Is last.fm down, or am I just having a problem on my end?
Working fine for me. I'm currently listening to music on the site. - James Ferguson
If it is, it is clearly Brandon's fault! :) - RAPatton
Actually, I'll blame it on IE6, which seems to be a popular scapegoat. - Ontario Emperor
Finally got through, and was directed to a new (for me) page http://www.last.fm/home - Ontario Emperor
Explanation of new interface - http://blog.last.fm/2008... - I'm still trying to figure out the philosophical difference between a "playlist" and a "library." - Ontario Emperor
Still having connection issues. Argh. http://mrontemp.blogspot.com/2008... - Ontario Emperor
Woah. It just sort of stopped working for me. I must have been using it while they performed the "upgrade" to the site. After a minor hiccup, I'm back to listening to music. - James Ferguson
Still having problems, even with IE7. http://mrontemp.blogspot.com/2008... I should note that I'm not using the last.fm software, preferring to use the web player instead. (I don't want to load one more software program on my computers if I don't have to.) Is everyone else in the room using the last.fm software? - Ontario Emperor
I normally play my own library via foobar2000 or through the last.fm desktop software, both of which is fine. Trying the flash player now and am not having any issues in FF3. I do have the latest flash; dunno if that could be your issue at work or not (doubtful at home). It does seem you must be logged in to use the flash player, though. Opera is crapping out with the "Opps" without being logged in, works when logged in. That seems key: Log in. - Michael W. May
I'm logged in, for what it's worth. - Ontario Emperor
Yeah, figured you were :| - Michael W. May
I went in a few minutes ago; aside from a definite shortening of some of the tracks I "loved" previously, I had no issues. - Helen Sventitsky
Upgraded Flash to 9,0,124,0. Got an "Oops!" the first time I tried to play something on my page, then it worked the next time. Turns out the item that I clicked was my playlist, which it started to play in order (and if there was only a 30 second sample, it would just play that). I just selected a specific full track which is playing fine. Will try to play my library next, if I can find it. - Ontario Emperor
Also, double check your settings (drop down, upper right) and ensure things are set to play only in the flash player, since you don't have app running. - Michael W. May
"Play music in-page" is checked, but good suggestion. - Ontario Emperor
last.fm is having a major "revolt" over new version- http://friendfeed.com/nicefis... - also added a blog with a little more information- http://www.nicefishfilms.com/blog... - michael sean wright
Some of this is to be expected - even if you brought out a bug-free new version that retained all of the features of the old version, someone would get mad at the color scheme. But I still can't play my library, and I just found out what happened to the 100+ items that fell off my playlist - as of now, playlists have a max of 200 items. At least I (in the US) have Pandora access... - Ontario Emperor
Most people are uncomfortable with change. - Jason Toney
I've admitted defeat. Just downloaded the last.fm software to my home computer and reset my defaults to play music via the last.fm software. This, of course, means that I need to put the software on my work computer tomorrow morning. So far so good. - Ontario Emperor
My Sunday night blog post on the topic (third in the series): http://mrontemp.blogspot.com/2008... - Ontario Emperor
Last.fm software working on work computer as standalone. Haven't tried to launch it from IE6 yet, but hopefully it won't be an issue. (PS: Doot doot.) - Ontario Emperor
*crossesfingers* I'm guessing all is well? - Michael W. May
LastFM is flaky today. - Russellreno
