Apple Store (U.S.) - Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse
I used to think that all mouses were created equal by and large, and then I started using this wireless Apple mouse that makes me realize how truly inferior every other mouse I've ever used is. - Thomas Hawk from Bookmarklet
I really dislike the mighty mouse. I got a logitech wireless two button mouse with a scroll wheel and I'm much happier. My brain really wants the right click, left click functionality. - Jason Toney
I recently bought Apple Wireless Keyboard, and instantly thrown away all the others. And it works well with PC, too. So, after your comment, the mouse is next on my list (untill I buy a mac). - Mladen Srdić from twhirl
Jason the Mighty Mouse does do right click. You just have to configure it that way in the settings panel. I use right click with this mouse all the time. - Thomas Hawk
I use right click easily on this mouse. From Apple: "Mighty Mouse allows you to right click without a right button. Capacitive sensors under Mighty Mouse’s seamless top shell detect where your fingers are and predict your clicking intentions, so you don’t need two buttons — just two fingers. Click on the left side to use Mighty Mouse in its simplest, single-button form. Click on the... more... - Thomas Hawk
The best mouse I've ever used is a 5+ year old microsoft intellipoint trackball. I can't stand having to move some device all over my desk. - Kevin Shea
I love the MM. Using it now. - Ⓒⓗⓡⓘⓢ Ⓟⓘⓡⓘⓛⓛⓞ
I think this is the only Apple product that I don't like. Unergonomic, doesn't have the back/forward buttons for the browser. I use a 6 button Logitech mouse :) - Andru Edwards
Using now. I love my MM and wireless keyboard... until the batteries go - Sally Church
I enjoy using this mouse - it's the best one I've ever used. - Kevin Cearns
OK, you've convinced me to go out and buy a MM. - Mike Doeff
Oooh, I need a revolution for the office. I have the VX Nano at home. - Jason Toney
That little scroll ball... omg, I love it. I can't live without that thing when on a mac. - Brandon
Am I the only person who hates the MM? I've had two and both = FAIL - Mona Nomura
Brandon, that little scroll ball is amazing. I love how responsive it is and it goes both horizontal and vertical. - Thomas Hawk
I had a wired Mighty Mouse and I didn't like it. Now I actually use a Wacom tablet with my iMac. I like it much better than using any mouse. - Cheryl Jones
@Thomas Hawk I hate using the scroll anyway. Actually, I hate mice! :) They are useful, but what I really want, is iris-detection based windows focus (mebbe while holding a key down => ctrl + look somewhere on the screen for focus) - Shivanand Velmurugan
LOL @ dissecting!! I dissected my TV before and got in A LOT of trouble. But the little ball is the one thing that I always have problems with.. =( - Mona Nomura
@Thomas Have you tried a Wacom Tablet? - Andrew Smith
As much as I hate the MM I have to admit that it is a very strong piece of hardware. It had survived the several time I threw it on the floor when the damn non-existent-right-button fails. - pn
I love the mighty mouse, except for the dirty nipple. It stopped working after kids eating chips on the computer. How do you clean the nipple? - Tracy Ruggles
I got bad hand cramps after just a few minutes of using the MM. It made me realize how much I pick up the mouse while using it (which I hear is bad for you) but that habit made it even worse for me with the MM. Same problem affected me on the Logitech Revolution. That wheel on the thumb side never let me grab it firmly so cramps happened also. This led me to stop spending money experimenting with mice--a good thing probably. - Gus Perez
But how do you clean one that doesn't scroll right any more?? - RevTim from twhirl
I was about flutter my eyelids and shoot off a tweet about my Apple wirelss keyboard. Spectacular in every way possible.. - The Fat Oracle
I like my wireless MM, particularly the sideways scrolling. I've become adept at the scrubbing action necessary to unclog it. For some reason, however, the right-mouse click seldom works for me. - Kevin Johnson from twhirl
I can't use the mm, gives me horrible cramps in my hands. - Sam Levine
To clean the MM ball put the MM upside down over a slightly damp thin lintless cloth or towel on a table and move it around while pressing down lightly so that the ball moves around. The gunk eventually falls out. Works for me anyway. - Fred Yankowski
Horrible, horrible miscegenation. Nasty flat profile that doesn't fit my hand the way even a $20 generic mouse does; slippery surface (hint: friction reduces effort); stupid easily-accidentally-triggered squeeze buttons; gratuitously nonstandard tilt action for clicking; nasty scrollball thing that's so small you can't even get a decent scroll distance with one finger movement. The worst mouse I've used in 20 years of computing; even the original clunky Mac mouse with the square button was better than this. - hex
Can't actually say I've used the MM, but I've trailed lots of mice in stores. My favorite, strangely, is still the Microsoft Basic optical mouse. There are two key reasons for this: 1. It's light ... many of the fancier mice are just too heavy. 2. The scroll wheel middle click toughness to scroll resistance is balanced nicely ... many mice have a really loose scroll and a really tough middle click - I hate that because it induces cut-n-paste related RSI. - Andrew Perry

@Maverick_NY I am definitely getting an external battery for the iPhone.
