I was checking the propagation of this post in FriendFeed, then did a Google search on IFCU Anderson Indiana. Whether it's "right" or not that this experience is now the public perception of IFCU is an interesting issue. But I found it interesting that at the IFCU website at the http://www.independentfcu.org/ URL, much emphasis is given to the fact that a credit union is owned by its members. "A Credit Union is 'by the members, and for the members'." appears in bold print on the website. Does that mean that the credit union should be flexible in its hours to accommodate the members? I think so..

Wow, that's amazing that the top 3 results on Google for "IFCU Anderson Indiana" come back to this thread. This shows the true power of social media.

Granted that the results may be different a month or two months from now, but that illustrates the issue even further - a company needs to make sure that they provide superior customer service EVERY DAY. The stakes are high.

Thanks for the post Ontario. I wish I could get some search results on Independent Federal Credit Union :). The director of Member Services did give me a call and apologize.

After reading your follow-up post, I'm beginning to wonder - with so many services out there, is it possible for a person, or even a small company, or even a large company (such as the "Microsoft Escort Service" referenced in Silicon Alley Insider) to monitor its brand?
