Any product that deals with moving parts may occasionally have issues. Drobo reduces the chance of these issues with its BeyondRAID technology. Well, from the amount of failures Kevin was citing, it sounds like more of a problem than I've had with any consumer raid drives. Maybe it was just a particular model, but it made me think not to get one of their products. They'd have to do more than marketing to win my business, like get a great comparison review against other drives I have had success with (e.g. G-drive) - Cristo
