9 Semantic Search Engines That Will Change the World of Search
"The ideal search engine would be able to match the search queries to the exact context and return results within that context. While Google, Yahoo and Live continue to hold sway in search, here are the engines that take a semantics (meaning) based approach, the end result being more relevant search results which are based on the semantics and meaning of the query, and not dependent upon preset keyword groupings or inbound link measurement algorithms, which make the more traditional search engines easier to game, thus including more spam oriented results." - Kol Tregaskes from Bookmarklet
good one :] ... Il mention http://webSearch.nexo.com - my list, from that .. htp://RedZee.com , http://clusty.com .. but there is more - pb:
Kosmix is brilliant and is my top alternative to Google. Also their MeeHive news digest-style page is excellent: http://meehive.com/. - Kol Tregaskes
Kosmix looks kind of lame because down in their "picture of the day" content they have a tab for Kodak before the one for flickr. Does anyone use Kodak? Also, the tabs, etc don't seem to work - at least not while I'm using Google Chrome. - iTad
I hadn't realized there are 9 already. Way to go... keyword + meaning = semantic - Yann Ropars
the ideal semantic thingie would allow to combine more than one of those technologies in one framework: http://eclipse.org/smila (and wld be FOSS of course) - Helge Brzoska
Kosmix (1 out of the 9) has horrible scripting issues (largest one is externally loaded, can be fixed) - possibly the slowest loading page of all time. - CLC Radio
It will be interesting to see if there is ever another Google - rob
