lengau on Weirdest thing ever but DAE think of one particular road in their mind when they hear the joke "why did the chicken cross the road?" - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Yes. [This exact piece of road](http://maps.google.com/maps...). Except in the winter, so the grass is grey. No, I don't know why there exactly. I grew up close to there, but not on that street."

"I use several different desktops to distinguish my work. For example, I have a desktop for web browsing etc., one for my media/gaming (which includes Amarok open all the time), one for any programming I do, one for school work, and one titled "Other" where I do everything else. It makes a logical separation amongst them so I don't have the icons all over the place for something I'm not using."

"It depends what you're doing. There are professors at my university who are in their 80's and doing well. On the other hand, this is unlikely to work for factory workers."

"I agree that it's been around a long time, but for a long time the term "[calculator](http://oxforddictionaries.com/definit...)" has been used to describe things like this (which is more of an adding machine) and "[computer](http://oxforddictionaries.com/definit...)" has been used to mean something programmable (such as Jacquard looms, Babbage machines, etc.)"

"A computer imples memory, sequential logic, etc. What's built above looks more like an adder, which is more of a state machine than a computer."
- Alex
"Depending on the computer's purpose, this may in fact be a very good idea. OP: What are you doing with the computer, and what level of technical expertise do you have?"

"My distribution of choice is [Kubuntu](http://kubuntu.org). It's built on top of the solid (and easy to use) base of Ubuntu, but with KDE as the desktop, which is my particular preference. IMHO, KDE is a much better way for people to switch to Linux than Unity or GNOME, and it allows power users like me to configure everything."

lengau on Now that we got ourselves to the moon, how long it will take until we build a colony there? 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Seriously... I don't think even 40 years from now America will be ready for a black president. I am looking forward to my orbital home, though."

"If you're a Linux user, I highly recommend System76. Their machines are rock solid and if you need to do GPU computing, you can get them with high-end GeForce cards as well. The displays are beautiful high-resolution beasts as well. If you're a Windows user, you can get the same laptops (though I'm not sure about prices) from Sager. I can't speak for their support, though."