I just got one. I believe you also need to do it if you want to stop carrying 3 phones with you :) - santiromero
ordered 2 yesterday - Kevin Shea
santiromero I will need three phones no matter what I do. One for talking and photos. One for Web. One for video. :-) - Robert Scoble
begs the question, why not a dedicated camera instead? - rob zand
Rob: name a dedicated camera that can use the cell phone network to instantly upload photos. I have a Canon 5D too. It's nice, but I gotta hook that up to a computer, drag the photos off, then upload them. Hard to do when you don't have wifi or a cell phone connector. - Robert Scoble
so basically best of breed per use case. makes sense for what you do. 1 sim or 3? - rob zand
@RobertScoble get an Eyefi, it'll upload the pics as soon as you take them - Prolific Programmer
Scoble, Don't you have one of those EVDO Wireless Access Point Devices? You could always do Eyefi -> EVDO Wifi Access Point -> Flickr. Assuming those Access points can work on batteries. - Shawn Molnar from twhirl
Rob I have three sims. Shawn: that all doesn't fit in my pocket. - Robert Scoble
You could also make the N95 a moving access point using a free software package that's out there. While that solves the eyefi problem it doesn't solve the streaming video problem. Don't know if the eyefi also uploads video from a point and shoot camera? - Holger Eilhard
Having experimented with a couple of them yesterday, the Lenmar pocket charger I used on my Blackberry also had a tip for the iPhone and worked well. It's slightly thicker than a credit card but fits in your shirt or jeans pocket and gives 4 or 5 juices. - Sally Church from fftogo
I'm starting to wonder whether the battery gauge isn't calibrated all that well on a new iPhone and whether the battery life isn't somewhat longer than the gauge would lead you to believe. I've been trying to run my battery all the way down, and an hour ago my phone warned me that only ten percent battery capacity was remaining. I've been wifi-ing, location-ing, and youtube-ing like crazy since then, and it's still running. - Chris Johnson

"This article is idiotic. Author spells 'thrush' as 'trush' and sites one bird as 'Song Thrush' which is not an AOU recognized name. Also, Bicknells thrush was discovered over 100 years ago but was lumped in with other Catharus thrush species. It was split off into it's own species in 1995. Nice research." - Kevin Shea

any iPhone users planning to upgrade to an iPhone 3G? why? why not? just curious.
Nope. I already have a EV-DO 3G solution that's USB-based and good with all of my other devices. Since I always carry one PC/UMPC/Mac with me everywhere, it negates the need for 3G on my iPhone. I had an HSDPA card but found spotty coverage where I work and live, so I was on EDGE mostly. The extra $15 a month for the 3G and my SMS messages isn't all that appealing either under this scenario. - Kevin C. Tofel
Yes. Because the #1 thing I use my iPhone for is the Web and 3G will make that a lot faster. - Robert Scoble
I am waiting for a while. I just got my current iPhone in March, so I am not eager to fork out again for the faster model... - Rob McNair-Huff
Not a current iPhone owner, but 3G will make me one now (plus the addition of Exchange support which was the real killer for me) - Rob Neville from twhirl
very tempted, I find edge on current iphone unusable for anything, plus it blocks incoming phone calls when I'm using the data connection which is irritating as hell: 3g won't - Ian Fogg
No, because by the end of my plan next year v2 of 3g will be out. I plan on that. Speed hasn't been a big issue as I use wifi most of the time. - Andrew Leyden
Yes. 3G coverage here in Austin is great and near always-on high speed connection plus Safari = a very powerful combo I think ... - Patrick Jordan
3G less of an issue for me than Exchange. I actually get pretty good EDGE here but 3G will be nice.... - Michael Gartenberg
I'll switch iPhones if the processor is faster and if I can sell my current 8GB for about $200. - Kawika Holbrook
On the fence. I don't surf *that* much out of a WiFi hotspot, and the 2.0 firmware will make my current iPhone like a brand new phone. ;-) What I definitely don't want to do is upgrade, then watch them come out with a 32 GB model (with a faster processor, better camera, etc.) two months before Christmas. Once the iPhone has 32 GB, I can ditch the iPod. :-) But if there's a killer GPS app for the new iPhone (e.g. TomTom), that could push me off the fence :-) - Karim
No, I'm holding out hope that AT&T won't be the sole carrier sometime in the near future. - Vermyndax
Not upgrading hardware because AT&T forgotten to include the big city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama in their 3g rollout. - Chris Leckness
