This is clearly not my cat. If this was my cat he's have one arm shoved down into the printer trying to tear up all the internal whirling bits with his bare claws.
- Soup
Too Funny! Reminds me of the San Mateo Cat Shelter where one of the cats loves to sleep on top of the laster printer where the paper comes out...

1600+ to beat the FFundercats live chat thread. I think with this real time now on all threads we're going to see some truly epic comment numbers.

Ivan, no the picture speaks for itself. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Petr, I have no idea what you mean, but thank you. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol .. :] that, partially, might have been the purpose.... I don't know it exactly either. :] .. was I reflecting on a cat under the fax, and that it is hard to fax that way ... /?:] ... "underfaxing at its worst" ..
- Petr Buben
there ya have me ! :] .... see, to be honest with you, i saw this pic couple days ago, but i let it go, without posting it ..... what does that make me? :]
- Petr Buben
even a flat cat... faxes just can't handle the hair. You'd have to shave the cat first, else the hair will burn and stick to the drum... a mess! (I am extrapolating from transparencies, mind, i don't have access to a cat to test)
- Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)
Hehe, Joelle. This is now tied for the 'likes' top stop. One more then, hehe. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Hehe, Greg. Blimey! Erm, is that not far from 500 likes now? ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Bloody marvelous, Kol. Wish I could like it again... too cute (and help u to 500 likes).
- Roberto Bonini
I couldn't believe it when I logged on from the morning over posting it and saw it was at something 200 likes! You all have a strange fetish with cats and fax machines, hehe. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Am I the only one who saw this and their first thought was - My goodness did someone break that cats neck? It still freaks me out a little
- Steve C
Steve, it does look a little out of place, but cats are pretty bendy. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
They fax much better if you flatten them first. What?

So we can put this post to rest now. :-) 505 likes final count, wow! :-D Good night all!

"Maybe Tony Soprano was onto something. As the lead mobster in the HBO series “The Sopranos,” he and his crew often turned to prepaid cellphones, presumably to avoid wiretaps. But now these pay-as-you-go phones are winning over fans for different reasons — recession-battered consumers are buying them as a way to cut costs and avoid the lengthy contracts and occasional billing surprises that come with traditional cellphone plans. “Frugal is the new chic,” said Joy Miller, 33, a piano teacher in Aubrey, Tex. After almost a decade on contract plans with Verizon Wireless, Mrs. Miller and her husband decided this month to test-drive a few prepaid plans, including MetroPCS. “In today’s economy, it’s not cool to pay $120 a month for a phone. It’s a waste of money.” "

So it's since Tuesday huh? The ultimate thread. How will the thread die then? We must have a limit for that, let's say 24h without one comment.
- ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
As a side note, I do have to applaud the endurance and pettiness of those of us on FriendFeed. No one on Facebook gave this status update a second look!

We pride ourselves in our pettiness and obsessiveness. Um, wait.

Remember. It's not whole Scoble likes. It's who likes Scoble.
- Akiva Moskovitz
According to FriendFeed, that's everyone. And some Twitter marketers and SEO experts.
- Mike Nayyar
Mike will get in the last word. Eventually. Everyone else is an idiot for playing his little game. Me included. :-)
- Robert Scoble
I'm not actually playing. Or, if I am, I'm playing to lose.
- Akiva Moskovitz
HAHA! You see that? Robert Scoble acknowledges I will eventually win! HAHA! FINALLY! For once in my life, I win! :) :) :) :) Unless Logical shows up...

Only mostly dead. There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there's usually only one thing you can do.

We're testing the limit on the number of comments.
- DGentry
Nah, the FFundercats live chat pushed that one way over the top. We are, however, testing the limits oh how sick people are getting of setting my face.
- Mike Nayyar
This thread has a lot of comments, that must mean Mike is an expert of some kind...or maybe an A-Lister. Must stalk^H^H^H^H^Hinvestigate him...
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Wow losts of comments...shame this is the last comment though.

Olympus too? Good thing Logical doesn't know any Japanese mythological figures.

All right, if you're going to play that way, Raijin AND Ajisukitakahikone are BOTH mad at you. And Raijin was especially unhappy because you interrupted his NOMmage of children's bellybuttons.

Dude, my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Raijin put down the platter.

