The Problogger forum is still open at its introductory price - US$1.95/month. I joined & can heartily recommend it. The price will be going up sometime in the next few days - anyone who joins up now will be locked in at the same price forever http://www.problogger.com/forum...
Double Hmmmmm. Wonder how this would fit with the FTC. It's a bit hard to add to your Tweet that this is a paid promotion (only 140 characters after all) but if your followers have no idea this is not a genuine recommendation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just uploaded a video to show how you can make your podcasts (or any audio product) sound more professional by mixing a couple of pieces of audio together seamlessly on Audacity. Thought it might come in useful for all 30DCers (or 30DCer Plus) who are moving on to create their own products: http://www.youtube.com/watch...
Great vid Lisa Thanks!! Audacity rocks for audio.I have been using the beta1.3 (unicode) version and really like it.If I may add to your tut, you can fine tune the moving of a track(s) by selecting the "Time Shift" icon (the double headed arrow) and then click, hold and move the track with the mouse. Helps to fine align the tracks after doing the align to cursor move :)

Excellent - will give that a mention in my next tutorial. I'm so used to working with Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition that I forget how things work in Audacity between times!

Some of the best writers are online and not in newspapers, magazines or other print media. The Hoo-Hah we had over Jan Moir's article in the Daily Mail in the UK was a good example of this. She proved herself to be mediocre at best as a writer but the many rebuttals on different blogs revealed some excellent writing and eloquent arguments.

Is anyone else suddenly unable to make any posts or PMs on the 30dc forum? Everything I try to write I just get back this: "The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters". The forum software also won't let me put in any smilies 8o
If it's just me then I'll have to get a pal to message a forum admin. In that event does anyone know who would be the forum person to contact about it? (PS all the posts I tried to send were way way over 10 characters)
- Isha (Marysia)
It's fine for me. Try emailing jon [at] wuranga.com

here's an exclusive just to the FriendFeed room (lol she is going to kill me)...@lisahartwell will be releasing an audio product that teaches you how to gold-plate your online persona and become a brand (how the professionals do it). Working for years in radio has given her unique insight... and anyone can do it!
OK, if I'm going to get this done, I need to know your questions, thoughts and concerns about online personas and creating your personal brand. Let rip below.
- Lisa
how do you go about being yourself, yet still creating a "character" for your niche? I can't wrap my brain around how to do that...

OMG swbnetwork.com currently resolves to http://box459.bluehost.com/suspend... "This Account Has Been Suspended Please contact the support department as soon as possible, and please have your site name ready" Heck!!!
- Isha (Marysia)
We've contacted Bluehost and they will have us back up and running very soon
- Lisa
Thats what happens when you have SWBN (Sassy Women Being Naughty):))
- Ron"micronet"Harwood
Hehehe Ron - yes, very appropriate. Sometimes we can't help ourselves :)
- Lisa
Huge lesson here in building up your fan base. You don't need a lot of raving fans (customers) but those you do have will be 100% loyal and will spread your message for you (as long as you are consistent and keep them happy)
- Lisa
Awesome advice here. I fully endorse (even if I am still moving towards executing myself ;) )

I especially agree with finding what does and doesn't work for you and your followers. Streamlining what you do can be much more effective than trying to cover all areas of social media and social networking.

I know a lot of you have said the main thing that stops you achieving everything you want to achieve in your online businesses is the tech stuff - so this may be a good fit for you. And Traci has a great reputation (I have sent people her way in the past for help setting up Wordpress blogs)
- Lisa
Looks like Bluehost have just believed someone's complaint and immediately suspended our blog. Waiting for Allison to wake up so she can contact them and explain the situation. Don't worry - we'll be back soon
- Lisa
I've just seen it Lisa, could not believe it I was just going to leave a comment and could not get in!
- Groobers
Good old friendfeed I will just post my comment to your blog post here:
- Groobers
First off an apology, I usually have a good read of the SWBN blog and listen to the podcast on a regular basis because I enjoy receiving quality genuine helpful advice, information and recommendations regarding how to start and progress with an online business, unfortunately due to other commitments over the last month or so I am a little behind on my reading/listening :( Just catching...

