Yeah, that definitely sucks. But alas, I think I'll be doing the same thing. Mine is because I procrastinate way too much, so now I've got to finish this philosophy paper for tomorrow. Damn Gen-Ed classes. - Lee Adkins
now if only we knew what the product was :-) - Duncan Riley
Why...would someone want an invite for something they don't know about? YAY I WANT AN INVITE...wait, what is it for? That's kind of...silly. Why didn't they just have you wait until after they presented? - Candace Holly
The above is essentially a baseline Mac Pro replicated using the cheapest minimum required components to build. The difference? A negligible $5.67. Those who claim that they can build "the same" PC for half the price are at this point baseless. Also note - Leo Laporte
Heh... I tend to agree with 90% of the comments over the author's conclusions ;) - Michael W. May

Agree with the comments: "If you're stupid enough to pay retail for a Dell, then Apple just might be the computer for you." and then "The author's main point is that Macs are similarly priced to PC's. Then halfway through the article, he states that MAC prices are at a premium because it's from a top-shelf manufacturer and it is sold to cater to a "lifestyle." Did you read the article before you posted Leo or just stopped at the headline? - Johan
Aphorisms come to mind. 'Cat amongst the pigeons'. Fanboys unite. - Henry Burger
A quick way to save $177.49 would have been to install Leopard instead of Vista. - David Lounsbury
Even during the times when Macs are significantly more expensive than similarly spec'ed PC's, you can never put enough emphasis on the app's that come pre-installed on the Mac, right out of the box, and just as important, the visual appearance and design that goes into making them look... well, I know it's just personal taste, but Macs just look great. - Thomas Raymond Tibbitts
No Kona for me. 20 ounces of the original blend daily for 10 years or so. No negative effects although I used to be 6'2". Now I'm 5'5". In hindsight, maybe I should have done the Kona. - Kevin C. Tofel
Think few realize that Robert puts most, if not all, of his photos in the public domain ... which from where I sit ... is pretty cool. - Charlie Anzman
Charlie: thanks. All my photos are in public domain. What is funny is when I still get credit. - Robert Scoble
The only reason 1-9 are blank is because we haven't chosen to share it with y'all... it would really be too much for your minds to handle! ;) - Lucretia Pruitt
It's starting to happen, Friendfeed dumbing down with this mindless drivel... Time to move on, then! *sigh* - Mario Olckers

Didn't I see this on an episode of Dr. Who recently? - Lindsay Donaghe
reminds me of when I was a kid and decided I was going to read all the fiction books in the library. So I checked out the first five books. Nope don't remember a one. - Ruth Ferguson
Ruth, you have no idea how glad I am to know that I'm *not* the only kid who tried to read the library! - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
The Seattle Central Library was my favorite thing to shoot in Seattle on my recent trip. I *love* beautifully designed libraries. - Thomas Hawk
I'd like to have every room setup as a library, I love the big old houses with the fireplaces and libraries seems very Vincent Price. My 2 favorites that I've been to ar the Biltmore Estate and JP Morgan Musuem - clarke thomas

This is a great list to use to add places in the world to my map of things that I still need to shoot. So many beautiful libraries. - Thomas Hawk
Whoaa! Nice finding, Derek. Thanks for sharing. - LouCypher
I've actually been to quite a few of these all across Europe, and they're even more awesome (and smell FANTASTIC) in person. Some are considerably smaller than the photos make them appear, which is always interesting (kinda like the church in the wedding scene in The Sound of Music...it's seems huge on film, but it's really this dinky little chapel filmed wide and high). Really great to be reminded of those visits. Thanks for posting this. :) - abacab
This is an awesome set of photos. Proud to see my alma mater's Riggs Library included in the list. - Ryan Kuder
at one point in my life, i moved the entire collection of books at the Peabody in Baltimore. not necessarily a fun job but it is exciting knowing that the collection will more than likely sit where i put it for the next twenty years. - Nathan Eckenrode
WOW! Really nice. Oh! Sh*t! I was really with attention looking at the emotions going through your jump, you seemed so nervous on the plane, it took you a good 30 seconds of being in that state, am I right? - Zu aka ElijahBailey
congrats Hao ,, great footage ,,, loved the music - johnpiercy
I agree! Gary "Muppet" Harbird, the videographer/photographer, did a great job shooting and editing. Also, big props to my instructor, Cameron King. Thanks for the memories! You guys ROCK. - Hao Chen
Many of the instructors have jumped 3,000+ times; some even 8,000+, so you know it's pretty safe. Everyone should try this at least once in their lives. It's exhilarating! And you don't even get that stomach feeling like you do on rollercoasters. Just you, the wind blowing in your face, and one hell of a view. @Josh Planning to go again soon. :) - Hao Chen
Yeah, I'd totally be a repeat offender. Only thing is, it's a little expensive, especially if you take all the classes so you can jump alone. I keep picking up expensive sports (skydiving, paintball). I'd also like to try the indoor skydiving with the vertical wind tunnel. Looks fun! - Hao Chen
hao: the place you went does an awesome job - when i went for the 1st time almost 30 yrs ago there was no buddy jump - it was alone only & no photos/video - things have improved a ton - glad you had fun :) - mike "glemak" dunn
I can't draw that straight on a whiteboard, but I can paint a perfect line with a brush and some oil. Why? - Clay Newton
Wow, now I look cool as a FriendFeed user. EDIT: I'd also like to say that you made a really good choice of music. - possible248
via NoiseRiver
Looks to me like they're erasing a pre-drawn whiteboard, and play it for us backwards. The signatures at the end are a clue, as is the way they approach the whiteboard at the start. I think it's still pretty clever, because it means they would be able to get it right in one take. - Robert Konigsberg
Jody, don't confuse the distribution and the end result. Amazon-Tivo drives the downfall of broadcast television (note the headline: traditional media medium...not viewing video on a large screen) - Duncan Riley
While notable that if television continued to desperately cater to an online audience its future would probably be doomed, with an online presence (and if successful, the first of many) catering to television's audience its future is much more bright than printed newspapers or broadcast radio, which have no such bridge to modern media. Amazon-Tivo brings more advertising to the medium, where Tivo alone renders advertising useless. Bezos is one of the brightest minds out there. I don't see him investing in a losing proposition. - JC unwired
Jody, you're not understanding me. Amazon isn't in broadcast television. It's in digital distribution, TiVo is a way to deliver its digital content to more people. Bezos IS investing in a winning proposition, the shift from broadcast television to on demand or customized content. Bezos knows that the switch from broadcast TV to content on demand is on and that those who build numbers now have the most to gain in the future - Duncan Riley
Duncan - I totally get what you're saying, and you're right. :) - Sean McBride
I have been TRYING to innovate with http://Free.TV for 8 years and i still do no see change - ric johnson
TV is not innovating in the face of the competition from web. So I think tv will fall much before newspapers, radio etc - Sidharth Dassani
sadly its only a concept. See more concepts by this designer at this site: http://www.johnnouanesing.net/... He has some crazy cool stuff. I like the dog potty, the soup bowl chair, the pong table and the lawn hands best. - Rachel Lea Fox

Barak: That's awesome! Thanks for the tidbit Candace: i'll save it for a day i'm super stressed hahahha - Mona N.
When you're stressed - substitute half the milk for coffee and add a bit of cocoa powder. That's the best. - Candace Holly
You used to be able to buy steam puddings just like this cake mix for the microwave - they were ready in about 2 minutes, and were the reason I put on about 10lb in a week when I discovered them :) - Jonathan Beckett
