The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you – we as a people will get there. - Kim

"Thanks for writing this up. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts about this. It would be great if they put some of the money into Torchwood - I didn't know they were going to have a truncated season and I really enjoy that show too. I wonder what Dylan Moran would think if he knew so many people thought he would make an awesome Doctor Who. Even if he wasn't interested, I'm sure he would be flattered." - Kim

"I used to post on a lot of different topics but it seems to have focused on WordPress, a little bit of Twitter and the odd article with personal information (my readers seem to like the personal stuff). So, my article ideas usually come from things I've been trying out on my test site or from questions that people ask me. Other ideas pop into my head all the time - I just have to be sure to write them down immediately or I won't remember them. I have over 70 drafts right now containing various things that I might want to write about. Even if I don't write them all on the weekend, I usually plan out what I'm posting that week in advance." - Kim

email is true, devastated hardly :) - Mike Fruchter
:) I don't think Qwitter is going to take off, so I wouldn't worry about it :) Oh, and .. install digsby! - Tim Hoeck
I'm intrigued by this. Why would you worry about who's unsubscribing enough to sign up to Qwitter in the first place? They either follow or don't. Maybe it's because I have few followers that I really would only care if someone I had had email or other exchanges unsubscribed and in that case, I would hope I'd know why they did it. Weird. - WorldofHiglet
@Tim, It's on the list! - Mike Fruchter
Don't feel bad Mike ... I'm up to 6 ??? BUT, the ratio of new people to 'quitters' is 9-1. Some people just have bad taste :) - Charlie Anzman
Would be nice if there was a Qwitter for Friendfeed. - Morton Fox
If I were you, I would hunt them down, make them give you 5 reasons why they unsubscribed. - Tim Hoeck
Now I know why I don't use Qwitter. Who follows you isn't important. Who you are following IS VERY IMPORTANT. Oh, by the way, I'm following you because you rock. So screw the losers who don't want to follow someone who rocks! - Robert Scoble
WorldofHiglet, personally it does not bother me. The " I'm devastated" was just being humorous. In all seriousness, I like the idea of unfollowing notifications. I wrote a post that touched on it a while back. http://michaelfruchter.com/blo... - Mike Fruchter
Got my first yesterday. I've been grieving all day. NOT. - Jack Carlson
LOL, Jack - Derrick
:) I didn't actually think you were devastated....just wondered why you would sign up for it at all. Needed a way to fill the old inbox? ;) - WorldofHiglet
Robert, that is why I follow you as well, ROCK ON :-) - Mike Fruchter

I'm trying out Qwitter simply because I value feedback, positive and negative. Feedback is part of the conversation of life. - Jack Carlson
Ian: ..well that would make more sense...! - WorldofHiglet
ok, Jack, but does it tell you why they quit? Because if not, I can't see the value. - WorldofHiglet
@Ian, wrong Qwitter. This is the one http://useqwitter.com - Mike Fruchter
It appears the site is down currently. - Mike Fruchter
Mike, don't worry, you have 200+ people who love following you, me included. heh - Daynah
@WorldofHiglet, no particular reason. I always need to try all the new toys out :) - Mike Fruchter
Now that's reason I can relate to! :) - WorldofHiglet
Daynah, likewise :-) - Mike Fruchter
Got it Mike. Yeah, I don't care how many followers I have per se. It's a new toy like you said. - Ian May
@WorldofHiglet - It tells you what you last tweet was before they unfollowed you. Sometimes it makes sense, other times it's a coincidence. I signed up for the humor. Someone unfollowed me after I said thank you to someone else. :-) - Kim
When I got mine I read my tweet a few times and realized, no, you will never please everyone at every tweet - Chris

"After reading this article today I did some research on permalink structure but did not come up with a definitive answer. I do use yoast.com for a lot of my WordPress information and in one of his SEO articles he recommended only using the post name. But I am not clear as to why it would be better - I should probably ask him. There is a plugin you can use if you do decide to change your permalink structure - I installed it when I changed mine and didn't have a single problem. This is the plugin http://urbangiraffe.com/plugin... and if you are interested in the yoast article it is http://yoast.com/articles/word..." - Kim

"Mike - Wow! You've covered it all. It actually seems exhausting to me :-) I agree with Mark that there are differing views on permalinks. I actually prefer to remove the date from mine and use only the post title. And I was really happy to see your mention of diigo. While I still prefer delicious, diigo does allow you to bookmark to all three sites like you mentioned. When I first started doing that it was more for bookmark insurance - if one site disappeared my bookmarks would still exist somewhere else. Only later did I think of the social aspect of it. I am, however, often hesitant to share my own stuff. You suggested sharing your own content in Google reader. Is that really an acceptable practice? On a side note, I am slowly trying to spend more time with friendfeed :-)" - Kim

Jesse - I was about to install Disqus, but as soon as I heard about the acquisition of intense debate, I've been holding tight. My guess is the integration will be available to self-hosted folks early next year (if not sooner). - Justin Korn
Justin yeah - I love Disqus, but if it's all built in and reduces load times, I may just be forced to use the Wordpress version. Not just that, but they can make their plugin architecture work around it, enabling things like Facebook Connect integration. - Jesse Stay via twhirl