Nope. I already have 3G with my verizon CrackBerry Curve 8830. I have all my Google apps, FriendFeed, twitter, facebook, flickr, etc... right in my hand...love it! Plus, I have a very durable phone, 16GB storage, MP3 (replaced my Nano), removable battery, mini-SD, QWERTY keyboard which makes my FF and twitter updates super easy (i use http://fftogo.com for my FF mobile). Plus, I only pay $30 bucks for unlimited data and I *hate* AT&T as a provider. I also just found an app that ported over iTunes! - Susan Beebe
I woudl pick up an iPhoen in a heartbeat - if Apple put it on a real network (Verizon) and managed to hire an intern who can figure out how to write a copy / paste subroutine. I mean, seriously - how insulting is that? - Soulhuntre from twhirl
Still very undecided as while I like the + speed, I prefer the form of the iPhone 1.0. That + lack of plan information from Australian carriers *grr*... - mark.kemperman from Alert Thingy
I'll buy an iPhone when someone makes a keyboard for it. - Andrew Feinberg
I'm on T-Mobile and I don't want an iPhone enough to switch to AT&T. Besides, 3G isn't even an option where I live. - Jason Shultz
i would like to have official iPhone in india in CDMA... i believe it still not exists - Moksh Juneja from twhirl
I do plan to upgrade. GPS is the most appealing feature for me -- excited to see what kind of location-aware services come down the pipe. - Mitch Wagner
leaning towards not upgrading. Not so desperate for the need for speed. I will see what iPhone 2.0 does for my current phone and see from there. - Joel Ordesky
Depending on what Vodafone New Zealand offers, I am keen to pick up a 3G. I dont think i can use it for work though (uses lotus notes) so it will just be a toy. Hoping for some good GPS apps. - CJPhoto
No. I'm normally within wifi range when doing serious surfing, so 3G of minimal value. - Jim Hughes
Anyone know if Exchange support will be available on existing iPhones that have been upgraded to iPhone 2.0 software or will that only be available on iPhone 3G? - Mike Doeff
Where I live 3G is not available so I see no advantage to upgrading this time. - Chris Kuhner
@Mike Doeff: Exchange support will be on every iPhone w/ 2.0, 3G or not. - Wes Justice
There appears to be a "gotacha" with the Exchange support. According to this - http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng... - you need to be on the $45/month Enterprise Data Plan ($15 more than the consumer data plan) if you want access to "Corporate Email". Am I reading that correctly? - Mike Doeff
nope, it's a ripoff in my opinion. $200 + $15 more every month for what? 3G which probably is barely better than Edge, plus a new 2 year contract -- especially given that wifi is only going to become more ubiquitous in the next 3 years. It's also an insult to people who paid $600 a year ago for a phone. - Thomas Hawk
yes, i need 3g. dont care what it costs - sean percival
Not me, my employer only supports Blackberry and 3g coverage looks spotty outside major cities. So why pay more for less? - Bob Gannon
I plan to use the new iPhone as a media consumption device, whereas the n95 is my media creation device (video, images, etc). I'll have one in each pocket for a while... - Dean Terry
I'll buy it, but I buy most anything Apple. I've used the 1st gen iPhone for the last year and enjoyed the experience aside from having to deal with EDGE. - Kevin Shea
@Mike Doeff: That's what I originally thought, but from what I'm hearing, the non-Enterprise plans will support Exchange as well. - Wes Justice
Yes. Can't live without my iPhone. Was always going to upgrade cause V1 has made me so dependent on it that I realize I can't stand EDGE. Add to that the fact that I lost my iPhone in a cab last night, and using a dumbphone is like eating broken glass, well, yep - I'm gonna be there on launch day a-buyin'. - Steve Isaacs
Nope - I'll wait until v3 assuming it includes WiFi. I've been using other mobile dives with 3G/WiFi and a touch interface for >4 years so, apart from the VERY slick UI - I couldn't justify a change just yet - Rob Inskeep from twhirl
Wes, I hope that's the case. $45/month for an Enterprise Data Plan is pretty steep, especially if your company isn't picking up the tab. - Mike Doeff
totally agree with scoble. Web is most important feature for me with the iPhone. Especially with new apps that will be relying on pulling/ seending info to/from the web - Grant from fftogo
What, exactly, would be the point of paying $20 (iPhone) or $30 (iPhone 3G) for "unlimited data" only to be told later on that it's not really unlimited, you have to pay more if you want push email? Not even plausible. Fail. - Karim
I'll be upgrading, O2 Ireland is selling 16gb iPhone for e169 on the 65euro/month price plan. - Marie Boran
Definitely. Why? First, it's my job to be on top of it (unboxing, reviewing, etc.), second, I want 3G. I mean, seriously, EDGE is horrible. - Andru Edwards
I'll upgrade mine, but I doubt my wife will need to. I surf the web about 100x more than she does on it. - Sam Pullara
