New Blog Post: FriendFeed Plans Features to Stem Conversation Flare-Ups http://www.louisgray.com/live...
But that means it misses the whole point of friendfeed. It's like closing comments on blogs now. Back to web 1.0? - Sasha Kovaliov(.com)
This whole thing has gotten out of hand. I think Mike is the only one complaining about this. His concern is valid but I hope FriendFeed is careful not to add features to appease only him. - Brandon Titus
that's sillysauce. - Geoff Schultz
I don't have a problem with this. If you want to start a conversation around a Techcrunch blog post (for example), you can just share into Friendfeed yourself with any other service. This just gives you more control over your own feed, which I think is a good thing. - Alejandro
"Interestingly, Bret said that the conversations on those accounts that had either a small amount of followers or a large amount were of the lowest quality." - wow, slam! - anna sauce
I (one of the lowly low follower people) think that people who have the mic, like Arrington, are not as deft at wielding it, as Scoble. So it's tough for him to manage the mob, same with @technosailor. Those that can handle the mob, find no issue with it. - anna sauce
Not sure what Bret's going to do- sounds vaguely like posters can stop comments- but not sure if it would stem the tide. - anna sauce
I'm not sure I understand this. Does this mean, if you don't want a conversation in your feed anymore you can just opt out of it? Or, does it mean, if you don't like the way a converstation is going you can shut it down? - Kimber Scott
It may force communities to form around topics. Which is a strength of FriendFeed's commenting system. We would obviously be free to avoid heavily censored or redacted threads and the originators. JM2C. - Eric Logan
<REDACTED> COMMENT BLOCKED BASED ON USERNAME, YOUR GROUP SUBSCRIPTIONS, THE NAUGHTY OR NICE LIST, IP ADDRESS AND/OR THE RANGE OF IP ADDRESS BLOCKS USED IN YOUR COUNTRY. - Micah Wittman
Um, that was weird. What I tried to say was: is 'more control = good' always a given? Clear arguments should be made on this topic on both sides. - Micah Wittman
What these new potential features can't prevent are Mike's (and other's) personality that seems to attract and ignite controversy. - Kevin Whalen
