noticed - It's basically totally unregulated, and Facebook will seemingly advertise anything if they get paid. It's getting to the point where a noticeable percentage of  users are harnessing the site's marketing potential. - So where are they in the results? If I didn't know better it would appear that Pew were trying to avoid mentioning internet marketers." - Sharron Field
Re: Foursquare's Website Just Got a Whole Lot More Useful - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
"One question: Where is the sense in Facebook having any sort of privacy settings when you can just log into Foursquare and find out everything about your friends that Facebook would get shut down for even hinting at? - Even where they are now and what they're doing, + what they've been doing all day in what location. - It even provides you with a map!: All this while Facebook face lawsuits for letting people know you exist. Yes I do realise it's based on consent. - And it's so good to know that you'll never get lost in your own neighbourhood too. Isn't it strange that I was born before the iPad/iPhone/Android/PC/Mac. I think they invented the pocket calculator the year I was born come to think of it... Guess what? - I never got lost, even outside my own neighbourhood. It was in the days when we used that disused grey organ called a brain... ;)" - Sharron Field
Re: Spreecast, a More Social Answer to Google+ Hangouts, Goes Live Today - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
"Yet another social-network! - I guess it gives me a bit more scope on publicity as soon as I get my ass over there and sign up. - But realistically how many more social-networks do we need? I have a feeling that this one will give a lot more credence to direct video communication and online conferencing. Initial impressions from a quick read of the description above give me the idea of a cross between Facebook and Windows Live Messenger. No doubt it'll aid the online porn-explosion with live cyber-orgies becoming the norm if WLM is anything to go by. :S (Not guilty.)" - Sharron Field
Re: Teens Don't Live in Public on Social Media Sites - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
"In my opinion, as I posted on Facebook, teens are becoming rather insular; caused to some extent and in some cases by having the paranoid views of semi-functional parents imposed upon them. The bigger picture could be that this is a prerequisite for the end of social networking as we know it in the future - perhaps? In typical teen-style I'll conclude by saying tht idky they hav 2 b like it, yh? 2 me iz not kl. :(" - Sharron Field
Re: Facebook Restores the Old News Feed - http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive...
"Why couldn't Facebook have given their users the choice in the first place? IMO it's time they started thinking about what their users want rather than what they (Facebook) want. Mark Zuckerberg has a good thing going at the moment - but if they try to be too clever I fear he's going to see his ship that sailed in with a cargo of dollars sinking. OK trial and error leads to progress; but pissing users off while doing so leads to a lack of users." - Sharron Field
Re: Google Chrome Is Becoming The Next Internet Explorer - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
"Yeah David; I think it's the latter. - I know that many non-geeky people I know use IE because it was there from the start and can't be arsed to change it. To their mind it works so why fix it? - Lol if only they knew..." - Sharron Field
Re: Poorly PC? Reimage may well be the answer! [Review] - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
""...recent crashes and viruses and malware. It didn’t find any of these which is good as I’m running Norton Internet Security 2011." - WHAT!? - Is this guy for real?" - Sharron Field
Re: The New DavidRisley.com Office - http://www.davidrisley.com/the-new...
"'Love the new setup. Nice one! - So you're going to be doing a lot more video-blogging. Perhaps you could produce a video on successful video-blogging and the best techniques to employ to be successful at it? - That's probably worth paying for come to think of it. - Perhaps you might do a basic one for posting on this blog for free viewing, and also a more in-depth version that people can buy?" - Sharron Field
Re: AMD Is Still The Way To Go For The Budget-Minded - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
"Yep - I've always been a fan of AMD. As you may or may not know I used to build computers. I still do occasionally come to that. For the best bang-for-buck ratio it's always been AMD, ever since the single-cored Athlon 64; maybe even before that. Rarely did I use Intel. Having said that, though, I do remember publishing an article on my blog (In 2009. - It got lost in the November 2010 rebuild.) giving suggestions for building a budget PC using an Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5700. - Now in Intel's favour that is great value. - So AMD don't always win on price. :)" - Sharron Field
Re: Retro Friday: Windows XP - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
"I always liked XP: Even when I started using Windows 7 from the beta version onwards, I still mainly used XP. Only this year have I stopped using it. I think the greatest thing about XP is the speed with which it executes 2D graphics and runs office-type applications. - As an office and general-purpose o/s not even Windows 7 can touch it. Having said that; XP doesn't support multi-core processors like Win 7 does, has no support for ACHI as such... And lots more. It is, after seemingly aeons, falling by the wayside." - Sharron Field
Re: The Blogger Cycle of Stupid - http://www.davidrisley.com/stupid...
"There's a free plugin for WordPress called "Private! WordPress Access Control Manager" which may be what you're looking for to start off with. You can configure individual areas as members-only areas. There may be issues integrating it with other content-management systems, though; so, after very little time has elapsed and things swiftly progress, you might find paid-for alternatives suit you better." - Sharron Field
Re: How “Blog Monetization” Is Just Completely Wrong - http://www.davidrisley.com/blog-mo...
"This appears to be, in essence, a discussion of the question: "What came first; the chicken or the egg?" : Do you start off with an egg and hope it hatches into a chicken? - Or do you start off with a chick, a young chicken, and nurture it and grow it to a mature chicken in order that it can produce eggs? Some eggs don't hatch, some chickens don't lay. Is there really a right way and a wrong way to go about it?" - Sharron Field

"Who the heck is Colin Cancer? Is he related to Colin Powell?" - Sharron Field
Re: RoboCommissions – Automated Webinars Without The Hassle - http://www.davidrisley.com/robocom...
"If you wouldn't even promote it if you didn't know Ryan personally; then that makes me want to ask whether people who don't know Ryan personally would buy it? Whilst I appreciate that the product now has the seal of approval of a reliable top-internet-marketer and someone who knows their stuff, namely yourself, thereby more than doubling its social-proof, I remain somewhat dubious, due to my not knowing Ryan personally; - only having heard of Ryan via yourself and maybe a couple of other sources." - Sharron Field
Re: Ponderings: Do You Use SEO on Your Blog? - http://pegfitzpatrick.com/2011...
"I, personally, have picked up quite a number of SEO-tactics over the time that I've been blogging. I think some of the best of those, though, are the use of 3 free plugins in my self-hosted WordPress blog at kkomp.com. The first of these has already been mentioned; the All-in-One-SEO plugin. That plugin is run in conjunction with Google Sitemaps. Google Siremaps is a plugin that constructs an xml sitemap, so that when Google's spiders, and those of many other search-engines, crawl the blog, they find that the contents have been conveniently indexed for them, and they have no problems with picking up any recently-posted or edited material in order to present it for listing on the respective search-engine. The third plugin is W3 Total Cache: Although this is primarily a performance-enhancement plugin; usage and proper configuration of it not only speeds-up your blogs' response-times, but also gets you a higher search-engine-ranking as a result. There's a lot more; but for the sake of..." - Sharron Field
Re: How To Get Rid Of Hissing Noise From A USB Headset’s Microphone - http://www.pcmech.com/article...
"Having categorised some the various circumstances in which white-noise may occur, it does seem a bit of a slap-dash finale to end with the words "plug your USB headset w/mic into a USB port directly on the PC and not into a USB hub, and any white noise should go away immediately." - Surely it's not that simple to solve?" - Sharron Field
