Yup I read it. I thought, as I read it, this is what cronyism looks like in the Age of Obama.

Name calling doesn't become you, Dave.
- Phil Boiarski
Phil, this is why people rave about FriendFeed (not) -- because the comments so resemble a kindergarten playground. Phil's is the kind of comment I usually moderate out, because it begets a defensive response. Rather than defend, which if you do it well, results in a zero-sum, you can just remove the offense, which has the same result without the emotional stress. People think -- stress -- no big deal -- but stress kills. That's why this shit isn't harmless.
- Dave Winer
My apologies. I guess it was a reaction to being called "stupid" and "silly."
- Phil Boiarski
Dave, what I don't get about you is why you think it's okay to say things like "fuck you Obama" but it's not okay for commenters to get emotional or nasty or defensive or offensive in reply. It's why I wish I could screen out your political posts. The few I've bothered to read just never seem rational.

Seconding Snowed-in Dawn: I tried to explain why your wording was factually incorrect wrt your commentary on the people who should approach Obama on this, and you deleted the thread here on FF. I don't recall any name-calling or nasty wording on that thread -- if there was, I understand.
- Woodrow Jarvis Hill
Folks this is a thread that should be trashed. I'm only leaving it here as a demo of the kind of useless BS that passes for discourse. Nothing new, this is what happens on mail lists, and this aspect of FF is just that -- a mail list. The trolls always take over and rule them, unless you use your power to moderate.
- Dave Winer
So it's OK to be brash and insulting if you have your own blog, but otherwise any contradictory statements are just childish and troll-like. Gotcha.
- Kenton
There's another way to solve the problem -- if my writing makes you unhappy -- don't read it. No need for anyone to suffer. You'd think this was some kind of innovation or something, but the ability to unfollow is built into all the software you use.
