“All day I've been obsessing about needing to get my new registration stickers so I won't get stopped until someone pointed out to me that I have a 9/08 sticker. I completely spaced that I still have a whole month to get it done and it didn't expire last weekend.”
me on the other hand, felt so grown up when I renewed earlier this year only 1 week late, rather than my usual 5-12 months late, following 2-3 tickets. - Ruth Ferguson
ruth, that made me laugh. we renewed 3 weeks late, rather than our 2 - 5 mos. late and we got no tix this time! - faboo mama
I renewed late last year, after 2 tickets, that's why I'm obsessing this year. - Trish R
Mine expired this weekend. Fortunately, i remembered with enough time to run over to the tag office before it closed. Barely. They get pissy about expired stickers down here. - Chris Baskind
Texas gives you a 5-day grace period before you get a ticket. - Trish R
i'm late. i paid a month ago and still haven't received my sticker though. - Rodfather
They don't give you the sticker when you pay? We get them immediately here. - Trish R
trish, we have to mail in our registration here in CA and they mail them to us. i even went to the dmv to pay my registration and they mailed my stickers to me. - faboo mama

“My son needed 3 shots for school yesterday (only 1 required by the state). Using insurance, it would have cost me $25 co-pay and they only covered 1 shot. I would have had to pay $90 each for the other two. Getting all three shots w/o insurance cost me $75 total. Anything wrong with this scenario?”
Hah. I've had that experience with medications before. $10 without insurance, or $25 copay with insurance. It's crazy. - Rochelle
I used to get allergy shots that were the same way. They were $10 a shot w/o insurance, or $25 co-pay with a yearly cap on the shot amount, which I reached in 6 months and had to pay the full price of $100 a shot for the remaining 6 months. - Trish R
Same with an MRI. I'm also in Texas. I hope this crap changes after January. - Josh Haley
And yet people wonder why Government paid Healthcare (Socialized Healthcare) won't work. The same principle applies when getting auto body work done. There is one price for insurance and another for direct payment. - tsudohnimh
This is a statement that you have TERRIBLE insurance. - Sparky
yes, that doesn't add up, but insurance is like that. dental insurance is the biggest scam in history. if I had dental ins. my recent work would have cost me $2K more as most of the stuff i had done wouldn't have gotten covered. - faboo mama
Yes, dental and even most vision plans are huge scams. A sad and expensive day when I figured that out. - Josh Haley
Stopped paying dental and vision plans 5 years ago after working out the economics. They cost more for the plan over the year than I actually needed in treatment! - Sally Church

“What font do you use to send an actual letter via snail mail?”
that's an ancient method - using something called a pen, with ink in it, with no aid from a computer, go figure! - giorgia
Second handwriting, though it takes FOREVER if I want legibility. Computers have leeched away what little penmanship I could ever claim. - Alix Whitmire
I actually have good handwriting but I can't write quickly enough to keep up with my thoughts. Many years ago, when I briefly got into letter writing as a hobby, I would type out what I wanted to write and then copy it down. I just don't write letters anymore. - Akiva Moskovitz
I use Calibri to view FriendFeed, and pretty much use it everywhere else :P - Shey
I'm an old Mac user, and as far as I'm concerned, the only four fonts that I'll ever need are Helvetica, Times, Courier, and Symbol. So now on Windows, I tend to use Times New Roman or sometimes Arial. (I am not trendy.) - Ontario Emperor
Any serif font tends to look better in actual print (usability wise). - Far
mahdi, i know, they should be paying me. the sleestack were evil giant lizard characters in this late 1970's usa show about a family that gets transported back in time to the prehistoric age. it was called "land of the lost" - Cee Bee
(cue banjo) "Marshall Will and Holly, on a routine expedition...." - Josh Haley
CeeBee, did you see they're going to make a LOTL movie? - Trish R
wow, there's gonna be a LOTL movie? righteous! my husband missed that boat as he not from the US. trying to explain episodes to him is cause for a lot of 'you had to be there'. - faboo mama
i used to do a great chaka the pakuni impersonation when i was little. sadly, i've lost my touch - Cee Bee
@Faboo, the episodes are available on video. I must confess I own most of them. - Trish R
trish, i know but we're locked in a childish game. since i won't watch some stupid show he liked when he was a kid in romania, he won't watch this. sigh. - faboo mama
"Oh no, I think she found out. Bristol left the pregnancy test in the garbage, instead of throwing it in the outside one. I hope this doesn’t leak. I hear she’s going to be running for something political." - Trish R
History will be made no matter what happens. - Akiva Moskovitz
@Akiva True. AFTER the election, not before. - Trish R
Akiva that's truer than you meant it to be. ;) - Anthony Citrano
was there an election in 84? 49-1 for Reagan/Bush and a 60/40 split in the popular vote...ironically enough, the one state for Mondale/Ferraro? Minnesota... - Live4Soccer
Actually, Anthony, that's EXACTLY how I meant it. - Akiva Moskovitz
I'm pretty sure the first African American nominee of a major party is history, regardless of if he wins. I'm also pretty sure that Clinton's run was history - she got more votes than any primary candidate in history, except for the guy who beat her. McCain is history as the oldest guy to ever seek a first term. Palin is history for the Republican party, and again if she wins. If that happens, the electorate will also have reached history-making levels of stupidity. So all in all, lots of history being made - Eric
@Eric, I said no history was made in Palin being a woman running for VP. That's been done before. Yes, history is made in many ways in every election, but especially in this one. - Trish R
First time the GOP has done it, though. - David Risley

