Want to see the King Tut exhibit at the de Young but haven't yet? I am going on Saturday at 10:30 (my second time!). Let me know if you would like to join me. I have a promo code for 20% off.
I was also sent a text intended for someone else today. I don't think the incidents are related (although the mis-text was from a Portland number (I still have a Portland number) and the e-mails are for someone who lives in Portland.

I get this sort of stuff all the time -- many different Eric Stephens and Edna Stephens and so on in the world screw up and use my address. I still dutifully write back to tell them that I don't care their flight leaves at 6 or that they think I should call their cousin Brenda.

I own the "staylor" gmail account but don't use it (Taylor is my maiden name). I get forgetten password emails for that account all the time. You forgot your own frickin' email address, not the password to my email, dumbass.

That is pretty much what he says, but he includes that you should practice it at other times of day until your body does it automatically so there is no room to talk yourself out of it.

I did that today! I was so proud of myself. I told myself that my friend (who kept me up late last night) got up a half hour before me, so if she could do it, then I could too.

I haven't been setting an alarm because I tend to wake up consistently. I also tend to go back to sleep consistently =(. I should probably listen to my body telling me it is time to get up.

My plan is to start getting up when I wake up at 7 am. And if that doesn't work, there is always Clocky: http://www.clocky.net/

These short stories were a good followup to the two Sedaris books I just read. Most of them focused on one person. There was a nice variety of writing styles (including two comics). I was puzzled by Nick Hornby's entry, which was comprised of blurbs about (several?) people with variants of the same name. My favorites were "Magda Mandela" by Hari Kunzru and "Nigora" by Adam Thirlwell.

Sedaris is either lambasting himself or members of his family in the essays in this book. His wry prose is at times poignant and at times ridiculous but is invariably entertaining.

The stories all had similar over-the-top personalities that made me smirk. The main essay is the SantaLand Diaries, which tells of Sedaris' experiences as a holiday elf at Macy's including taking photos of kids (and adults) on Santas' laps.

This was cute. All of the stories had twists. Not as good as Derek Kirk Kim or Gene Luen Yang's graphic novels (Same Difference & Other Stories and American Born Chinese respectively).

I really enjoyed this negative utopia. One of the most notable parts of this book are the animal hybrids — pigoons (used to harvest organs), rakunks (pets), wolvogs (were created to hunt the snats).
