Zee.

I find the new Posterous bookmarklet more suitable to my needs than the tumblr one. Posterous now a serious combination of a "regular" blog and a tumblelog. - Tom Landini
I like tumblr just a little bit better than posterous, but I can't put my finger on whyv - Karoli from BuddyFeed
I maintain content on both but have been quite enamoured with the email interface into the posterous blog. Sending content and quick notes from my iPhone has been a real boost to my output levels. The sparseness of the posterous site is tough after being able to work with the tumblr template but the other - Dave Ploch
I don't have a preference, though I do use both. I use tumblr a lot more but if/when the posterous feature set gets to critical mass I could envision switching. - Jim Hearts FF
@genieyclo, you don't find the one theme option for posterous frustrating? - Zee.
I like posterous' eMail intregration, and how it pushes to other services. I just wish you could add a little color to the site. The sparse white gets dull after a while. - Kerk
yeah but you don't really get that email integration then - Zee.
I have self hosted blogs, plenty of server space. However, I like posterous for the email facility, that I can also get it to reblog elsewhere. So I go for posterous. I have accounts with both. - Ian May
I JUST made a message on FF asking this same question, lol. Crazy. - Colby Olson
ha, no way...great minds :) - Zee.
Posterous, but then again, I'm biased. =) - Garry Tan
i was secretly hoping you'd stop by...do you reckon you'll be implementing themes/custom css in the near future? - Zee.
I like Posterous because I like to post more than one photo at a time :). Oh, and I can do it straight from iPhoto and Picasa - Sachin Agarwal
Tumblr! - Didier Lahely
Tumblr wins, hands down. They've got better VC backing, too. - Jonathan Brown
Why does tumblr win hands down Jonathan? - Zee.
I would love a mix of both, to be able to customize posterous a bit more. I've seen some really beautiful tumblrs. Im currently looking into which one offers the better bookmarklet. - Colby Olson
Tumblr - matiasjajaja
Im STILL torn. I like the feel of posterous's bookmarklet a little more, its a tad more flexible. Though tumblrs bookmarklet opens in a new window versus posterous's inline (in browser?) window. And tumblr makes it easier to tag/sort bookmarklet entries. - Colby Olson
I cant wait till posterous implements their upcoming API and theming/customizations options! I'm picking posterous on this battle. If only posterous was as pretty as tumblr! - Colby Olson
Posterous. - Outsanity
@Outsanity: Ok, but whhyyy? - Colby Olson
Posterous is more easier and pushing out new stuff. I have Tumblr but... It's boring to me. Plus, I can email my blogs to Posterous - Outsanity
Posterous -- because I can auto-post to everywhere, and I like posting by e-mail - Christopher Golda
I use both but ultimately I prefer Posterous and ended up having three blogs there. Love the email integration for posting and commenting as no other blog services do it this way, not even Twitter for direct messages or Facebook. Being able to link to other services like flickr and tumblr (rather ironically here) is a bonus. Built-in commenting is just common sense. Why Tumblr doesn't have it by default is puzzling. The fact that I don't have to worry about layout is neat. - Aulia Masna
Posterous—email-to-blog is sweet. - .LAG liked that
Tumblr. Larger community, more social. I do like Posterous and think the devs are great...but Tumblr's customization made it win for me. Plus, you can email with Tumblr too, and they have an iphone app and Mac desktop widget. The open API making for neat mashups like Tumbltape is rad too. The radar always has new and interesting stuff, while Posterous features the same 20 users over and over. I could see myself trying Posterous again when they get themes, but I Love Tumblr :) - Tami Baribeau
If I had to pick one of these 2 it would be Posterous, so easy to add things to it now but I use the 2 for different purposes. - Kol Tregaskes
I love Tumblr. - Larry Hudson
Posterous. Would have commented via mail if possible. - Konstantin Klein
I think Tumblr is much more customizable than Posterous and has a better API. - Sweyn Venderbush
Both are really good, but Tumblr is my choice. More customizing and awesome site UI. I don't use email so much, so that's why Posterous is not for me. - Kristian Salonen
I like Tumblr better. Posterous only allows email posting - TrafficBug
You can post via the web interface too to posterous, not just email - Nick
I went with tumblr, because it had more options than posterous. Posterous was more geared towards mobile posts while I was looking for something a little more meaty but not as meaty as a wordpress blog - BCK
Tumblr. I like reblogging and following other blogs. VERY EZ on Tumblr & gets better with each release imo. - siddman
can I just get some sort of super awesome plugin that lets me post to FriendFeed and WordPress simultaneously, yet not clutter up my blog homepage with non-article type posts? Who wants to code that up? - Nathan Chase
I love Tumblr!!! =) - dudtn
@Nick: yeah, I know. But main point that Posterous was popular is that email thing. - Kristian Salonen
Tumblr. Edit - I have used Tumblr for at least a year. Now I only have a few feeds on auto post. I tried Posterous and did not feel the love. - Russellreno
boy does it suck when people don't give reasons why - Zee.
Busted by Zee one more time. Ouch. See Edit above. - Russellreno
Lol, thanks for taking the time to edit Russell :) - Zee.
I will choose Posterous, because no matter how fancy Tumblr appears, I still find myself more active on Posterous. The fact that Posterous auto-posts everywhere (including to Tumblr) makes it better for providing value to my audience across services. Tumblr has a bigger community, but I don't need yet-another-community to support. Posterous supports my existing communities. Now that they have a bookmarklet...well....wow. - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
For me, I keep my accounts with both service, and planning to actively maintain in the future. Competition is good. It's for us users to enjoy new features, whichever introduces first... - Jorelle O. Tuvillo
Posterous. Tumblr has neat stuff, but they *should* given their age and team size. I'm investing my content in something smaller, but with a higher interest rate. They're doing more with less. - Jeff Vyduna
I'm just glad that both of these two services are pushing each other ONWARD... we as users can only benefit from the features that this will spawn. That said, Posterous forwarding feature is pretty well developed, and still missing from Tumblr. But Posterous needs to get skins/custom CSS ASAP, because people like to express themselves that way. Good 1st step on the bookmarklet, though it still needs WYSIWIG edit as well. - Alex Schleber
Posterous has the brightest future ahead: I'll stick with it for a while. - Jordi Soler
I have detailed here why I chose tumblr over posterous. I've detailed the advantages and disadvantages of both. Feel free to comment if you have something to say. http://deuts.blogspot.com/2009... - Jorelle O. Tuvillo
