"As for his thoughts on Roger Federer's recent loss to Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final — an outcome that prevented Federer from matching Sampras' Grand Slam titles record — Sampras said, "If I were Roger, I would try to come in a little bit more, especially on my serve. I'm sure he's frustrated. He's playing fine. Rafa's just an animal. The guy can play all day, play at a high level for hours. "I felt for (Roger). He's frustrated and he wants it so bad. To be at that breaking point, it's affecting him a lot more than I thought.""

He still didn't look as explosive as he used to be, but he appears healthy. CP3 and Deron were the impressive ones. We still had trouble defending the pick and roll.

Just finally got around to watching the game last night. Wade looks more than healthy given the state of the competition. To me, his windmill dunk was only half as impressive as the steal that preceded it.

what is more than healthy? Look at that dunk and look at any of his highlights during their championship run, he's still not the same player.

This was a watered down Canada team. Wade wasn't really tested on defense the entire night and he still had only some of the explosion that he had two years ago. We'll know when they play Spain or Greece.

I think the Raptors were on their way up anyway, though I'm not nuts about trading a young and great point guard for an aging forward... But don't just lock the Raptors into the No. 2..... Magic and Sixers are looking poised for big things as well.
- Chris Reed
Ford does not have the same upside he used to. His neck condition could end his career any day now and he is undersized (defensive liability). When you have Jose Calderon and how we'll he's played, I think it's a great idea to trade Ford who wouldn't be happy playing backup anyway. Great trade for the Raps.

Maybe. O'Neal hasn't been too great for the last few years- and who's going to be the main point guard now? Calderon? Hmm... I like him but we'll see.
- Brian Carter
Calderon had the best (if not, one of the best) assist-turnover ratios in the league last year.

As currently composed, the Magic have no hope of being an elite team. The Sixers, if they make the right moves, could be right up there in a couple years.

I don't comlpetely understand this from Toronto's side. Aren't Bosh and O'Neal very similar? Reminds me of Randolph and Curry in NY
- Khyle
from twhirl
@Khyle Not at all. Bosh is more of a PF, while O'Neal should bring a stronger defensive presence in the paint. Bosh works outside in, O'Neal works inside and inside-out

Try subscribing to Friends of user that you like. That should bring you some more noise. I guess it all depends on where your comfort zone is for "signal to noise" ratio.

The view that you are more likely to be interested in things recommended by your friends is true only up to a point. I also value recommendations from people I don't know as it is more likely to provide ideas that are random and unfamiliar to me and offer fruitful new directions. It enlarges the meme pool.

Celtics injuries? Kobe Bryant’s shooting? Nah, tech’s the real story at NBA Finals | NetworkWorld.com Community - http://www.networkworld.com/communi...
"You’re not a league unless you’ve got a statistics system,” said NBA Executive VP of Operations & Technology Stephen Hellmuth (shown left). “You’re not a digital league unless you’ve got a live, real-time data feed that can be distributed on a global basis."

stats are everything in professional sports. Great article!
- Lawrence Leung
"Suddenly, Kobe Bryant doesn't want to be compared to Michael Jordan."
- Dan Hsiao
It seems a bit odd, yes, but I think that's part of his maturation process as well. He's learned to play more like himself, rather than trying to emulate His Greatness at all times.
