Just got on the plane-- we're on our way to Lake Tahoe!!!
I wish every day of the year was this beautiful! Nothing like blue skies and orange leaves! http://www.flickr.com/photos...
Oh my librarian friends, I have way too much fun playing with #LibGuides. Am I the only addict?
Hello librarian friends. Is the word "promptuary" dead? Has it been completely replaced by its Google synonym? Or can we use it still? I'm starting to wonder if we need to compile a dying/dead library-word list.
I don't recall ever having heard or seen the word before now, and had to look it up. - Your Neighbor Steve
Never heard/read it either. The definition is easily provided via Google but ODLIS has no idea what it is. http://lu.com/odlis/ - Mar₭ Liŋdŋer
My welcome to UST: Thanks for joining our library! Now watch as we cut your library in half and take away your collection, computer labs, and study rooms.... hmmmmm... Merry Christmas? We're just a little outraged: http://www.stthomas.edu/bulleti...
like not as in like, but as in, how awful - Christina Pikas

UNLIKE. - laura x
Ugh. Was curious about the location - they say the library is going to be on the second floor, and that the second floor is most accessible. Is the 2nd floor street level? - Rachel Walden
Bah. - Marianne
We're in downtown Minneapolis, which has a large system of "skyways" connecting buildings on the second floor - including all of our academic buildings (great for inclement weather). About 2/3 of our library is on the first floor right now, and they want us to move into just our 2nd floor space - along with an extra break room from another dept or something. - Laurelaura
Bah humbug - barbara fister from iPhone
Yikes. - Rachel Walden

Got to try a tofurky yesterday... think I'll continue to stick with the real thing, but not bad!
Yay! I'm going to #ACRL2011!
Excellent. Look forward to seeing you there. Let me know if you have any Philadelphia questions. - steven bell
Just got asked if I want an ereader for Christmas and if so, what kind! Decisions, decisions.... :o)
If it is important to you, make sure whichever one you get works with your public library e-book collection service. - ♫410 I Coach 'em Up♫
Check your library's Overdrive selection to see if there is enough content for your prime consideration to be an overdrive-compatible device. Get your hands on what you're interested in and ask for demos or to play. Kindle is easiest to use, but privacy issues are a concern and amazon will not play nice w/libraries. NookColor much improved navigation, but magazines are not a selling point (small selection and the screen is too small for a satisfying experience). - rochelle rochelle from fftogo
Kindle is not supported by Overdrive. Basically, everything else. - Andy
Yeah - I'm thinking a Nook at this point. I don't need the color, but if the interface is better, perhaps I will make that my choice. Has anyone played much with a Sony? - Laurelaura
I have not played with newest gen Sony, but really did not like previous gen Sony. A lot of people do, because it sells slightly better than the nook, but I found it boggy, and the display kind of muddy. - rochelle rochelle
Symptoms of a new job that make me laugh #782: when requesting a user account for a specialized database that we have, I get an email saying that my request has been sent to our institution's representative, who is listed as the person whom I've replaced. Hmmm...guess I'll be having to make a phone call!
Favorite thing of this month: my niece's "future librarian" onesie! 'twasn't even bought by me -- it was found by my sis-in-law! (Sorry to those of you who have already seen this, but it keeps making me smile and I must share.) http://www.flickr.com/photos...

Awwww. Don't tell her there will be a huge vacuum and lots of jobs as soon as us old folk retire, though. - barbara fister
Hehe... I'll try not to. I'll stick to reading Goodnight Moon to her for now... suck her in gently! - Laurelaura

I love the fall, but miss summertime evenings -- It's sad to have it getting dark already!
Just had a great lunch with @minihays. Gotta love having friends who also work downtown! Any other takers want to have lunch sometime?
I keep forgetting to order @GuthrieTheater Season tix this year... how'd it get to be October already? No Guthrie = Sad. Ordering now!
