Read a review from Publishers Weekly on Amazon. This book sounds fascinating!
- Véronique
I put it on reserve at the library. Fourth in line.
- Véronique
It's an amazing book--sad and scary and intensely interesting. I think I found it listed as a "similar item" when I was looking at something completely different (which, of course, I've now forgotten).

I didn't even know this woman, but I'm crying. So sad when someone is taken away too soon. So wonderful that she had such spirit right to the end.

Should everyone reclaim pejoratives aimed at that? How does that help? I'm happy to reclaim queer in a positive way, but how can bitch or ho or bimbo be positive? How do we really reclaim these words? What does that mean?
- Véronique
Some of those words are descriptive (e.g., prostitute) and some aren't really pejorative (e.g., femme fatale). Just sayin'. Interesting exercise though. Hope you enjoyed!

I think the link adjusted itself, oddly enough. I couldn't figure out what was wrong! And the pejorative ones, I meant to cut those out, but I got lazy. Let's just imagine that they're all female-oriented and need to be stomped on purely for being so gender fucked. : )

I added Gtalk to my FriendFeed list, and I'm pretty sure I said "yes" to what I was supposed to, but for some reason it doesn't work. Any ideas?
- Véronique
My Gtalk status seems to be feeding now. Who can 'splain?

I know I blog a lot less since I joined Twitter, but I still read just as much--and certainly have a preference for article-length blog posts over a few short microblog ones.
- L.J. Leng
I blog (for specific reasons), I microblog (for no particular reason), and I read the blogs and microblogs of others. Way too much time! But I still love it. If anyone reads, great. If not, no worries.
- Véronique
I don't need microblog short, but I do find that I have to force myself to read long articles on my computer screen. I just don't like it, even though I still read articles and even books on paper.
- Véronique
Oh, I definitely prefer paper- over screen-reading. Microblogs are more like bits of IRC text to me, with a tad more permanency. I personally don't see any need to even archive them.
- L.J. Leng
Véronique's pet peeve: microblog bits feeding into regular blogs. Hey, if you're going to have a blog, write something real for it!
- Véronique
Ugh, I know! It's all good to post a Twitter Wrap (or whatever those are called) but not as the bulk of your posts.

The sangha describes itself as "a peer-led community of freaks, geeks, queers, rebels, outcasts, stream-enterers and their friends, who meditate together in the Buddhist tradition." Sounds like our kind of meditation group!
