"Yeah, I'm not sure why Vodpod does that, possibly the video was loading when it grabbed the thumbnail. Not that effective for video SEO, huh? ;-)"
- Larry Kless
"Nice post Mark, great tips from Dr. Pete, obvious but often overlooked. Our friends at TubeMogul agree with video load times. You are rocking the Streaming Media West and OVP Summit coverage! ;-)"
- Larry Kless
"Hey Jacki, thanks for sharing your perspective. What I liked about this video is that the filmmakers used low cost tools available to anyone to "up the production value." Not everyone can afford full HD 1080p, professional boom mics, lighting and everything it takes to make a broadcast quality production. But you can still produce high quality YouTube HD at 720p with pocket cams and a few accessories. I thought what Don Lemon deom CNN had to say about the shift in news reporting is very telling of how far things have shifted to the UGC aesthetic."

Re: Livestream Launches Live Mobile HD Streaming with Livepack, Say Goodbye to Expensive Satellite Uplink Trucks - http://klessblog.blogspot.com/2009...
"HI Stu, Since this is a brand new service I'm not aware of any affilliate programs that offer daily rentals. I'll look into it though. The monthly rental price is very affordable when you consider the bandwidth costs alone at hotel rates for dedicated bandwidth and static IP. Livestream has a free, ad-supported service, and a premium service that gives producers advanced features (remove ads, high quality, widescreen, white label, privacy options, etc.) starting at $350 per month."

"What a wonderful opportunity! Sony is lucky to have you as their new corporate blogger vlogger. You're going to have a blast and get paid for it too! While you'll be leaving your home of San Francisco which is a city like no other, what better place to move to than San Diego? I see it now, Sukhjit 3.0 live from Comic-con 2010! ;-) All the best to you Sukhjit and the SF Bay Area will miss you!"

"Hi Kfir, sorry for the delayed response, I'm glad you took the time to leave your comment. Thanks, I did check out your blog and subscribed. We are interested in the same topics and I'm glad to connect with you. I'll be writing some posts on virtual conferences and events in the near future. I've been producing a lot of virtual events for corporate clients combining video and web conferencing over the last year."

"This will most definitely give Google the edge in an area it has not been before. As I made my way through the various discussions it all pointed to a major game-changer for the online video industry which digging its roots into search, marketing and advertising. We'll know more in the next coming months and it will be very interesting indeed. ;-)"

"Hi Kye, sorry for the delayed response. It is pretty remarkable when you consider the forecast that 64% of the video growth will be mobile. I agree that the mobile video needs vast improvements too and I think we'll see that in time with the roll out of the 4G network. We'll also see a lot of development in that area when the Apple tablet and others hit the market."

Re: Blip.tv Announces Major Distribution Partnerships with YouTube, Vimeo, Roku and Others; Launches New Show Creator Dashboard - http://klessblog.blogspot.com/2009...
"Hey Kye, Yes, it's been great to watch Blip's success as a distribution network for web television and expand into linear television along with its current deals with Sony Bravia, Tivo and Verizon and others. TubeMogul has also emerged as a leader in the online video space and it's no surprise that they are a key partner in this announcement. I use both Blip and TubeMogul to distribute and syndicate my videos and I'm particularly interested in seeing the opportunities for web television creators grow."
- Larry Kless
Perhaps I owe an explanation. I'm expecting my account with Facebook to be suspended at any time. Hence my surprise when I found it still in tact. While we're at it, I joined two conservative alternatives today: KicSpace and Freedom Torch. Why don't you guys join me?

I thought it was going to be an ad for the SciFi channel...

I kept waiting for that zombie to pop up - you know the one I'm talking about (from that German energy drink commercial series).

I just want to know what they were imbibing when they brainstormed this campaign.

"Hi Kye, thanks for your comment. Using video to engage customers is a real way to monetize your business rather than following the broadcast TV model of selling ads to buy airtime. The video Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos produced to discuss the purchase of Zappos yesterday is a great example of this. While the video is on YouTube and not on his site it's follows the trend you say about being more realistic with consumers. http://www.youtube.com/watch..."

"See Michael Arrington's post this evening on Techcrunch for more information. Excerpted below: Ooyala Hits Profitability In A Crowded Market, Looking For A New CEO http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...... "... Bismarck Lepe, the current CEO, says he’s actually been looking for his replacement for the last year. This isn’t being driven by the venture investor, Sierra Ventures, he says. And in fact the founding team retains stock and board of directors voting control, making their consent a requirement of any CEO change. Lepe just feels as though he isn’t necessarily the guy to take the company to the next level, whatever that may be. So he’s retained a search firm to find someone better than him to run Ooyala...""
- Larry Kless
"Hi Larry, I checked with Ooyala and the company has confirmed it has been looking at CEO candidates to see if there is great talent out there. They're very happy with the job that the current CEO is doing, but want to see who is available in the future."

"I'm actually watching the DVD right now and I think the Watchmen film was a great adaptation of one of the greatest comic book series. You make some great points about the way the media focused on Dr. Manhattan's blue private parts but that's what they do when they don;t understand art. Regardless of the criticism it will be celebrated by fans for years to come."

A contortionist could probably get the underwear completely over his face. It almost makes me wish that That's Incredible! was still on the air. Fran Tarkenton could take this bit to the MOON! (If the Moon actually existed and wasn't fabricated by the Kennedy Administration, that is!)

I would much prefer to watch this event on ladies' night. Oh wait, that was Aerobicize in the 80's.

"Hi Scott, I love the contextual perspective. It really turns things around into more "the message is the medium" and all the technology while key to delivering the message, is not the lead. Compelling content + context = engagement x interactivity = extended reach! ;-) Larry"

"Beer has come a long way since breweries first had the idea of developing can packaging nearly 100 years ago. In the early 1900s, breweries had a problem producing a can that would withstand the pasteurization process and allow the beer to still taste good when it reached the consumer. In order to withstand the heat and pressure of the process, the first beer cans were constructed of tin and steel and were much more thick and sturdy than the ones we see today. By 1935, the first commercially produced beer in a can hit the market."

I still have my old beer can collection tucked in my parents crawl space. Beer can collecting was big in the 70's. I recognized a lot of those cans, but didn't see Old Frothingslosh.
