"Good point... I guess I take it for granted that both churches I've attended in my adult life have given extensive disclosure of all their financial expenditures. If a church would be so sinister as to "hide" political contributions under "Missions Giving", then they're going to have a bit of explaining to do with the guy upstairs!" - Kyle Sellers

"I'm sure you would! And I'm also sure you would take your tithes elsewhere. It's something of a natural check and balance. As I type this, I'm actually starting to rethink my prior statement. Churches, charities and unions* are all opt-in groups. If you don't like the group you can stop supporting it. Attend a different church, work in a non-unionized shop (unless you are a state/federal employee), or stop donating to a charity. Basically, these groups can only pull this crap once, before you wise up. I think my problem is when organizations with any sort of taxpayer money use the monies for political campaigns. I think that is criminal. For the record, my church held a separate tithe for those who supported Prop 8, and reaffirmed that they would NEVER use any tithed money for political purposes. I'm actually quite proud of how this was handled by my church, especially when compared to the larger churches in town." - Kyle Sellers

"Regarding: "I won’t even address how offensive it is to have tax-exempt religious organizations inject money and resources into politics. Whatever their agenda, they are making an effort with a lot of tax-exempt money to shape the political landscape via out-of-state money and resources." I think we are in agreement here. Of course, I would also apply this to: Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, World Can't Wait Coalition, unions, Al Sharpton's National Action News, ACORN, etc... I criticize unions for taking their members money and donating it "on their behalf" and agree that this should apply to churches to. A better solution is for them to encourage their members to donate, and leave it up to them." - Kyle Sellers

"According to the Secret Service, the "Kill Him" allegations are unfounded. They've been unable to find anyone to corroborate the story. It kind of reminds me of the man holding the "Iron my shirt!" sign that ended up being a Hillary plant. http://www.timesleader.com/new......" - Kyle Sellers

"I have to say, I am upset by the Fed bailing out AIG. I disagree with it on principle. Hopefully, as soon as things settle down funding will come along and someone will by the 80% stake back from the government... thus bringing it back into the free market before another Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac situation develops. As bad as the AIG situation is, allowing it to remain (even partially) in the governments hands would be disastrous." - Kyle Sellers

"I think the point to take away here is that Lehman, most significantly, is paying the price of poor greed-driven decision making. They were an early backer of sub-prime loans and for a few years were doing quite well with these loans, but it was short sighted. In a free market, companies should be allowed to fail--and not be bailed out. These failures should be like a lighthouse on a rocky shore, warning other ships of the danger of risky decisions. It will also be a warning to investors, employees, etc. to better research the companies they invest in, work for, and do business with. I believe that the root of the problem was that many people got caught up in a bubble and their judgment was clouded by dollar signs. Let failing companies fail, and struggling companies fight through the tough times without gov't assistance. Hopefully, present troubles result in future caution." - Kyle Sellers

"Good point. I do believe that you are being especially harsh on McCain's faith. I believe he is sincere in his faith. I don't think that it should be framed as "don't for McCain because he is a terrible sinister man." I think he has organized his priorities differently than you would like, which is why you shouldn't vote for him. I believe that he is trying to serve the less fortunate by protecting them (with military strength) and preserving their ability to achieve success (reducing size of government and government interference). You have to at least admit that McCain acts on his beliefs. He does not put his finger in the wind and make decision based on popular opinion--I believe he does what he think is right. Because of this he has been heavily criticized by his own party--I voted against him in the primaries--but he did not change his positions because of this criticism. Whether or not you or I agree with his positions, I think you have to at least concede that it demonstrates..." - Kyle Sellers

"Definitely an interesting perspective. I can't say that I agree with the perspective, but you do make valid points as to why Evangelical Christians would be able to reconcile their world view with a liberal world view--which have traditionally been at odds. I do think you underestimate the importance of the abortion issue, though, to Evangelicals. Same with homosexual rights. While you are able to reconcile these issues, I don't believe that you are necessarily the typical Evangelical. It will be interesting to see where Evangelicals line up when all is said and done." - Kyle Sellers

"They definitely will serve different purposes. GiantBomb won't replace traditional game review sites for me, but it is still an awesome (and fun) resource. MetaCritic has replaced GameSpot for me, but GameSpot brought it on themselves. For instance, they haven't posted a single review in over 8 days... That's just lazy." - Kyle Sellers

"What energy policy? Our energy policy for the last 30 years has been to stick our fingers in our ears and say "Lalalalala." And then, when things get tough, we go tell everyone else to increase their production, but refuse to increase our own because our land is prettier (essentially). It'll take 10 years to pull a drop of oil out of the tundra? That's because of all the bureaucratic red tape and environmentalists hoops that must be jumped through." - Kyle Sellers

"I'm glad about this, and I own Rock Band 1. I hate having to swap back and forth between Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith depending on the songs I want to play. If I could consolidate all of them and only need 1 disc, that is a good thing, and that seems to be what Rock Band is trying to do." - Kyle Sellers

"This image is horribly misleading, as it tries to portray things as "getting worse," when according to the very same graph, it is "getting better." It states that the average CEO pay is now 350 times the average worker, and is "up from 122 times in 1990" and ignores that it had gone up to 700 times the average worker in 2000 when Clinton left office. Personally, I don't think this is damaging to either Bush or Clinton, but it is dishonest to interpret this as a "rising trend" when this particular data shows that the peak has passed and that there is now a steady decline." - Kyle Sellers
