Google have taken most if not all of the classified advertising from the newspapers. Google has $25bn in sales. Most of the newspapers are bust. This is not new money or a new business. This is just money transfer from paper to online. Murdoch is fighting his corner. Show him some respect he's been at it since 1953. Sky Television rescued soccer in the UK. Murdoch did that. I love football. Thank you Rupert.

Fact: You can't own facts. A house burns down. 5000 reporters write 5000 articles about it, telling the story 5000 different ways. The fact that the house burned down can't be owned by any of them. But Murdoch would like to believe he can own it, exclusively, and that you are not allowed to know that house burned down unless you pay HIM for that knowledge. How does he plan on stopping...

Murdoch's negotiating in public a better deal for himself with Google and Bing. Can't blame him.

This reminds me of when I was in high school and created an alternative newspaper called The Dark Horse (The office one was called The Mustang, our school mascot.) The students loved it, but the school administration went ballistic. Sadly, it was limited to one printing. A fellow student I recently hooked up with after about 30 years told me he kept a copy of that for many years. Ha! That made me feel good.

Back in my day, spammers were much cleverer. Yeah, boy...they'd put ACTUAL SUBJECTS in email and really tried. None of this namby-pamby slip-shod slip-shoddery!

That's not as amusing as one I got where they wanted me, a female, to review their male enhancement product and post about it on my blog, linking back to their site. I almost wrote a post about it, and would have even given a nofollow link, considering what their product was and how funny the whole thing was. (some very expensive cable ties and the founder of the company had the last name of "Long") I got a real laugh out of it. I need to see if I still have the email (probably filed under humor).
