Well, the 32 pin connector has been the same since the first USB iPod. So that's, what, 8 years? Maybe longer? But still, I'm with you. If ain't broke, don't fix it.

They could do this in a way that's minimally disruptive. All new devices will come with the proper cord anyway, so as long as the other end is USB and you can still use existing AC-to-USB (or car cigarette lighter-to-USB) power adapters, it won't be a big deal. But if they change the power requirements, it's almost certain to piss people off.

Of course, it would be simpler if airplanes used standard power plugs...