We'd be content, of course, if you (Mike) issued a public retraction of the assertion in your post, followed by allowing someone else to post the last comment in the thread ;-)
- LogEx
LE: Someone is going to go "last" again and it will continue ;)
- Nicholas James
Logical made it into a competition and now alot of people want to hold the title as the last comment on this thread. It will eventually stop when people give up and/or another one is made ;)
- Nicholas James
Gordon: No-one is going to give up. Well about 85% of the people on here already have...its just time to wait for the remaining people to give up and let me post "LAST"

Someone will eventually win this. However, since everyone else will have clicked "Hide" by then, they won't be able to tell anyone about it.

You know at some point, expanding this comment will really put a strain on mortal browsers. It already has a 3 second pause to expand it.

I wonder if at some point we will hit a soft limit and FF won't let it keep going. That or they look at this as a great high-bounds test case for the system.

"Michael Van Gorkom was laid off by Yahoo in late April. He didn't panic. He didn't rush off to a therapist. Instead, the 33-year-old Santa Monica resident discovered that being jobless "kind of settled nicely." Week one: "I thought, 'OK . . . I need to send out resumes, send some e-mails, need to do networking." Week two: "A little less." Every week since: "I'm going to go to the beach and enjoy some margaritas." What most people would call unemployment, Van Gorkom embraced as "funemployment.""
- RAPatton
"While millions of Americans struggle to find work as they face foreclosures and bankruptcy, others have found a silver lining in the economic meltdown. - Michael W. May
being laid-off can be liberating. it can also be rewarding if you plan your finances properly (because, the well does dry up eventually). my "funemployment" helped me find the career I really wanted. if I went the traditional route or panicked and grabbed the first opportunity I received, I'd probably be doing something sucky.
- jbrotherlove
Abby, the article talks about unemployed single 20 and 30 somethings in particular
- RAPatton
Uh, this is me right now. Is that bad?
- Shawna Benson
agreed. I'm not in my 20's or 30's, but I am single and that makes a big difference. I'm only responsible for myself.
- jbrotherlove
Shawna, why would it be bad if you having a good time and can afford it? How many times in your life will have an extended period of not working to enjoy. You are unemployed either way, so you might as well have a good time

Trust the cancer survivor, life is way tooooooo short. If you can afford it, and this is your situation enjoy every minute of it. in fact, even if this isn't your situ, you should be enjoying yourself as much as possible.

