I deleted my Twitter about this, because I felt like I was ruining an inside joke, HA! Works on here too.
- Felicia
lol, I was about to retweet, but I won't then. =P ... Thanks for sharing though! Fun! (Edit: can't see anything here on FriendFeed... O.o)
- Dani Figueiredo
the one on friendfeed has a tab in it, up down up down left right left right tab enter.
- Felicia
All I got was a black banner. I fail. =P But thanks! =]

Let's not forget to follow this site's twitter account (at the bottom of the site list).

"The Volkswagen Microbus is a classic - even to those of us born after its time. Arguably unlike the newly remade Beetle, this remake of a VW classic is remarkably true to the original on the outside - but on the inside it is a bio-diesel hybrid stuffed full of high tech gadgetry and eco-friendly innovations."

Very intriguing. How much steel is in that thing? Chris, that would be my next question after fuel consumption: how safe is this thing? And I agree, when we can go back to making transportation that costs less than a small home, we may have achieved something amazing. ;)
- Melanie Reed
However, I have heard (and I'm not remembering where at the moment) that there has been a movement growing of people seeking alternative housing and substituting things like this as the new "mobile" home.
- Melanie Reed
Everyone is loving this! We should have an FF one and use it to travel to all the FFers around the World (like Pea seems to be doing ;-)). Hehe. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
I've owned 5 VWs, two of which were split window vans. I'd love to have another, this is awesome!
- Rick Bucich
from twhirl
I have had more VWs than other cars...starting with a 71 Superbeetle, and a Split Window Microbus. I would LOVE to have something like this.
- Kreg Steppe
Good for grandparents to visit grandchildren and children through the European continent (or another one as well)...nomadism-revival!
- Isabelle Ayel
wow i posted this a while back and now can't seem to find it for some reason. friendfeed's search function really sucks!
- Cee Bee
I'd like to have something like this, something small. What do you really need? A bed, perhaps a TV and room for your computer. Then you can live anywhere you like, in theory.
- Kol Tregaskes
Who is this Canadian designer Alexandre Verdier? Seems like he is on Facebook, Linked In but I can't seem to find anything else about him.
- Brian Sullivan
We had a wesvalia built Micro when I was a kid. I loved that thing. It was a little flimsily built; but boy it was perfect for my family of campers and road-tripping warriors. Too bad this one is so pricey
- Bill Rawlinson
Just commented on this post. Very well written and a lot of excellent points.
- Jim Connolly
I love the Diggbar, this is much too emotional and picky of an article.
- Mitch
i dont understand why people dont love diggbar
- Ahmet Soyata
seems very short sighted of digg to have gotten so greedy.
- Caleb Elston
Nicholas: Yeah, you are right, the business realities are forcing their hand a bit, but it is rarely a good idea to piss off your users.
- Caleb Elston
I just talked about the 150 or so marketers I unfollowed today and I received a personalized DM from one of them saying, "Thanks for the reminder! Weeding out are lists are important." Then they attached a get rich quick video. FML
- Ben Hanten
more then 90% of all emails are spam. Why would you want to protest against a new way to send you spam? Wouldn't it make more sense to figure out a way to filter Twitter spam
- arjo
arjo, because Twitter provides no easy way to do this, and they control the messaging. With e-mail, there is no one entity that controls it. Twitter has some responsibility here.
- Jesse Stay
I made a Twitter post with a screen shot as a show of solidarity, rather than to change my avatar.
- Mark Davidson
Why would RSS be worth more than FF/Twitter subscribers? The question is irrelevant for those of us that don't have blogs, of course.
- Jason Miller
Jason, read the article - RSS == more clicks, more response, and more value. Try getting the same response from your Twitter/FF followers - not as easy. RSS Subscribers are harder to get though.
- Jesse Stay
the points that describe the differences are overstated. the trend is in the other direction. Twitter builds on top of RSS, not in spite of it.
- Steve Gillmor
Jesse: Busted! I commented before clicking/reading, but the 'no blog' premonition of mine still holds. It seems to me that Twitter/FF exposure can lead to RSS subscribers. This is kinda like SGillmore's comment, above. Guess I'm using FF first, and a blog with an RSS feed may necessarily follow.
- Jason Miller
Jason, I think it goes both ways, but the blog is more effective. My blog has lead to more Twitter subscribers than Twitter has lead to me blog subscribers. The blog is still more effective, regardless.
- Jesse Stay
RSS, of course. Twitter followers are just temporary and old twits could not be found in home feed.
- Alp
Riding the wave and using the latest hot tool of the day is not the same thing as building community, nor is the same thing as building credibility. Blogs build community and credibility while the fast food Social Media Tools merely appeal to the ego of how many followers you may or may not have. At best Twitter might create curiosity and is a Instant Messaging replacement but so far it's become very annoying with the wall of noise. there I feel better now :)
- Owen Greaves
Owen, well said. You can still create community via Twitter/FriendFeed/Facebook/etc. but it's not at all as easy as a blog is to create community. The blog fosters community, because the users are coming to you, rather than you just being a 140 character figment of their "stream".
- Jesse Stay
Rob, agreed. I'm actually considering a branded micro-blogging community for my own blog, to foster community in an additional way the blog itself doesn't do. That way I still own the community.
- Jesse Stay
That would be better than twitter in a sense ;o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
Jesse, I think Twitter/FaceBook and the like could be community but they seem more like Traffic Cops, pointing you to whatever you might be looking for, in most cases Auto DM's are trying to suck you in.A Blog allows you to have controlled growth and deeper relationships if you choose to have them. It's also a more Professional way to interact, I'm not saying it can't be done on...

