Get rid of the word blog?!
You can't just demand that. You must replace the word with something more compelling. Which shouldn't be hard to do, right, because the word 'blog' is pretty tired. - Phil G
I agree with that. I was quoting a woman from the gnomedex live feed. - Kyle Lacy
Ah, gotcha. - Phil G
Sorry.. should have said that :) - Kyle Lacy
how do you say "your opinion on topics?" that's what blogs are... - Anthony Farrior
Absolutely Anthony. - Kyle Lacy
i just did. i like to call mine, (hyper)stream :) http://bit.ly/1GOD7s - ~C4Chaos
The only word I know of to replace "web log" would be "web journal", but when you shorten it a la blog, you get bjourn, which sounds like a Dutch guy. - Phil G
hahah +1000 to J.Phil - Kyle Lacy
@J Phil. LOL. reminds me of the father of C++ :) - ~C4Chaos
Here is something for you... I have no idea what C++ is - Kyle Lacy
sorry about being too geeky. here's the back story - http://bit.ly/4rcVMo - ~C4Chaos
I've been whining about the term "blog" fora couple of years. Apart from having a negative connotation among non-bloggers, it's getting pretty difficult to say what is and is not a blog. I hope some new descriptive terms become apparent. - Chris Baskind
Got any ideas on a new word Chris? - Kyle Lacy
I will probably be stealing the term "(hyper)stream".....that is all. - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
Rahsheen: good idea. I'm going to steal the term too - Kyle Lacy
@Kyle, Rahsheen, haha. Go ahead. Spread the word ;) - ~C4Chaos
@C4Chaos you probably should TM that shit. - Kyle Lacy
"Blog" does sound a little retarded, especially to non-geeks. It's a clunky word. Not good marketing at all :) - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
DaveWhineLog? :) - Fred Grott
Rahsheen: Half of my business is blog consulting. I agree with you 100% on not being able to market the name. I hate saying it. Kind of like panties... - Kyle Lacy
You will never get rid of the word now because it's used on TV and in newspapers. - Robert Scoble
Yeah and "blog" sounds even worse when it's used in combination with other common web terms. "Put it on the blog and the wiki so people can Google it, then tweet about it." - Nathan Rein
Robert: True. Very True but you can use a new form of the word to gain interest from non-bloggers who are looking to enter into the space. - Kyle Lacy
blogs are yesterday's news. So why invent a new term for an old tech? Focus on new tech instead :) - Vincent van Wylick
People have a hard time understanding words that have been used over and over and over again...I want to make it sticky. - Kyle Lacy
Vincent: Because there is still a space for old tech. I focus on new tech because I am a nerd. For my clients however, blogging is new tech. - Kyle Lacy
I would love that. It's such a bad term. What does it mean? - Eric Florenzano
HAH! "What I recommend is to create some Panties which will help to brand your company online, increase you accessibility to potential customers, and boost your online presence overall." - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
It is a coined term. Nobody really has any idea what the term means. I would ask Louis Gray, Robert Scoble, or Jesse Stay their idea of what the term blog means - Kyle Lacy
+1100 for Rhasheen - Kyle Lacy
lol Rahsheen. You mean like "assvertising?" http://gattacainc.typepad.com/my_webl... - Karim