Fortunately it's still under warranty and I kept my receipt. Submitted online service request and waiting for shipping/packaging instructions. Really pissed though. I've never played any games on it, installed Linux in the 1st week, haven't booted into Linux since probably October 2008. Point is: there's been no load on the HDD to justify it dying so early.
- LANjackal
In other news, my Xbox 360 is still going strong. Superior PS3 build quality my ass.
- LANjackal
I think it's pot luck as to which is better quality. Still prefer PS3. Curious: why do you have it if you don't play games on it?
- Amy
Blu-Ray playback. It's still the reference player for most review sites out there and the fact that it's a Sony player and gets frequent firmware updates means it's pretty much future-proof for that. Also as a DNLA device it's a LOT better than the 360 (the 360 is a better Media Extender though). The 360 has the games I want to play at a lower price and with a better controller (I have big hands, which makes the tiny Dual Shock a PITA to use).
- LANjackal
Mine is 2 years old and the Ethernet port is shot. I like the console but it's not quite as well made as I thought
- Rod Middleton
@Rod: Sorry to hear that man. AFAIK the port/NIC's prolly part of the system board, so you'd need a brand new PS3. I just got the instructional email for warranty returns from Sony, now waiting for the prepaid shipping box to arrive :/
- LANjackal
@LANjackal Ahh, fair point - the updates does make it stand out from other Blu Ray players.
- Amy
I have to wonder why sony have not done some form of media distribution deal with a third party such as netflix. Given the lack of blu ray uptake you think that it would make some kind of sense. Particularly as they have a serious foothold on the content provider side.
- Rod Middleton
@g5maniac: That's the problem that's been killing Sony over the past decade - being a content producer/owner + being in the hardware business are 2 incompatible things. The PS3 actually has its own movie download library in the Playstation Store, but nearly no one knows about it
- LANjackal
from IM
In other news on my incredible (lack of) luck of late, Netflix just shipped me a Blu-Ray. Which I can't play, so now I'll have a useless disc at home or have to return it and then re-queue it later. FML :/
- LANjackal
@Guilherme: Yah I'd try not to touch it if I were you, lest the HDD decide to go on permanent vacation. I'm so mad @ Sony
- LANjackal
You just got the short end of the stick. The PS3 still has a much better MTF then the 360. Ever hear of the red ring of death? :-)
- Noah White
@Noah: I have a 360 also, and it's doing just fine :)
- LANjackal
Well, prepaid shipping box arrives on July 1, hopefully it's a quick turnaround from there.
- LANjackal
My mate had a 2nd hand 60gb version (hard to come by in UK) and the disk drive decided to stop reading but they'd collected it, fixed it and returned it to him in a shockingly short time. I'm sure it'll be fine from there.
- Amy
PS3 return box just arrived (a lot earlier in the day than I expected it to). Packing it up to ship it off via UPS later today :)
- LANjackal
PS3 dropped off at UPS earlier, now en route to service center in Laredo, TX where it will be gutted for parts and shipped back as an empty shell (I hope not)
- LANjackal
Wasn't the PS3 dead on arrival?? jk... i cant believe your xbox survived without crapping out
- Cassidy
No it wasn't, HDD FAIL after 10 mths, that would explain the OP ^^^^ (!!!) lol
- LANjackal
Oh wait I get what you mean, yes, it'll be DOA when it gets to the service center. But Laredo, TX is one of the poorest places in the country and right next to the Mexican border. Not a bad place to run an electronics chop shop. Figures that Sony warns in honking BIG letters not to send anything but the console because it might not be returned, lol.
- LANjackal
360 is a better gaming experience but a significantly lower build quality. There are a million things you can shit on Sony for but building a pos isn't one of them with regards to the PS3.
- Geoff Schultz
@Geoff: My 360 hasn't RRODed yet, still going strong
- LANjackal
@Richard: As much as I love HD discs, the poor uptake of Blu-Ray among consumers is well documented
- LANjackal
Well documented by who? It as not been a "poor uptake." By any stretch.
- Richard Lawler
What, wait, you're sending it in for a new hdd??? Do you have any idea how easy it is to replace the hdd yourself? It's intended - Sony WANTS people to replace/upgrade their hdds. For those who don't know: http://www.cnet.com.au/how-to-...
- Will Higgins™
I got my PS3 off eBay used almost 2 years ago and it's SOLID. And if the only issue with your PS3 is the hdd, it's not even really the PS3's fault, it's the hdd's. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the failure rate on PS3 hardware is less then the failure rate of standard hdd's. It'd be like blaming Apple or Dell if the hdd in your laptop/desktop died. I think the PS3's use Seagates, so go complain about them.
- Will Higgins™
@Will: 1 word for you: Warranty. The PS3's still covered, so by sending it in I get the problem fixed at no cost to me. Also my unit had Fujitsu 80GB HDD, not Seagate. Go figure.
- LANjackal
from IM
I love a good warranty claim. I've only ever heard of one other person whose PS3 died (YellowROD), out of warranty it's $330 to service. Might as well buy a new one. But yea, lots of people don't realize how easy it is to upgrade the hdd. It's a really nice design feature imo.
- Will Higgins™
@Will Yeah thanks for the advice tho, I def would've replaced it myself if it wasn't under warranty
- LANjackal
from IM
PS3 delivered to service center in Laredo, TX on July 6 @10:14. We'll see how long this turnaround takes ...
- LANjackal
HOLY S*, how's this for a quick turnaround: PS3 delivered to service center yesterday, unit (dunno if it's the same one or a different one) shipped today. That is the FASTEST electronics service turnaround I've ever experienced. And all for free :). I guess the high $400 price tag went somewhere
- LANjackal
UPS just delivered PS3. Time from failure to return: 8 business days. Not bad, Sony. Not bad at all :)
- LANjackal
Update: It's definitely NOT the same unit I sent in. Same model though.

Akiva, I'll definitely check that one out. This one comes with both a 3D and 2D version, along with a normal DVD and Digital copy I can download on any of my computers or my iPhone. This is what convinced me to finally get a blue-ray player. The player has BD-Live so we can also download additional content (along with Netflix and Youtube content)

Right on. Do you need some kind of special glasses for the 3D version? I haven't seen any of these new 3D movies yet.

Akiva, it came with 4 3D glasses in the DVD case.

Wow. Putting Coraline on my Amazon wishlist then. Somehow I doubt that Audrey would wear the glasses for long, though.

Coraline seems like a demented version of Alice in Wonderland. The similarities are evident. Great movie so far though, and great for the whole family (maybe a little scary for younger kids).

and, just so we're clear, this is a bad thing, yes? ;-) To really make it my space we'd need smileys and a lot more glittery animated gifs. Who's gonna get on that? I need to know so I can pre-emptively block 'em. Doh!