“One of the things that bugs me the most. Haven't we spent the last year listening to sexist jokes directed at Clinton and conservatives saying America isn't ready for a woman?”
I thought I was done with politics for the night. :) - Harvey Simmons
Yes and this is my biggest irritation. Suddenly sexism is a big deal. Or at least with in the last few days. Where were they when Hillary was running? - Michelle Martinez
This has nothing to do with gender. Palin was a last minute choice and not vetted. - LPH
@Michelle -- They were insulting her and making PMS jokes, that's where they were. - Trish R
I know *I'm* not ready for a woman. Ohhhh, you cut yourself off... Ne'mind then! ;) - Anthony Citrano
@Trish I guess they are deemed unacceptable now? And Dems are the sexists because we don't support Palin? Because goodness knows being pro woman is to not believe in any birth control. (Off my soapbox) - Michelle Martinez
Where's that guy with that "Iron My Shirts" sign now? - Trish R
I know i'm ready for a woman. I've been single so long, i'll live vicariously through the white house at this point. Did that joke make any sense? May be drunk-posting ☛ - ·[•_•]·

Indeed, Patricia...she is the *wrong* Palin in so many ways... - Bren

“Tonight, on the most dramatic show in Bachelor history . . . ERRR, the most dramatic Survivor twist EVER . . . uhm, the reality show that will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat!”
Why do they always feel like they have to tell you there's a twist at the end? Doesn't that sort of kill the suspense and the whole "OMG I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING" fun of it? - Nine - Like the number
Tonight, the first episode of the new season of TOP MODEL! - Rochelle
I thought that tonight everyone would be watching that new reality show, the RNC. - Trish R
I would think any bachelor show would be about survival, after you win then +5 years And they would have to show it on TNN because they know DRAMA! - Earl E Morningwood via fftogo
Know anything about the quality of ordering from this site? It does have free shipping. - Trish R via Bookmarklet
Trish, I've never ordered directly from the site, but gotten Kingston flash drives before and love 'em, if that helps at all? You can also get it for slightly more at Amazon. - Nine - Like the number
kingston is a reputable manufacture but you may be able to get a better price on newegg or overstockr - Michael J Cohen
@Michael, I had already checked overstock, they're $33.99 there with shipping additional. Actually, they're $22 with free shipping, not $25 here, and I have to order 50, so the savings will add up in the end. - Trish R
actually i want a shirt that says prose for hoes but maybe that's too crass... besides which it's not like i write love poems i write poems that are very depressing and apocalyptic maybe i should start a FF group for my poems? (ok i'll knock off the shameless plugage) - Cecil Sandus
Oh geez, they're actually going to sing. But it's one of those stereotypical train wrecks, I just can't turn away. - Trish R
this all went down back in the spring/summer, tour and album itself coming out now - my wife was/is a huge fan, so keep me in your prayers - Jeff Quinton
@Jeff, they're still doing all the same choreography, so that should be quite a concert! - Trish R
They don't make me giggle with glee anymore. They make me nauseous. - Kate Kapetanakis
I heard about that a while ago and I was totally shocked!!! Although I was a huge fan back in the day, now I don't think there style will work in today's world. And I thought about the name change thingy too, they're not kids anymore! - Sheryl
Wow, I guess the Barenaked Ladies and the Beach Boys ought to change their names too. LOL. Old Men on the (Chopping) Block does have a nice ring to it though. - David Muir
My son wants this shirt. Appropriate for school or not? - Trish R via Bookmarklet
It really depends upon the school... I see not a thing wrong with a little linguistic wit. We tend to shield our children from the light of moon on a sunny day, imo. But I'm not a parent, either. - Michael W. May
I see nothing wrong with the shirt but I wasn't sure if the innuendo behind the joke might be an issue. - Trish R
That's why I said it depends on the school, or the administration and atmosphere they cultivate, rather. - Michael W. May via twhirl