Real Reporter Asks Real Questions—Obama Campaign Angry—Barbara West Interviews Joe Biden
Play
October 26 at 6:13 am - Link
Okay, can someone explain WTF this is? I swear to god, I thought it was a parody. - Cyndy
Poor Biden. How dare the media ask the 0Bama campaign about their socialist views. When 0bama is elected, this will not be allowed! - Spencer
Spencer, are you serious? At what point is calling a candidate a "MARXIST" journalism not of the tabloid variety? This isn't "asking tough questions," it's blatant incendiary yellow journalism at its finest. A COM/J 101 student asking these types of questions in a class assignment would be failed. - Cyndy
Hahaha... This ridiculous woman wanted to make an interview reel to send to Fox News. Reading questions off Rush Limbaugh's talking points is not journalism. - Jason Carreira
She made an association between 0bama's "spread the wealth" nonsense and the teachings of Marx. If Biden can't take the heat, then get out. That seems to be the underlying theme of the 0bama campaign. All Biden had to do was explain, but they choose to run. - Spencer
*chant* 9 days... only 9 days... 9 days... only 9 days... - Michael W. May
He treated it like the joke it is. The Republican party has become the butt of a joke they don't get. - Jason Carreira
Well, good to know that I can now head back to a career in traditional journalism. Silly me. I was always told that my inability to remain objective was a massive fail. Glad I now have career options where I can just call it "asking tough questions" by coming up with whatever *I* think and calling it journalism. I hear the WSJ calling my name. I'm sure they will be fine with me calling Jerry Yang an incompetent yutz. - Cyndy
Biden has been great out on the trail this season. Unflappable. - Chris Baskind
Remember, McCain said essentially the same thing re: spread the wealth in 2000. And the current administration has done a very good job in spreading the wealth from taxpayers to no-bid contractors and corporations. - AJ Kohn
Oh goodness, you know it's going to be garbage when she starts out with ACORN. Any good journalist has already figured out that a) there's nothing to the ACORN story and b) McCain has been linked to them as well. - AJ Kohn
Brokaw showed that tape to McCain this morning... McCain totally avoided answering and went on a tangent. - Jason Carreira
rofl, its funny how these reporters try and break them, when long ago they were broken into goodness/realness, this video is like all other biden/obama video's they simply explain the facts, its a shame a small percentage of the american public dont like facts, or its hard for them to understand, and that a small percentage dont like change and dont like to change themselves, in this hard world change is inevitable and if people dont start realizing the truth of things and changing they will all parish - Kyle Weller
There is plenty to the ACORN story. You should actually read and see how the media has been covering up many links between them and "the 0". - Spencer
kyle weller .. a small percentage? you are too kind .. substitute most for small - Gregory Lent
oh and this ACORN crap, come on now, how in the hell will "registering fake voters" do a thing? Havnt you seen the poor people in cities walk around and register voters, they are paid a few cents a peice of paper and believe me if they get a simple job like that they will take advantage and write fake names for some money without doing the work, also the federal government requires them to submit them if they are fake or not, btw how will register voters that dont exist bring them to the polls - Kyle Weller
Registering fake voters and people that actually wont vote isnt fraud comeon now, its common sense, they will need to submit a copy of their id to even register, and all those fake voters and voters that didnt register didnt submit their id's so what harm will come with this? Its just a talking point that doesnt make sense when you look into the facts of these things. - Kyle Weller
@ Gregory : lol yea, I try to have more faith in the american public lol - Kyle Weller
@Spencer if you still believe the ACORN stuff is anything but a red herring, maybe you should do your research. It's all a ploy to call the election into question. - Jason Carreira
word - Jason - Kyle Weller
Where can I find the official, approved list of questions to ask? I want to make sure I don't ask the wrong ones. - Glen Campbell
Make your questions come from an unbiased and objective point of view and you'll be fine. These questions were even fine... Biden looked great... the only loser here was her, 'cause she looks like a partisan hack and completely unprofessional. - Jason Carreira
Glen, if you can't figure out that referring to the pinko commie nation of SWEDEN as a threat is a problem, then I fear for you. ;) - Cyndy
@Kyle & @Jason: +1 each. That's the thing. It's OKAY to have links to ACORN because there is no real ACORN scandal. ACORN is the one who IDs fraudulent registrations, ACORN fires and helps prosecute those who submit bogus registrations, ACORN is the one who is paying for shoddy work, and it rarely ends up in voter fraud. The suppression of legitimate registrations is the 'real' voter fraud. - AJ Kohn
@AJ Kohn +10, If it wasnt for the internet allot of these stories would still be circulating with the facts hidden, this years election didnt change the world, the world changed the election and saw through these things, I think the future has great potential to be greater, plus Obama is setting an example for future presidents. I know he will do his best to understand, solve, elliminate the issues, I have great faith in our future and together we can all make the world a better place.. cont. - Kyle Weller
