"Disk Images Helper" was taking 90+% of CPU for the last few days. No wonder I couldn't get Office to work at all and was getting the spinning wheel of death on so many sites. *facepalm*

Force quit and all of a sudden, things work, and my fan isn't going crazy 24/7.

And here I was thinking of switching 100% to Google Docs or reinstalling Office or using my wife's new MacBook. Stupid.

Days? Consider using iStat Menus or similar tools so that you can see the CPU is going nuts immediately. (Or memory is in heavy use and the Mac is paging to disk.)

I did not mislead Matt Cutts. The idea that I could replace many of my apps and experiences with Google is very real. I am excited about what they are bringing to market and Android is very cool. My mention of Google Docs above meant that as Office was failing, I was going to work around it.

Maybe, secretly, diskimages-helper _wants_ you to use Google docs. If you were storing your documents in the cloud, you wouldn't need help from a disk imager, now would you? And diskimager would have more free time.