I've seen it too many times before - How to Make Money Selling How to Get MySpace/Twitter/Facebook followers. It may work for a number of people for a short space of time but it isn't a proper business model and it quickly burns itself out. And p**ses a bunch of people off in the process

"If you don't like Google's new search box and you think the font size is way too big, there's a Greasemonkey script that brings back the old interface. I've tested the script in Firefox and Google Chrome, so you should try it if you use one of these browsers"
- Ron"micronet"Harwood
Am I the only one who likes the new size? Maybe I'm getting old...it's like suddenly preferring large print books ;-)

"According to extensive research, women have the ability to work well in groups. They are intuitive, communicative, and empathic, and they are good negotiators. This style works well in today's business world. It gives women the opportunity to do what they do best; bring people together in a harmonious way. Most business women don't take the time...
I didn't know they had to do extensive research to figure that out. Must have been men that could not communicate well so it became 'extensive'.

The tongue scrapping is the part I haven't been doing right, I do that at night. Maybe if I atleast get that part I will be doing something. ;) Not sure I could list just 1 thing (I have so many) I would change about my live.
- Sheryl Loch
I agree. I think Yaro is now in a very comfortable place with his business and his life - able to pick and choose a bit more - but you have to do the slog to get there (but make sure that the slog is not random and has purpose)

I am a big believer in distilled market rather than diluted....if you talked to every one of your 100 followers you should be able to get a higher CTR than these guys get. I know I do for some of my niche accounts

You got me interested. Just checked my budurl stats (I don't use it for all links but have tried it on a number of links across 3 accounts). My clickthrough rate ranges from 0.9 to 23.3% with an overall average of 10.5%
- Lisa
Of course, those accounts range from 100 to 2000 followers

It's just one of those days... Such a lousy feeling when you see one of your sites plummet in ranking in the google search results. MarketSamurai makes it obvious... from first page to 100th+ place across all my keywords for that site... Thank God for referral traffic :)
Yahoo is doing fine. Bing just seems to ignore me altogether ;) The amount of traffic from yahoo is 10% of what I used to get from google though...

time to check your seo on page or any black hat you might not be aware of & bad link communities pointing at you (ie to many link farms for your link count)
- JuneM
Thanks for the tip. I already modified my robots.txt to avoid some 404 errors I was getting from a redirection script. How would you go about figuring out if you have bad sites pointing at you? For my part, I sure haven't used any blackhat approach or blog farm myself. Could it be the effect of outside intervention?

Some fascinating discussion going on there. Thanks for sharing

Your welcome, Buff, Lisa. I was wondering how interested others would be. I think that the content is ok, but really the main reason I did it was to help the 30DC community spirit.
- Tim Brennan
You and Maria have done a nice job there Tim - thank you.
- Isha (Marysia)
We were there nearly 3 and a half hours. Then Enzo & I stopped off at Liverpool Street Station and gassed further for another hour or so. A very enjoyable meet-up and I look forward to many more.

Here's some more info about this video - "5 of us had a meetup at the good old British Museum in London's West End. We chatted for 3 hours about all sorts related to the Thirty Day Challenge. The experience interesting and encouraging. Towards the end of the meetup, we decided to stage a bit of chat for the camera. I shot about 17 minutes which I've spit into 2 parts. As you can see the...

Despite the video camera being very close to the action, the audio it picked up was not good at all. It picked up loads of background hubbub which drowned out the conversation. The iRiver audio quality was twice as good. "
- Tim Brennan
In case anyone's wondering where the 5th person is, Maria's holding the camera & a great job she's done too.
- Isha (Marysia)
Nice video Tim. Looking forward to the next meet up.
- Enzo Vullo
I never knew there was a meet up in London. Would like to join you for the next one. Where do you post the info? I don't check FF much but will keep an eye out now.

Ouch! It's a shame that mommy bloggers have now been lumped into a (negative) group. I like the comment of one woman (from a link in this post) when asked if she was a Mommy Blogger she said "I'm just a writer..." People like to label everyone for ease but that leads to negative and positive connotations with a label. Essentially, the best "mommy bloggers" are simply good...

I loved this. That's how weddings should be. A fun, celebration with family and friends - not an expensive show-off fest. Oh, and all the serious vow taking too, of course ;-)