by taking care of our own lives and doing the best we each can possibly do. - Kyle Weller
It's funny because Biden couldn't even take the questions seriously. I don't blame him. I would have have busted up laughing in his position. - Ari Milner
I'm sorry, these aren't real questions. Comparing Obama to Marx? This is slanted biased questioning at its worst. This is worse than Fox! - Duncan Riley
Jason is exactly right. This does not hurt Biden one bit and, indeed, helps him because he looks thoughtful and rational even in the face of complete idiocy. Yet another nail in the McCain campaign. Landslide. It's coming. Can't you feel it? - Robert Scoble
@scoble I would love to start a rumour that Arizona has become a swing state. :P - Phillip Jeffrey
It doesn't say much for Biden when he claims they aren't "spreading the wealth", then spends time to detail how they are. Socialism, it's coming. - Spencer
Yes. If Obama wins, all of us will throw off our disguise and reveal that we are secretly trying to implement the evils of socialism in America. First, we'll take your money. Then we'll take your guns. And finally, we'll take your computers. Viva la revolution! - Cyndy
Spencer: all politicians spread wealth. It's what they do. The Republicans spread wealth to corporations and military. The Democrats love helping the poor. None of them want to really stop spending, as we found out over the last six years. So, give up the "socialism" thing. Bush nationalized the banks. The Republicans are the biggest socialists around. - Robert Scoble
Cyndy you forgot about raping and pillaging - Brian Sullivan
Cyndy: sssshhhhhhh, you don't want the Republicans to realize what we're up to, now, do you? :-) - Robert Scoble
Yeah, the Republicans took any punch from the "socialism" label with that goddamn bailout. - David Risley
Well, personally, Brian, I won't be raping. As a pinko commie bitch, I simply assume that in our new socialist society, everyone will spread the love as well as the wealth. - Cyndy
I don't think you understand the difference between tax breaks and giving "tax cuts" to people who don't pay taxes. I don't care about Bush, I care about the taxes and distribution of wealth that is possibly coming. - Spencer
people, we should not be having this debate. Obama is not a socialist. Period. - ♣genieyclo♣
But genie, Spencer has assured us that he is. And he will completely overthrow the existing government in favor of something akin to the terrorists of Sweden! - Cyndy
Spencer: do you make more than $250,000 a year? Really? What do you do? I wonder about all those who are complaining. The rich people I know are mostly going for Obama. I think you should have to post your tax returns if you're going to complain about the rich having to pay more taxes. Oh, and if you're making more than $250,000 a year how did you get that way? Didn't you benefit from a system and a society that enabled you to make that much? - Robert Scoble
Its not redistribution of wealth, its redistribution of income. Its you going to work for an 8 hour day, and maybe 1-2 hours of that time go to Obama to send to somebody else who may not even pay any taxes in the first place. - David Risley
@David: But we're talking about 3% right? 36% versus 39%. This doesn't really have anything to do with Obama but a dislike for progressive taxes, correct? - AJ Kohn
Registering fake voters isn't fraud; now that's spin - Robert Hafer
As happy as I was to see a reporter asking hard questions for once, the questions were crap. Why do so many Americans keep making socialism into a boogey-man? - Thomas Stromberg
@Robert: You do understand that ACORN is required to submit invalid registrations. That ACORN is the one who IDs the vast majority of these on submission. Finally, when someone steals from a department store, who gets hurt? The department store. Bogus registrations are a form of theft from ACORN. - AJ Kohn
AJ: If you think Obama is going to pay for his ideas with only a Bush tax cut rollback, you're hallucinating. - David Risley
AN Kohn - if the fraud was limited to a few isolated cases, I would agree with you. That, and all the other political action done by ACORN affiliates. - Robert Hafer
@David: No, the estate tax will go up, cap gains will go up. Loopholes will need to be closed, government efficiency must be implemented. And there's still a gap. Tough decisions will need to be made. It's not all going to happen. But McCain's trickle-down theory coupled with taxing medical benefits isn't the answer. - AJ Kohn
@Robert: It's a scaling issue. Which organization has registered the most voters? ACORN. The % is actually pretty low, it just seems big because of the scale. What political action are you referring to? - AJ Kohn
I'm talking about things like sueing banks to force to make bad morgage loans. If I was at by desktop instead of phone, I would look up other afiliates that fall under ACORN umbrella. - Robert Hafer
Obviously slanted and extreme in her opinion. Given she compared Obama to Marx, to be fair and balanced she would need to compare Palin to Hitler. - Mike Reynolds
Ha! That's rich--I'm sooo tired of finger-pointing like the kind Spencer is doing here. Sorry, I know this post is a few days old, but I felt it was worth jumping in on. Pointing fingers at politicians and accusing them of being politicians serves no purpose. Biden isn't going to answer some questions--big deal--Palin *in a debate* said she wouldn't be answering some questions. They're both lame, they're politicians!! Let's move on to something substantive, shall we? - thepete