- Owen Greaves
Owen, perhaps Twitter, et al are "extensions" to your community then.
- Jesse Stay
Jesse: Yes, RSS is a connection to your Blog Community where Twitter, FaceBook and what have you are fast flowing rivers of people that you can direct based on there Opt-in interest to visit your / Mine Blog.
- Owen Greaves
I'd much rather have RSS subscribers.
- Kyle Judkins
I think my issue with Twitter and SM Tools like it is that it's somewhat shallow in thought, it's hard to have a deep conversation in 140 Characters. Friendfeed on the other hand is an amazing place, we can see this entire thread, have deep chats and actually accomplish something, I have a headache is not of interest to many unless your in the same room asking for a date.
- Owen Greaves
Owen, on 'creating community', I'm using FF to try to build a two-way community. Blogging isn't intrinsically two-way; microblogging on FF is intrinsically two-way. And I think we own our content on FF, don't we? Can one send out an RSS feed for a FF microblog?
- Jason Miller
Let me look at it the other way round: I'm checking my RSS reader(s) with diminishing frequency, interest, and reward. Still paying attention to tweets.
- Michael Markman
Jason: Personally I think Blogging is two-way, those who make sound comments on your Blog are the ones you want to create community with. Like FF I believe Blogs work off the same Opt-in premise. As far as owning content on FF I can't answer that question. RSS is good but losing it's luster I think, that's why I like FF for it's threading like mechanism and notification.
- Owen Greaves
Michael: As I mentioned, RSS is losing it's luster and tweets are another way to broadcast a new Blog Post just like subscribing to an RSS. The problem is the sheer noise you are inundated with on twitter, at least here on FF I can put you in a separate list by yourself and monitor all that you post. In Twitter Tweets are far too short to track and you can't bundle all your Tweets in...

Would love to know if this is true for other campaigners. The only successful link on my blog was a "what's behind door 3" type, where Twitter links are clicked up to 40-300 times with only 2500 followers. Twitter followers acted, blog visitors read. So I actually changed my blog to backtrack news content during the Iran protests. Anyone else?
- E-Advocate Network
E-Advocate: The metrics are there but the old adage, it's not the 1st sale it's the sales that follow that really matter from the same customer. You may get the click thru's and you may get some kind of conversion, I guess it depends what your goals are and why you are there in the 1st place. Twitter will die off and there will be a new Twitter like tool to come about so ride the wave while it lasts. Twitter is hot now, but will it be 5 years from now?
- Owen Greaves
Good point Owen and wise. I would have to hop on the next real-time tool. My goals are to send visitors to other sites to act on timely legislation or nonprofit donation drives- my true passion. Secondary passion is to show volunteers to run their own campaigns- my most popular blog page. Sales come in for tech design that was on a back blog page I never called attention to. Now it is reputation and I am contacted by DM on Twitter or called. Strange business model I think.
- E-Advocate Network
Oh- and all campaigning and PR work is free for NPO's and causes.
- E-Advocate Network
yikes! It's the Gray power button of death (GPBD)!
- Jim #TeamMonique
It was PhotoShop that killed it, Jesse. I hope I didn't lose the post I was writing, but my e-mail box is rebuilding and it is only through 6,569 messages out of 86,986 to do, with 1 hour and a half left to go.
- Louis Gray
Michael, that's the newest PhotoShop. It may have just been the most-recent thing, if not the cause.
- Louis Gray
And it's funny my photo is in the crash. That way you think I am constantly looking at my own picture. :)
- Louis Gray
Kurt, this just proves that my Mac crashes so infrequently, that when it does, I take a picture with my iPhone and share with you guys. :)
- Louis Gray
Had this once, too. What exactly is it...?
- Wolfgang Bremer
that's sucks indeed.. you got Time Machine on maybe, so it recovers a part of ur work? Good luck and it's always shocking to see Mac OSX go down like this.
- Jaap Willem
Mark: Engaging/sharing is on Friendfeed/Twitter intermittently throughout the day. One visit to Facebook per day on average, sometimes none. LinkedIn - zero engagement. Since I'm into freelance writing, I have started digging, stumbling, etc. which hardly takes any time. Most of the time, at present, I'm researching or writing.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
This is great. Can I use it, with credit to you, in my presentations?
- E.B.
E.B.: Did you read my post and click on the image? That takes you to the online mind map, from where you can click on any of the networks to connect with me on it. Yes, you can use it in your presentation as long as you attribute it to me! :)
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
This is great. Nice to see the insights of another person's flow.
- Mark Krynsky
Such a cool idea, this visualization. I'm going to give it a try myself, perhaps it will even be useful too, since right now I use at the very least 3 times the amount of services you do. Some consolidation might be in order, *grin*
- Morgaine LeFaye
I don't even want to know what my social map looks like.
- Kyle Judkins
Irma: I would love to see yours. I used Gliffy so I could quickly import logos and hyperlink labels to my profile pages in each service.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
Kyle: :) I started out that way, but privacy, security, and manageability finally made me do the deed.
- Mahendra (SkepticGeek)
Google could have waited until the value got close to what they originally bought AOL stake. Who knows ,AOL suddenly becomes cool? ;)
- Ashish
AOL and Yahoo both have this piecemeal feel where they do some neat stuff on the side and then point to it like a little kid and say "Hey Mom, Look, Look,.... Mom,... Mom..., Mommy Look". At which point we humor them just to get them to be quiet for some time. To regain their stature, they need to behave like a market leader and set the tone.
- Ryan Massie
wow, how cute! goe, one step at a time
- gerson garcia
my bro's lady friend is preggers, we're expecting any moment! Uncle SHawn! I don't get along with kids so I hope he (a boy yup) can adjust
- sofarsoShawn
Good luck with his adjustment, Shawn. :)
