"Right. While most of the benefits of Colemak are gone, there are still some efficiencies to be gained. The biggest probably being the fact that you are using one layout everywhere, so you don't need to mentally switch contexts."

"> how long did it take you to reach your former typing speed? I didn't switch for the speed, so I didn't really do speed test comparisons, so I'm not sure exactly. I remember feeling pretty good about my speed after a few weeks. > Do you find that you passwords and logins seem to have a totally different muscle memory than regular typing? Although I don't switch between Colemak and QWERTY, I end up typing my passwords in on QWERTY enough that I can type them fairly easy and quickly even though I don't type in QWERTY for anything else. So, yes? Muscle memory? > do you switch over your phone layout as well? Or is it different enough not to matter? I switched on my phone and have been happy. Obviously, you aren't using all of your fingers to type on a phone, so most of the benefits of Colemak are gone when on a phone, but it is nice to not need to use two different mental maps of where the keys are positioned. SwiftKey has Colemak."

"You should check out [Causes](http://www.causes.com). It is a platform for activism. There isn't currently an explicit boycott mechanism, but there is a pledge type, and you could ask people to pledge to boycott something. ^Full ^disclosure: ^I ^work ^there."

"If you have more than one core, you can speed things up by running one process per core using the `-n` and `-P` arguments of `xargs`. For example, if you have 16 cores, run this: find public/images/ -iname *.png -print0 |xargs -n 1 -P 16 -0 optipng -o7"

"I'd suggest finding one that you think would be a good fit for you and apply. It seems like we are mostly hiring engineers, and in engineering the positions themselves are fairly loose."

"Were you at SoundTown music festival in Sommerset, WI last year? I'm pretty sure I saw you walking around. The day the Flaming Lips played, you were wearing a suit and carrying a clipboard. That was you, right?"

"I have had two of these [forlife tea infusers](http://www.amazon.com/gp...) for about a year now and they are so totally completely awesome. It fits in most regular sized mugs and when the tea is done steeping, the lid flips over to become a drip catcher for the infuser. It is made out of stainless steel and has tiny holes in it like an espresso machine portafilter. This thing is built well and will last a very long time."

"Paul Stamets had a stutter and says that taking some psilocibyn mushrooms cured him. Perhaps there is a study or something you could get involved with. Paul Stamets is involved in medical research now, so maybe it would be worth trying to get in touch with him."

"I should mention that on most days I pour it from the carafe into a thermos to take to work, so the whole line of vessels retains heat very well. If I pour it into a cold mug, it loses heat much more quickly, depending on the diameter of the opening on the top. If this is a concern, I could see how preheating the carafe and the mug with hot water would be advantageous. But, I usually just pour some more coffee in once it gets too cold."

"I have the thermal carafe model for a little over 3 years and have been very happy with it. I don't think the glass carafe offers any advantages. I don't preheat the carafe with hot water and my coffee seems to be hot enough until it is gone. Plus, I appreciate the mobility of the thermal carafe--I can take it into the living room with me, or even to work if I feel like it. Not to mention, it is more durable so I don't have to worry about breaking and the cost of replacing the carafe. Moreover, it seems like a waste of energy to have a hot plate where a thermal carafe would work just fine. If you are worried about the thermal model costing more, the energy cost associated with the hot plate over time is something you need to keep in mind. Plus, if you are annoyed that the more expensive one is mechanically simpler, consider the engineering involved in making a thermal carafe, or that mechanically simpler things have fewer possible points of failure. This make translate into a coffee..."

"I know this is way outside of your price range, but we recently got this [Zojirushi Water Boiler](http://amzn.to/zGAL8A) and it is so freaking awesome. It works great for french press and aeropress, plus we now eat oatmeal every day, and drink a heck of a lot more tea just because we have hot water on tap."
